The basic question for anyone who's experience higher end RvR is: Will playing a tank in RvR be effective/worthwhile to the group? By tank, I mean just that - not a tank archetype geared and specced to do dps just to be effective. I'm talking about an extremely tough, low-dps character being an effective asset to his group in RvR. This goes something toward character interactivity and group synergy. Does a tank have certain skills or abilities that work synergistically with other friendly players, or is of particular concern to the enemy side? Thanks for any info that can be provided! Very good question, I am also interested in the answer. Warhammer was the first game I have seen that a tank could do anything worthwhile in PvP and not only was it useful but fun to play as. Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls. |

I would be interested to know as well. I do think Templars get some stuns and knockbacks/downs later in the game so I guess that is viable. The only game that I've played where a tank is truely used as a tank in pvp was warhammer (and Guild wars to an extent with body blocking), other than that I haven't see one yet. |

I've seen videos of templars using a skill that pulls (multiple?) people to him, and I believe I saw it work in pvp. |

yeah that pull would be badass when several enemys are trying to nuke your Cleric, would be like scorpion from mortal kombat "Get over here!" |

Wondering the same too here since I've been playing tanks for the past 10 years in MMORPGs and looking forward to play a Templar..... |

If his first name is Frank...middle name The....then all things are viable.....otherwise....all bets are off. It's better to lurk in forums and be thought a fool...than to endlessly "Quote" and remove all doubts. |

Same thing here. I enjoy playing tanks, or heavy melee type characters, in MMOs, but for PvP "tanking" hasn't been an effective way to play. Warhammer is the only game that has made tanking in PvP an actual worthwhile and fun style of play, and was wondering if it would also be viable/fun in Aion. I hope to hear from someone who's perhaps experienced it already. Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned. |

I heard a Templar won a Korean tournament. Couldn't find any info on it however. |

Yes a Templar did. However the PvP is rock/paper/scissors mostly. The Templar won but it was a mix of several classes in the top 8. Templar is one of the more gear dependant classes as well, they will suck in greens but they will dominate in Blues+. So yes tanks are viable in PvP, in 1.0 they suck but in 1.2 they were given a new skill that enhanced their DPS and made them what some think a little overpowered. |
