On the American server: The American server will launch on July 7th. Characters from the European server can be cloned and moved without their possessions 3 months after the American launch. Certain restrictions and charges will apply, to be announced at a later date. In the meanwhile if you want to play on the American server at launch you need to buy the American Darkfall client. More information on the American server will be available in a few days.

Darkfall will launch a massive free expansion update the first week of July, something that the Darkfall team has been working on for a while now. This expansion includes major new features and major content, PvE, and PvP updates.

In the last few patches we had implemented several major optimizations making it possible to support even larger battles and sieges and more concurrent users than ever before. As a result, massive battles now run smoother than ever. We’ve seen some of the largest and the highest frequency of massive battles this past month, which has helped us find even more ways to optimize the Darkfall experience.

As a result of these optimizations we’ve also been able to keep sales open most of the time. We’re still being careful because Darkfall resubscription rates remain very high even though this is a time for exams and/or vacations. It’s still difficult to buy Darkfall but we hope that after the US servers have launched it will be easier for new players to learn about and to buy Darkfall.

To that effect, a new site is coming, along with new forums for Darkfall players only. These forums will be readable by the public and only players with active accounts will be able to post in them. The current public forums will remain active for anyone to post in, but moderation will be stronger. This because we’re getting people from other communities with the sole intention of disrupting our forums. The Darkfall community has always been a source of good feedback, constructive criticism, and inspiration for the Darkfall developers and we'll keep it that way by doing away with the non-constructive elements.

Our next major patch will be included in the Darkfall expansion the first week of July.

Clarification: American players wanting to clone and transfer their characters do not have to buy another client. Everyone else needs to buy the American Darkfall client to play on the American server. The European rights and the American rights to Darkfall do not belong to the same company, therefore you cannot freely transfer between the two territories, as is the case with most MMORPGs. Our offer of character cloning / transfer to American players is because we had said that we would try to accommodate them should they want to start playing on the European server.

Biggest money grab company I ve ever seen. The writing is on the wall, scam!! I played EU server and theres no way in hell I would buy a new copy to play. Absolutely ridiculous for the people who bought wanting to play ahead of time, just to come to the NA server. Even if I had my account going I wouldn t continue in protest.

just wow.  I bought the game, gave it a shot and was plannin on goin back once NA launched.  I hope they do well enough that my sub won't be missed.  No way in hell I'm buyin the client again.

Ok, first of all i have to say that i didn't expect them to actually launch an american server, i am amazed. :D

what bothers me is :

- EU-1 will finally die imo, it is already stagnating / dying - many people will buy a new account after the opening of US-1 and DF has a very bad reputation over here in europe. they left the shop open for many weeks now and yet didn't manage to get a decent amount of new subscriptions, what do they expect when they start the american server? the europeans are stuck on their fucked up and exploited server without the possibility to play on the fresh one ... wtf av?

- why do the american players have to wait THREE months to transfer to the new server? ... i know that it would give them an unfair advantage over new subscribers for the US-1 server, but do they actually expect the people to wait another 3 months and play with a bad ping to finally be able to transfer? why don't they at least let these players create a new toon immediately after release, like convert their account from eu to us with the possibility to delete the current toon and transfer their old one over after 3 months?

yes it would be an advantage to be able to transfer right after release, but isn't it on the other hand a disadvantage for them to wait 3 months, then transfer and have to deal with the fact that all clanstones are taken? this smells fishy, like trying to make them buy a new account for cash that they desperately need.

