Atlantica online because it has a unique combat system, alot of content, good community, not a forced cash shop and the overall game is just fun.

You are basically asking whats the best peace of rotten fruit from the basket....there is none, but id say the least rotten ones are

Atlantica online, perfect world international, and Runes of magic. This is in terms of game play alone without taking into consideration their absurd cash shop prices.

True. Atlantica Online was good... for a F2P... for a while atleast. But a waste of time by P2P standards.

Best and F2P in the same sentence?

does...not...compute

could you please change your thread title to something more realistic like

" Least horrible/goddamn awful/pathetic F2P MMO?"

I don't have enough time in a day, week and/or year to play the paid ones.......

I had a look at a free to play MMO once for about 5 minutes and I doubt i will ever look at one again.

At £10 a month for a Pay to Play MMO, this computes to about 30 pence a day or 60 pence if you sub to two, it is hardly expensive to play even if you are unemployed!

So i cannot understand why anyone would want to play a F2P MMO to be honest.

Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach goes partly f2p later this summer [as far as I know] so give it a try:). Also maybe Guild Wars - need to pay only for a box.

For now I'd say Atlantica Online (maybe D&D will be better, I don't know) if you are talking about games that use a typical F2P model.  Guild Wars is better if you are counting boxed copy purchases too.

4-5 years ago I spend all my sparetime in a week to farm to get the money for my first mount in WoW. Today I am not willing to do that. If I can buy it for $10 instead then I will prefer that.

I think RMT is a good thing to get rid of the boring parts of MMO and as long as they do not break the internal power in the game. You shouldn't be able to buy a better weapon or gain better powers than others because of real world money but things like mounts, houses, clothes and other fluff . . . . certainly.

It doesn't mean btw that I in any way endorse gold farming because that kind of money transfers does indeed not only support crimminal activity, it also breaks the internal balance in the games and it breaks the game for honest players. But carefully managed RMT items that does not break game balance is a good idea I think. Life is too short to waste it on boring parts of a MMO.

thing is,if u have a good game and dont sell such power-ups,you'll end up in bankruptcy with your game servers overcrowded

F2P games attract cheapskates by definition. give them the whole game but a few fancy oufits and a kewl mount that goes at the same speed as any other, and they will play for free all their lifetime, since in gameplay temrs, they dont need to buy stuff

sell them retardedly overpowered enhancements and quite a few of them will happily  pay the unkeep for the game and you'll still make a living out of it.

some people just love to be able to yell "Im awesome and you all are N00BZ"  and then facepwn with their epic sword +27 when everybody is in +2 stuff, and if a fat wallet allows them do that, they all will go for it

thats why F2P games are no go for me,for 99,9999% of them the playing field is as uneven as possible, basically because they feed on that

Well, since there aren't any F2P without either limitations or RMT, and since paying to cheat at a multiplayer game is not my thing, I don't play F2P.

I am just starting to play a p2p game again (as of today), but I played some f2p games in between. I'd say Atlantica is not too bad, but it might be worth waiting for DDO to go f2p.

Well the only game atm i can play on my little netbook (waiting on getting new desktop build) is perfect world international. In that game you _can't_ buy a sword of megadeath +200 or I-am-more-uber gear at all in the cash shop. What you _can_ buy is a cool outfit (that only affect your appearance not gear), a nicer looking mount, larger inventory bag or bank space and all that kind of stuff that you usually have to grind a lot of in game money to get.

And it looks to me that the game is doing quite allright. What many people dont understand is that people are quite willing to pay money for fluff and nice things that dont affect game balance.

The kind of gamer you describe is the kind of gamer that make gold farmers thrive. Its not automatically the same kind of gamer that play a RMT game.

The biggest problems I see in the RMT subgenre of MMOs is that most of them are low budget games build around a different gameer culture than what you see in the west, and as long as they are not made to fit the kind of stuff people really find fun in this part of the world then the model will always face a stigma.

The day someone make a prime quality western style MMO with RMT in a way that dont affect game balance then people's perception will probably change. Its not RMTs in itself that is a bad thing, quite the contrary for gamers like me its nice to be able to spend 10 dollars on a cool horse instead of wasting 50 hours of my valuable sparetime. No its the overall quality of most RMT games that is the problem.

Perfect world international do not have any really brilliant elements, but its nice to only have to relax doing fun stuff and dont have to worry about "work" in game because of the RMT option. I dont _have_ to do anything I dont find fun in the game, which is something almost all P2P games force you to from time to time.

I have been looking at few F2P games lately cause the subed ones are simply not worth the money NOR the time to comit to long term.

So far Runes of Magic is standing out - simply because it has alot to offer.  The only really bad thing about it is the sound atm.  The double class feature is great to play with and tthere is alot of content to explore (not just grind).  It also has player housing and even if I really hated that idea I still find it usefull in terms of storing items.

Lets put it this way.  If Runes of Magic had been created 4 years ago it would be a game of 20.000.000 ppl playing it.  The game is still young and can improve - but overall you will find most of the stuff any other MMO has to offer atm.

I would say Atlantica simply because its a stategic turn based game and if you screw one click your done.
