Patience is a virtue, reason a necessity

Okay, im going to use my handy dandy, omfg translator for this!

I think, what hes saying. Is that hes in the preview weekend, and he thinks that the quest information is not completely translated. Either that or there is a bunch of people in this preview weekend speaking L33T.

Seeing as I dont speak the OP's language I cant be certain.

P.S. For quick reference I speak, English and Greek.

Well I think I know what the OP is talking about.

Levels 1-10 only? Why?

You will be the first to see our re-worked localization. Our team of published writers have been working hard on the in-game dialogue and story and we need YOUR help to make sure it has all been implemented correctly. Level 1-10 content is our focus for this event, so please take your time to read the text and report anything you find.

That's why they are having this preview to work out translation, errors and bugs.

What I'm saying is the NPC text is ridiculous. The present participle form of a word ending should be "ing" not "in". The quest text looks like Jed, Jethro, Elly Mae, and Granny wrote it.

EDIT: My original post was making fun of the NPC text. I don't talk like that. No one does -- except for those characters from the movie Deliverance.

Yes, because we all know that implied accents are a sure sign of intelligence.

Hence why this is a closed beta, only allowing leveling to 10. Why don't you make your reason for being productive and post about it on there beta forums (since this is what they asked for) which you should have access to if your in Beta.

Its not an error. It's deliberate. Why? Because they terminate the words ending in 'in' with an apostrophe. That's the way you denote the slang form of 'ing'

Regardless, it's bad form to use it as often as they do. It makes the Asmodian NPCs sound like half-wits.

You guys cease to understand his logic behind this post.

He is simple mocking the quest text, not transaltion errors, the OP finds quests in AION written as if they were hill billies and hicks throughout, and he is just informing the community.

Why would I post this on the beta forums? Its not a bug.

I didn't indend for the post to be constructive. I was making fun of the text. Jesus, you people are so sensitive about your fucking beloved game that you can't even recognize something said tongue-in-cheek when you see it. Grow a sense of humor.

Yeah, I just thought he was ragin'

In that case, my thought is that the original translators were trying to adopt a more common tone or a sort of "homey" feeling with the translations (is it a rural setting?) yet wasn't aware that their efforts would be a miss as far as how the players' reception would be.

I suppose it's possible that they think it's quaint but don't realize that it's just annoying to some.

Well, it is annoying because NOBODY talks like that. I know people who could be considered hillbillies and they don't even talk like that. It's a stereotype taken to the extreme.

However, if you put a little tune to the text while you are reading it, it sounds kind of like Bob Dylan singing a tune - with the whining included (for those of you who are forum rage-o-holics, this is also known as a tongue-in-cheek statement. Sit down, take a deep breath and think of a calm ocean).

i love giving my written word more flavor by purposeful mispelling for accent and intent and culture.

if they (NCSoft) want the the asmods to have a twang, why should that be a problem?

Why don't they just copy in the goddamn non existant eng patch because it is practically flawless besides 1 or 2 accidentle keystroaks, but at least they have it translated in a way that makes sense and is very well written. Even tho it doesnt exist....

Well I think it's just that. They don't realize it is a stereotype and think that it is a very real way of indicating a more rural coloquial setting.

It's possible that though someone can read and speak another language that they might misinterpret how regional speech should be. I speak and read a bit of spanish but it is all academic. I couldn't begin to write a less formal dialogue in spanish without a bit of research. I could easily see myself taking what I thought is a more "country" tone and completely wrecking it, not understanding the subtleties of the speech.

It's probably why they posted that they are only having lvls 1-10 to concentrate solely on the translation.