- expansion sounds nice, maj0r updates and stuff - but we now know tasos very well and how he tends to extremely exaggerate, i don't think that he suddenly out of the blue has turned 180° and is actually delivering promises of major content updates. :)

Oh ... my ... GOD ! What kind of even greater battles is he talking about? Do you remember how he claimed that they had 2k+ battles going on? Wow, they got even bigger now? ... c'mon :D

i also like the part about how they still have such high demand but managed to keep the shop open, this makes absolutely no sense. also, why open most of the time? it was open 24/7 the whole time since they re-opened the shop the last time, wtf?

and what the fuck is he talking about "other communities trying to disrupt his boards and they want to keep their forum clean with constructive criticism" when they fucking delete every post that doesn't praise their game ... they only leave threads open that were posted by diehard fans who smoke aventurines cocks, i'm puzzled - is he for real or is this just a witty excuse for their nazi methods? no other gaming community fucking cares about his game, most of them don't even know that there is darkfall because the concept doesn't appeal to them, most of the people that post there are either playing the game or it's people who are interested / disappointed. (who get heavily flamed or mocked by shills / fanbois)

this guy is a clown of epic proportions. if they really manage to fix the game within the first month of july (which i doubt) and i would rebuy the game ... then i am stuck with a dead, exploited to hell european server or would have to play with a 200ish ping on the american server. fucking great, guess i will have to stick with eve and wait for mortal online, which might be the fucking same crap all over again, bah! :D

 When I first read I thought it was hilarious because like everyone else thought they'd scammed US players who bought EU version, but read update seems like somepeople haven't. they are not charging people twice think they just fail at consise english.

Hope this "expansion" really is that and not just normla patch. hope they deliver and update website etc. hopefully finally get this game going properly and at least slightly more proffesionally.

SO my question from this expansion sized content update is....who tested this? Was it that super advanced AI that was testing all that time? And what is this miracle patch? Took them 7 yrs to make the jumbled mess they have but yet in the short time they managed to make the miracle patch when their other patches broke as much as fixed, This should be golden and there needs to be more popcorn in the house.

It would greatly help if they just tried to be crystal clear transparent, at least now. Asking for money for the NA client sounds just.. weird. What changes are going to be done to justify this change, for example? If the client is being charged for, why the people who choose to transfer will pay a fee and not the client as the ones who had a fresh start? Is the fee going to have the same price of the NA client?

Don't complain if the playerbase is going nuts. Aventurine themselves don't even make it clear what will they be asking money for, nor how are the plans for everything.

I wonder if this free expansion is just some of the initial features being implemented.

I do feel bad for the NA players. I think they are being screwed whether they are transfering or starting over. I don't know of any other game that makes you pay to start a fresh character on another server. I can understand having one character/ one account. But damn let them delete their EU toon to play on NA.

I know most here hate SOE how ever I play EQ2 and can have 7 characters on the EU servers and 7 characters on the NA servers. All for the purchase on one account. Aventurine is insane in my opinion.

They've been able to keep the sales open most of the time due to optimizations? Is that what he calls the continued cancellations of players reducing load on the servers? "Through the cancellation of accounts, we have optimized the servers to handle additional players".

Still difficult to buy Darkfall? The store's open 24/7 for how long now?

It's baffling how boundless Tasos' penchant for spin and pure BS continually proves to be.

As for the "huge expansion"... Yeah... right. Translated from "Tasos" into plain English.. that likely means more un-tested content that Tasos will insist is "quality", while his forum mods have the "delete thread" function bound to a single key-stroke to remove any threads posted discussing issues with it, right next to the "ban" key to get rid of the "offending poster". Really looking forward to the feedback from those who get to experience it... that is.. the ones who will look at it with a truly critical eye, and not blindly praise anything AV does as "brilliant".

The same universe where his new expansion (And I'd bet my car on this) is everything they promised and cut out with no real lack of warning. And this same expansion will only be half of it cause of "unforseen" problems, and will be relegated to the next expansion, which will release with half of what is left, and will continue until they run out of promised features (I say about 8 expansions before this happens).

Sadly for them, what won't come out from this psuedo-universe is the fact that there, they are gods, and everyone loves them and kisses each toe and each knuckle of both feet, and to capitalize on it, all Darkfall devs had 4 extra feet grafted to their bodies in various spots.
