Admittedly, didn't provide my reasons as to why I thought the game stank, but here's my origi

Interesting to see how and by whom I was attacked for that thread.  In a way, it was a blatant attempt to stir up the fanbois.   But I also tried to mimic them...so often we saw the posts of how great darkfall was because of the great pvp, full loot...but really, nothing was really provided beyond that. One could simply deduce that the ones making these claims were impressed by only these executions...Some of us had seen it before (UO for me...and I admit, daunting as it was, when I first played UO I felt as I had been thrown in the deep water...sink or swim...by the way, this was pre-trammel (dont even know what that is since I played in 98))

In any case, my reasons (sure, ease to say now one could argue) were always the following:

A) Felt like a shareware title from beginning to end (don't ask me my level because in the end it doesn't matter)

B) Horrific sound and graphic animation...first person but no bounce when  walking?

C) Lack of quests

D) Horrible...absolutely crappy UI...please, my 5 month old daughter could write something better

E) A monthly fee on top of what I just mentioned? Gimme a break.

F) The constant immediate server down-times with no warning

I could go on and on..you've heard it all before.

The point I am trying to make is this....to all the people who so VIGOROUSLY defended the game, calling those of us out which didn't agree with you, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE for the sake of the genre and the sake of your own lives, learn to keep an open mind about things....when someone voices an opinion/view against/for something and you DON'T AGREE, try to see it in another light.

Rambant Fanboi/Hater attitude will never help any game nor any person in life.

If I'm wrong, I'll try to admit it.

As a side note: I didnt' talk to my father for the last 12 months of his life.  I was wrong.  It's not worth keeping a grudge.  Once a loved one is gone....they are gone.  There is no "reboot" or "restart" in this life.

Maybe, in hidsight, I shouldn't have posted this.  I am not entirely sure why I did.

I believe the game would be amazing if it just had Dragons In Space.

I agree with your criticisms, but people just wanted an open pvp game to succeed since the market is flooded with boring WoW clones.

I defended the game pre-release, but after playing it I now see the crapfest for what it is.

..especially if you're then going to try to pretend to be an innocent victim.

Perhaps you should post on the forum relevant to the game you play, and not worry about the fans of other games as much?

That really has nothing to do with the fact that as of today's announcement, it has become apparent that those of us who live in NA were scammed into thinking that we would be able to either transfer over to NA servers once they opened, or re-roll from scratch, without paying for the privelage to do so.

NOWHERE do I contradict myself...the merits and flaws of the game (such as they are) have NOTHING to do with my anger at AV's foolish decision on this matter.

And I'm sorry, but...."hostility"?? Please...I've have gone out of my WAY to not exibit my typical hostility in this thread...because that's what you want...you're just here to stir up trouble on a forum designated for a game you don't play, because you need your ego stroked, or need a little attention.

no DF is not the best of ITS kind...

a game from the past Mourning scammed players more harsh than DF has so far, but I will admit it is catching up. And just to point out...your little explanation, ego stroke or whatever that is, seems to be more about you than the person you are talking too. So next time you want to act all big and mighty, get some facts straight about what you are talking about before you start typing. Next time it might not make you look like a idiot.

This game turned into a shell of a depthless grind of linear skills in a world without environmental population or player population over time.  It fell so short of any mark that it would have made a special olympics participant cringe.

Even though I was hoping for this www.youtube.com/watch , they are a few years away from that.  And I'm left with their development team saying dee dee dee.

Sandboxes and leveless games? I don't think so, Eve and Ryzom are both in better shape and are a lot more polished. To say that they are more fun is of course a matter of opion but I still say those games are better.

As for the free looting I don't actually know another game that is out and provides it, so it is the only game there making it both best and worst, until Mortal online comes out but it is not impressing in any way.

DF did have some really good ideas but the devs didn't have a realistic sense of money and time, forcing them to release the game in a very bad state. I don't agree with the OP in many cases, like quests, you don't need those at all. The games problem is that they should have had more people working on it and included all the features the promised, and most of all had better ways to deal with cheaters and exploiters.

I blame Tasos, the guy said that the game was in better shape than any MMO just released and with all features included in a interview in december, and that was just not true. With a better funding and maybe a better lead dev the game could have been something totaly different.

I don't say that the game doesn't have it's good parts however but the number of current subs are sad. Once again we see that you can't release a MMO in such a shape.
