Maybe people just don't care about this game anymore.

Well, I decided now would be as good a time as any to give AoC my third and final go (I gave VG 3 chances, so I can give AoC the same).

I've been resubbed since around 8am est this morning and have now played about 6 hours (Lunch break, smoke breaks, etc.) .

I've checked out a bit of the Commons, and popped into Attilus' Mansion for a quick run through. I also created my level 50, which started with a gold piece, a handful of silver and some green equipment (pretty cool). DX10 is running slightly smoother, but it isn't nearly as optimized as I expected it to be after the amount of time its been on live (Have they not tweaked it at all since popping it on to live, well, besides a bit in 1.05?).

The guild city looks a little more city like with a few townspeople and whores hanging around. It looks like they changed the positions of buildings yet again (I hate when they do that lol).

PvE combat feels, eh, slightly slower and less responsive on my demo then pre-1.05 (Havoc specced, just as I've been since launch). I haven't had a chance to hit any PvP yet, so I can't coment on that.

As of right now I'm just not feeling it. In a way I'm glad I resubbed to check it out, but at the same time I'm sort of regretting the $15 (Yeah, I got laid off and that $15 could have been used towards a new game ... or a bottle of beam :P).

aoc and funCON have failed once more and this game needs to be sunset asap

In AoC's case I have the impression that a lot of the bashers are people who generally felt tricked when the game did not deliver what they expected, and especially because of the problems the game suffered in the weeks and months after release, so it has little to do with how the game is now.

Actually, I think the worst case scenario for the most bitter ones is if the game keeps improving like it has. If it went under, then at least they get a sense of revenge, and the old "I told you so".

Most bashers have long gone though. We only get to enjoy some of the more hard-core ones.

I wasn't trying to bash at all, I was just giving my honest opinion about what I've experienced so far with AoC 1.05.

And, as I stated previously, I'm just not feeling it. Which saddens me a great deal as I've watched this game for years, and I was as hyped up about it as anyone. I had some high hopes for 1.05, but so far it doesn't seem any different (perhaps a little slower) now than it did back when I resubbed in Feb for 1.04.

If they released a "welcome back" sort of promo I would give it another shot, as I did WAR when they did theirs, because I'd love to give it a try but I don't want to waste any money.

Whats to worry about? Soon as there new MMO is released (the secret world) AoC will be taken off-line. They made the cash they needed at launch. Now AoC is on life support milking subs until TSO is released, and the cycle will start anew, because funcom is excellent in hyping up a game and making a killing off the first month.

Most of the threads are positive (strange in the forum of any game ... even the best ones) and people in game are having fun. You DO read what they are saying in the chat channels don't you? I mean, I just know your not some lamer that bashes a game after a big patch your not not even playing right? Have you noticed that the world seems very busy right now? Maybe people are re-rolling from scratch to check it out but there are tons of people running around all over the place. Are you playing a high level char or did you also start from scratch?

positive? You have got to be kidding me ROFL. I could see using the word hopeful because the only ones left playing are the hard core fans of the game and have gotten used to putting up[ with about anything, but I would hardly call those threads positive.

I think a couple of people nailed it, in that no one really gives a rats butt about AoC anymore. It had it's moment but it was a brief one at best.

75% of the "OMFG FAILED" OR "THIS SUCKS" threads have been reduced by 75% while the population has slowly been increasing.

They are slowly but surely starting to be replaced by "this game rocks!" or a "I resubbed" thread.

It's a huge achievement for Funcom and major props to them for turning around a former train wreck.

Some of the largest and most critical guilds of Funcom have returned and more importantly are staying.

Also their forum for bugs and suggestions is filled up of primarily suggestions.

Every MMO company that uses their forums as a major source to track feedback has similar posts and suggestions.

This is obvious to any experienced and knowledgable MMO player.

It shouldn't need to be clarified but I see from one reply in here that it did....

Lol what????  I havnt seen a single thread saying aoc rocks, hell it is still the piss poor game it was at launch, no matter how many failure patches they release for it.  If the game was fundamentally designed with huge flaws no patch can save it.  Maybe Aoc has become just irrelevant now, nobody even cares whats happening with it thats why nobody can be arsed to post about it.  The lakc of posting good or bad dsont mean the game has suddenly becaosme good, I swear you people live in your own little bubble, I suppose Vanguard is super good now as well??

Everyone is to busy bashing Aion, SW:TOR and all the mmofps games coming out in the near future.

...... let us not forget the random oxymoron, some use as a justification as well.

Hype is just that "hype", some buy into it others do not. You see it on any forum dedicated to any game. Some just can not help but get overzealous. Causing them to latch on to hope of the second coming. When it fails to happen (always) you see what you saw with AOC. It will happen with just about every game coming out as well, people still have not learned to expect an MMO, and what MMOs offer. Anyway....

Nah, they are going to keep it running ad infinitum ;D Like they do with AO. Game is 8 years old, but they still have small dev team on it. I belive they only kill games when they aren't profitable anyway. They aren't doing it like one other corp...
