It's always nice to see players agree with bait and switch practices. |

Do not argue with seanmctroll he is one of the biggest fanboys here spamming every post with pseudo-smartassness from here to forumfall.

This is just an observation, so all you remaining DF fans don't blow a fuse by me saying this - take it in the spirit that it's meant.

Thats how all games work, mate. You can't make a Warhammer character in USA with a EU account. You are mixing two different things here: gameplay... one character per server.. to stop people from doing EVE spy works. And a accounting thing: You need a USA account to play in a usa server, and a EU acount to play on a eu server. |

So just who is the NA publisher? This is a scam, plain and simple. Tacos seems to forget that the wayback machine shows everything about this shoddy company back to 2001. You can spin anyway you want but the facts are still out there for anyone that cares to take the time to look. As to the transfer of data between servers...newsflash for the morons out there.... the servers are hosted by the same company on the same infrastructure so transfer of data would be trivial and due to the sub 15K number of subs probably take very few minutes. This makes Deceit-n-lie look like a poor attempt at scamming customers. This has to be the piece-de-resistance to date. BTW there are NO legal reasons why they can't allow transfers between markets. NONE, NADA, ZIP. If you can provide me with a citation from a case where it was decided that you can't sell between markets / transfer data between markets then I will retract my statement, but I don't expect any of you to provide that citation. Anyone that works for a multi-national corp knows that data and products cross market lines all the time. The only real restrictions are defense and intelligence related.

Something just occurred to me. The three month wait for the transfer... ...this gives people who start a brand new character on the NA1 to catch up to the people who will be transfering over to NA1 in 3 months.
Makes sense to me.
Sidenote: I purchased a Chinese Aion account so I could test out the game and see if it was anything special. I do not expect NCSOFT to give me an American account for free. Nor do I expect them to transfer my characters to any NA server from the Chinese ones.... ...just food for thought |

Indeed, infact they will still be ahead of people. If I am correct EU servers will have been out longer then 3 months when NA ones come up. Sure you can't take your gear, but your skills will be ahead of fresh characters on them.

Money grab. Another accurate term to describe what Aventurine is doing, again. The first being the blatantly active and misleading pitch to North American players to lure them to the EU server and plunk down @ $50 for an account while telling them that they "will" accommodate character transfers once their server is available.
As many were wise to their shifty conduct over time, most, if not everyone that subscribed, didn't know it was a ruse to get immediate cash to fund the operation for the EU server and that what was not being revealed is that they (Aventurine) knew all along that they would bait the North American base into purchasing an account once, then reveal immediately before they let live that second server for NA, that those same players will have to re-purchase an account to play on what they lead them to believe would be just a 'transfer'. Don't think for a moment that the 'Transfer Fee' wont be any more discouraging. |

They may be ahead in skills depending on the "Restrictions" that Aventurine will be doing. But just having your starter weapon and nothing else and have to grind resources/mobs all over again to get money/gear will sure be fun. The only ones that will benefit are those that have clan mates that are starting fresh on NA. For those that don't have clan mates starting fresh, is it really worth the price to transfer with nothing but your starter weapon? I do like how Aventurine is going to cover their butts by making a new web page and the "Free Expansion" which will probably be the missing content that Tasos said was feature complete before EU1 opened. |

Quote: AD6 - Darkfall Support Posted On: 21 Jun 2009 12:10 AM ------ Players in North America are welcome to participate in the European Launch. The plans for US servers aren’t finalized at the time of this announcement. We will offer the option for character migration to US servers for N. American players who wish to use it. We have had people playing without problem from all over the US and Canada. That being said, our servers are located in Germany and distance does affect ping-time. - Tasos ------ Our first release is the European release. The North American release will follow as soon as possible but not until a few months later. We’re allowing players from N. America to participate in the European release due to this fact. Of course we’ll make some allowances for these players if they would like to move to the US server when it launches. - Tasos ------ They're right after the European servers, but not soon enough for a lot of players to wait. We don't have a solid date to announce on a N. American server and that's why we're allowing N. American players the option to play on the European server. Ideally we would have loved to be able to launch world-wide but we just don't have the resources to do it right. - Tasos ------ Athens, Greece – December 5th, 2008 - Audio Visual Enterprises SA and Aventurine SA in a joint statement today announced that their highly anticipated MMORPG title Darkfall Online will launch across Europe on January 22nd, 2009. North American players are also welcome to participate in the European launch of Darkfall which will precede a North American launch. ------ So, let me turn this around on you... Where is the very important piece of information about transfer delays, fees, and client rebuy if starting on NA launch day? Don't you realize if that very important piece of information was stated beforehand, many of us NA players would not have started until the NA launch? I'm willing to bet that Tasos knew, which in my opinion, is why he conveniently failed to mention it. $$$. You asked for implied text or hints. I'm sure you'll spin it in some way to fit your gripe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the Aion devs aren't LYING TO YOU to get you to buy the game now, are they?? |

Ok, let’s add this up a little and see what we are in for. Four years of promising a game that lacks many elements promised, followed by a …different kind of launch classified by some as Top Secret, a shift from what was promised to a more…self administered “hard core” style of play. Game site reviews are…spread to 2 sides of a pendulum with a mid-level players rating on this site. Macro’s and Hacks and bears (OH MY) on the EU server with debates about game coding smeared all over youtube. Then a “you can switch to the NA server” advertisement is put out, lacking any mention of charge to old and prospective players. |

This and character limitation is what scares me most about the NA servers. I understand the reasoning on character limitation originally having only one server. I do not understand the transfer option, skills seem far more imporant that gear initially. Fight my Brute Clicky!! |
