im just tryng to understand here, why are the devs of this game trying to jumpstart a 10 years old graphics engine ? is there a rule that says: "if its an mmo then it should look ugly" ? or is it just a common cultural thing that whenever a great revolutionary game is about to be released someone goes like: "ehh... you know what, lets give this game a handicap so that trolls find something to chew on" i mean this game could be perfect, it has the theme, the mechanics and the audience, why did they have to destroy the visuals? yes, we may argue for weeks on how important are graphics in an mmo, but that is absolutely not the point of this thread, my point is even if gfx are not the main focus of a game, it should at least look as good as any average game released in the last 2 years... are there any plans for enhancing the way this game looks? |

umm game on max looks decent enough, apart totally poor drawn distance and quality and most ugly grass flickering i ever saw ( no its not drivers or some random shit.. its how it is.. go look at it ) and ye it runs kinda poorly too when i turn on mmo i expect to set max quality and be happy with it.. but even having 50~fps it feels lagy. not to mention spikes there and here.. yes its beta.. and graphic engine is first you develope.. not the last thing you fix.. if this game is gona get released in next 6 months, it probably wont even reach 300k subs |

I haven't found the graphics to be ugly or "10 years old." Looks fine to me. |

i checked out the screen shots, and they don't look that bad, there no AoC or Aion but this game will have more of a FPS feel to the combat and a totally open world so the devs might have lowered the graphics looks to help the game run smooth but i am sure it will have more polished look at launch or more options to tweak the look for people whith more powerfull pc. most beta run some type of debugging program that makes running the game full rip even hard for high end pc so wait for live game screen shots to really bash it's look |

Re: why the fugly graphics? stuff... I suppose the game needs more atention to detail, but now is too big to have it everywhere. Also a better rendering, maybe better textures. |

Well, it does have a somewhat retro look to it: but it's very passable. And for a small company (?) acceptable. This is why it's hard for small companies. they can't give people state of the art graphics but they can capitalize on what they do have. Players just have to be a little forgiving. Heck, the graphics of Alpha Centauri are NOT all that but I always go back to that game. Good is good. |

Technically the graphics are fine and so is the engine. It's the implementation and the direction it has...(I understand it's post apocalyptic) Put the same tools in the hands of another company and you'd have a totally different experience. If you watch the demos for the their own engine (on youtube) it has a lot more potential then they are currently using. This needs another year in the oven. :/ (,,,)=^__^=(,,,)Game Latte Vidcast |

That video is better. I'm interested in the game but concerned about the longevity it may have to offer. With only gear and "skills/attributes" it seems that it may run out of creativity for different players. Nothing to distinguish one guy from the next so to speak. On a side note, the slight up and down movement of the camera makes me picture a fat cameraman that's a heavy breather. Standing around uncomfortably waiting for the interview to finish. |

People complain that they want reality in their graphics. People complain that they want a gritty world that isn't all flowers and forests and shiny skyscrapers. Then someone gives them what they want and it isn't pretty enough for them. |

That's not what anyone's saying at all. What we are saying is that it looks dated. I'm personally ok with that, as long as it performs well. |

I need to find those people then, because I always end up being the "gay friend" like this one girl said, "Don't be offended, but you're my gay friend, it's so awesome I can talk to you about everything." and then I end up hearing about all these different guys she likes, and I'm not one of them. Back on topic: If the gameplay delivers than I can forgive graphics as long as they don't hinder performance. -------- The most awesomest after school special T-shirt: |

The graphics are fine, the game is going for that Fallout 2 look and the devs hit it right on the head. In fact it's freaking perfect. Everything about the world's brown pallette to the ramshackled towns to the vehicals just scream Fallout 2 in 3D. If you're looking for an effects laden and clean looking MMO then you completely missed the point. IMHO the biggest issue with the graphics is performance. This is a twich based FPS/RPG game, similar to Fallout 3 without the VATS. So performance, controls, and animations (in that order) should be the top three concerns. |

Anyone who says the graphics of FE are fine need to make an appointment with their optician pronto. They are so damn ugly! If you tried to make a game uglier it couldn't look worse. It's the texturing that's the problem more than anything. Perhaps they can improve on that, yet. Those bushes that are around everywhere look like a bunch of pixels. It's dreadful. Buildings and vehicles have textures chucked on with no thought whatsover. Those comparing the graphics with Fallout 3 obviously can't dinstinguish between content and delivery. Fallout 3's graphics weren't great but you can't compare them to FE's botched job. You really have to believe graphics don't matter to accept FE as it is right now. |
