I actually quit when i heard they were lowering the mount reuiremet to lvl 20. I remember way back before BC when max level players would look for BLUE items because epic items were so rare. now before I quite I had a "If its not purple I don't want it" attitude (excluding trinkets because there are some that are blue and just pwn... like the WotLK Alchemist Stones) There are times when one must ask themselves is it my passion that truly frightens you? Or your own? |

My guild. We all like each other. They even make retreads of old content more enjoyable. . . That and I have come this far for the Violet Proto Drake I'm not giving up now. I just need brewfest! (yes I know it's purple, but it's fast!) |

Friends. I cut the chord a long time ago as I couldn't suffer through the mindless grind anymore. Most of my RL and online friends that played it still do...becaues they are afraid to quit and lose the conneciton. Seriously, that's the only thing keeping LOTS of people subscribed. This is why I don't consider WoW much of a game anymore. It's a social network application with lots of distracting mini games (BGs, arenas, easy as shit raids, rep grinds, mount grinds, trinkets for your avatar, etc) to keep you busy while you chat. And getting a group of people to quit en masse and move to another game is also problematic. I tried. Either people weren't interested in a particular IP or were interesting in something else an no one would ever agree...so they kept grinding. I said "Sorry, sick of this. I'm going to play LotRO next and TOR after that. If you get bored that's where I'll be." That's where they ALL still are. But I 3 people have joined me in LotRO, and a 4th is considering as he gave up on Wow too. |

A family member of mine got an account.
We exclusively group together, turning off world chat, etc. We play at our own pace, don't care what equipment each other has, and are having fun exploring the world and doing quests. We don't play every day, but about 2-3 times per week. We don;t get burned out and we don't worry about getting to max level.
I am entirely happy with our experience, but I do realize that it's not typical. _____________________________ |

When we were level 60 and reroll a lvl 1, 4 slot bags drop regularly in the lvl 1-5 starter zone. When we were level 70 and reroll a lvl 1, we enjoy a quest, super easy quest that gives us a 4 slot bag. What does that mean? The old things are old. Anyone with a lvl maxed can finance a lvl 1 for the basics. There is no point for the game to make it super hard. A mount at lvl 20 only makes it easier to go from one zone to another. The mobs in WC will still kill him, whether he arrives on foot or horseback. Fact is, powerlvling by a lvl maxed in old world instances are making the content trivial, much more than a damn mount. If the lvl 20 has friends, he does not even need a mount. 2 friends can move around and summon him to instance stones, and he never need to leave orgrimmar until he is being summoned. Well if you need to pick an argument, try something else. A mount is trivial now. The road from lvl 20 to 40 only takes some hours grinding SM. With an aoeing 80 of course. You know a good lvl 80 can enter the cathedral building and pull 1/4 of the mobs in 1 pull and aoe them down in 20 sec. 4 pulls and that is the entire cathedral proper. It takes more time waiting for the pools to come over than killing them. |

I keep logging in because I'm having fun playing.
I guess that's the only reason really. Isn't that really what playing a game is about? |

Originally posted by MMO-Maniac Exactly. Why do I keep playing? Well if I stopped my wife would kill me, (not really but she loves WOW and feels towards it like I DAOC - my first MMO). Mainly, because of something that happened last night. I am playing an alt. I am going to get him to 60 and shut off his exp gains and hope I can find some like-minded people to raid the old content with. Anyway, I am doing quests in the Barrens. I ahve leveled 3 or 4 characters in the Barrens so I know the zone well. Well, I am doing the quests from the guard who walks around in the South Barrens - the ones for the quarry and the dwarf keep. Well I found 2 quests I have never done before!! I was shocked and amazed. 4 years later and I am still finding quests I have never done. That is what keeps me playing. Even after 4 years, there is still something new. |

I would say friends that I have made over the years. I miss the old days when WoW was more challenging, but it still has enough that drew me to it in the first place to keep me around. This sword here at my side dont act the way it should |

Originally posted by Echobe Well, I have a similar problem. Being an achiever type myself, it is pretty hard to stop playing until you have maxed out everything. You should play WoW, if you still having fun in the game. I have seen too many frustrated people who destroy the harmony in guilds because they no longer have fun. Sometimes it can be hard to let go something you have invested significant amount of time, but once you affect people around you - it is time to let go. I have gotten frustrated with WoW many times and been on breaks many times. I have played this game since the US closed beta, but usually end up quitting for the same reasons as before. Even tried selling off my characters, but once WoTLK launched I got pulled back in. Only to quit for same personal reasons as before. If there had been another good title in the market, I would probably not have resubscribed at all. My advice is to subscribe to WoW, if you think you can get at least couple of months worth of fun from it. However, looking at your reasons to leave the game, I think you will end up leaving it for the same reasons. "The person who experiences greatness must have a feeling for the myth he is in." |

Every other MMO I've played is either slowly deing (War, AoC), run by people who just want to make fast cash from the MMO industry, or are boring and overhyped grind fests (e.g. Aion). The only other MMO I really liked was SWG, it had a LOT of freedom which is missing MMOs.
Wow is doing the best and keeps it's players, because it just is the best at the moment. I have high hopes for TOR and really hope it's good, but I have a feeling it will just be another AoC; a good game at it's core but left unfinished, buggy and unpolished which will scare people away for good. |

Not enough races in the other games, and if there are races in games other than human, the faciton system sucks. WoW factions can suck if there is an imbalance, but it's better than others, imo. ![]() |
