Most of the posts which are hateful could be taken right from AOC, Vanguard, WAR, and a series of other games who had their fanbois defenders, which tried to be "innovative", and which failed as a result. Well, we will wait and see how things turn out wtih this game. |

All of the models and world environment look about on par with Crysis on high settings in dx9. Which to be quite honest is amazing considering how well the client handles fairly large numbers of entities. |

Aion isn't trying to innovate anything. They have said this many, many times. I don't get where people are getting the idea that Aion has claimed to be anyhthing outside the box from. Almost every single release about what Aion is from NCsoft says that they set out to create a traditional RPG with some modern elements. The game would have a strong focus on story, but also have a new way of approaching PvP with the RvMvR setup and fortress control. NCsoft themselves have never, to my knowledge, said Aion is innovating anything new, just bringing back traditional RPG action with some new twists. |

I just read some of your post history. You don't like being the 'hero', go play Ryzom. Seriously you'll never, ever feel like a hero there trust me and I'm not saying that in bad way that's just how it is in that game. The lore of Aion isn't just that you get wings, you are an elite warrior who's lost their memory and in your journey you eventually get surrounded by other elites. Now in my book that's not exactly special or making everyone into a super powered hero at all, sure you are more powerful compared to normal humans and you can't die BUT you are a dime in a dozen as well. It's like that line from The Incredibles: "If everyone's super, then no one is" It's a matter of perspective really. (,,,)=^__^=(,,,)Game Latte Vidcast |

I don't understand why everyone flying = fail, either. I am in Chinese Aion and "flying is super fun" imo. Some area you can't fly but you can glide, it's a cool way to aoid dying when jump from high place and a way to avoid mobs, too. I haven't seen because players can fly = game fail... if bots and gold farmers crate a problem then the game might fail. |

The game is about more than flying. The characters are about being a daeva. It works and is very fun and feels fresh to me. As you level you open up greater flying time and different wings. So I disagree. |

They just adapted to living in the upper part of the world, where the nearby star dont shine.. Asmodea's Environment is much more harsh, which would explain asmodians have gotten claws to adapt to this environment... As far as the wings go.. In this world only the chosens get wings, according to the story not everyone gets them, but there is a chance for everyone.. there can be several things triggering it, maybe your in a hopeless battle, and your the last one standing, and in the final minute your wings comes out and you've been chosen, you are now a Daeva... Since Elyos is a place with lush lands, and sunlight, they believe they have been blessed by Aion, and they believe that Aion must hate Asmodians since they have been forced to live up where theres no light... this further fuels the battle... This is an excellent point to make. There is no good vs. evil here. It's faction versus faction... there is a lot of history behind it, all of which you're introduced to while playing. |

hmm, im disapointed! :( I was expecting some reason or point as to why flying would fail, and there is not all in the OP's post, just a baseless opinion. Since flight is weaved into the fabric of the game, much like it is in CoH I dont see any reason why it should fail. |

Originally posted by Cynthe Well...daevas can die, if there isn't an obelisk available. Which is what happened to a high ranking Asmodian who had a thing with a girl from a noble family. The story can be read from a note once you obtain a jewel box belonging to a necklace (early quest). But I digress. Yes, they're all just soldiers in the end.
Edit: oh and I hate these troll threads. Clearly people who have not played the game :D |

Sounds like the OP is lamenting the fact that every new MMO is not just an Everquest or LOTRO expansion, and that the genre is refusing to stagnate into that limited `High Fantasy' drivel from whence it grew. I'm gonna guess 40+... bearded... probably a LARPer. |

I predict this game to have a spiked launch, then quickly subside, and I base my opinion on AION's choice to engineer universal angel-wing flight into the game. Concerned? It didn't come off to me as if he/she was worried about something. More like passing judgment and making baseless predictions. But..oh well. |

lol, I thought he may have been baiting too but then I went through his latest post history and this really does seem like something that bugs him. I agree he could have worded it differently and his title doesn't inspire cool headed discussion. (,,,)=^__^=(,,,)Game Latte Vidcast |

I don't see anything strange about flying in this game. Honestly you should try playing it. Flying is a part of the world and the lore. As to North Americans not being able to deal with a fantasy that isn't based on old classical literature, I think you are pretty mistaken. I think a game with unique lore and a unique environment is exciting and refreshing. Everyone flying is part of the world design. It introduces a new dynamic to exploration and combat. I'm not saying this game will be a success as there are many other factors. But I do not thing Flying will contribute to it's failure. |
