This is a classic and disappointing Aventurine move for those that might have carried over to the North American server.
Not only do those that want to play on a NA server have to re-purchase the client for $50, for those that rather wait 3 months for a character transfer, are going to be hit with a transfer fee that, I bet the farm, will be no different than had that player purchased a new client.
This is rich. |

It's a smart move for them to charge again, most of the player base will complain but in the end they'll still pay.....and AV could use the cash influx. Smart business move on their part, for sure.

TBH, I expected some gloating from Darkfall defenders over the official NA server launch date after critics said it would never happen, but after reading threads here and on the official forums, it's probably a good thing they don't. |

This will accually work out for me. I thought i was going to have to delete my EU character, since its only one character per account. Since he is already a decent character I can just sell him and make a new account. I guess its one way to keep the EU server alive. |

It will no doubt gain them a small windfall of cash because yes... some will re-purchase to play on the NA server. In the long run though they just put the final nail in the coffin themselves.
At this time of all-time low population they did NOT need even more bad PR. They did NOT need a good number of their supporters to turn on them and join the ranks of the critics/haters. With this move that is exactly what they did.
Put a fork in DarkFall... they are done. |

You know, I never bothered to get in the middle of this stuff on the forums here. I bought the game and liked it and thought all the haters here were just a bunch of gits, and tho some still are, now i just feel... scammed. I used to stick up for DF to my friends. I was wrong, they were right, fuck this company and it's game. |

Theres a clarification. If you wait 3 months, you will be transfered (with a fee) but you will not need to buy the client again. |

It's not, it's brilliant.
Look, with a waiting period of eight years of snail-slow development and a release which featured only about 30% of the features that they promised in place, AV must have looked around and said..."Wow, these guys will put up with *anything* and still give us money". And with that mindset, you don't have to worry about PR or the such, you've already been able to prove to yourself that your fans will put up with anything, and that's the time to go into "get every dime out of those players" mode.
Sounds harsh, but they have a chance to line their pockets, and they should jump at the chance. Remember the old saying "A fool and his money are soon parted". |
