Colin Campbell of Champions Online Daily News spent some time at Cryptic Studios recently, and among the other tidbits of info he brought back with him was an interesting gem: an Open Beta date.
Well, not quite. Not 100% anyways. Open Beta for Champions Online is slated for mid-August, which makes sense given the September release date. Of course, as this isn't 100% anything can change so keep that in mind! Get the full story here. Michael "MikeB" Bitton |

It wasn't that long ago, was it, when open beta was open to everyone? And not open only to pre-orders? Or am I crazy? Otherwise, looking forward to this title. |

"Generally, Open Beta comes with some sort of special offer on the retail release of the game and subscription, so watch out for announcements along those lines in the near future."
Maybe I am misunderstanding this, but to me it sounded like with buying the special offer on the game and subscription, comes open beta. |

What a bunch of games do is have the first stage or two of "open" (non-selected) beta be for people who have pre-ordered, but it often doesn't last long. |

It's about time, I'm peeved because I got dissed on the beta and alot of peeps I know are in. I want to test this game before release to know if I'm going to keep my reserve at gamestop. Of what I've seen on some leaked stuff it looks great and has alot of elements that are new. However, Ivan at my2coppers wrote that this is not a PVP centered game, DCUO is. Champs has BG's but no open pvp. Weird. |

Tbh I would expect to see the OB to be tied to a Pre-Order, that just seems to be the norm these days. I'm definately going to be buying the game, I've liked what I've seen and what I've read so far, the fact an OB is set for August means I'l get a little hands on a few days before I buy it.
