Someone already made a thread about it here: www.aionsource.com/forum/general-discussion/15615-euro-us-retail-varriance.html Anyway, I agree, it's why I don't buy from Steam anymore and (one) of the reasons I won't buy anything from NCsoft again if I can avoid it.
It's almost to the point where some companies charge you double because you live in Eruope, I can pay in $ or Euro for many games, like on Amazon, so not all companies do this. |

Then I guess you two don't play many games since they all have the same price point. It's a Jeep thing. . .

Well as I see it the only reason the people who use Euros are paying more than americans is because our money decreased in value right? When the dollar was worth more than a Euro did americans get to pay lower prices on games? I don't recall that happening (Someone correct me if it did happen I don't think the dollar has been above the Euro for 7 years now) The company is free to charge whatever prices they wish in each Economic community if they feel they should balance the price for all countries, cool, but if not oh well. |

Again, not all companies do this, so the person saying "then you can't buy games anymore" is wrong, because plenty of companies do respect the exchange rates. |

Do not feel bad i live here in Canada and it is the same thing. But as i write this the exchange rate is 1 USD = 1.395 EU now 49.95 usd = 69.43 EU. But you also have to look at the banks. How much does the bank charge to change $$$ ? Not sure any bank in the world would do it for free. =) Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR / LoTRo / CO / Aion Waiting for FFXIV to be the game it should. so sad =( |

Umm I said the dollar decreased in value, Which implies that the dollar was once 'worth more' as a currency than the Euro and now no longer is, so thanks for repeating my point in different wording.... |

Don't worry Lily, we all know you weren't going to buy this game anyway since you were so disappointed. You would much rather complain about the price of a game that you were never going to buy.

Asian deal with MMORPG differently, most mmorpg there is free, WoW is free there aswell. its just the norm there and the morm here(wesy) is to pay. As far as i am aware there is no plans for champiosn online to be released in Asia yet, and even if it does it will probably be free. |

The Euro got introduced in 1996, but this was only on paper and not a real currency people could pay with. The EURO we can actually hold in our hands, got introduced 2002, and since 2002 the USD never was worth more then the EURO. The lowest I can remember since the Euro got introduced was 1 Euro = 1.03 USD and this is, how the EURO initially was created for, to have a currency that matches the US 1:1. However, for the last 3 years the EURO was never less worth then 1.25 USD and tody it's 1 EURO = 1.40 USD. So stop keep talking crap, that the americans were in the same situation before, then we europeans are today. It doesn't hold true to the reality. Fact is, for the last 7 years, since we europeans actually pay in EURO, we're paying allways more then the americans, if the company does only switch out the currency-sign. |

That's the thing we're debating over. Most publishers are greedy freakin b/tards and don't let us do so. |

I don't think it's possible for Aion.
But in general, that's what many people are doing. Why do you think I buy stuff from Amazon.com (US), in $, and let it get flown over here instead of buying it in the store around the corner. Because buying something from the US (for some items, not all) is often cheaper than buying it here. I have to say that this is for *some* items, it really depends on the company and the type of item. I'm not going to buy clothing or food any cheaper abroad, but movies / games / books, depending on the brand and company, yes, often it's much cheaper just letting it get flown in from the US instead of buying it here.
What happens is that: 1. Stores here will sell less. 2. Companies here will probably sell more. Since they tend to be cheaper than foreign products. European games with a European publisher are usually quite cheap compared to US / Asian games. |
