Who else thinks this is a retarded story? (released yesterday)

Japanese Newspaper Cites Intel Analysis Suggesting Launch In Early July Capable Of Nearing U.S. Islands

Okay, let's think this through like rational adults and not like scared lemmings.

--------------------------

- North Korea would fire a missle at Hawaii.

- The missile would either be nuclear tipped or non nuclear tipped.

- If it was nuclear tipped and actually worked on impact, a part of Hawaii wouldn't exist anymore. The United States would retaliate and North Korea wouldn't exist anymore. The United States would then proceed to pre-emptively strike or invade any smaller countries that have nukes we deem potentially hostile or falling into the "wrong hands" (Pakistan) or countries we suspect of developing them and bomb them pretty hard.

- If it was not nuclear tipped, the United States would invade North Korea and take over the country no matter what China said. (I think China wouldn't do anything actually) North Korea would then be merged with South Korea, something that the U.S. was trying to do for decades and communism would be totally eradicated from this country.

----------------------------------

Basically, it's a lose/lose for North Korea. So why would someone suggest they'd do this just for giggles knowing it's the end of North Korea any way you slice it?

Anyone think this is just a case of Japanese news sensationalism as well?

You send a missile on hawai without a nuke so the american invade right?  But then you hide your nuke on your own border so when the invasion start you detonate the nuke killing the invader.

Seriously, If I was N. Korea, I would keep my nuke to nuke the invader.

This isn't an RTS game.  You don't just ambush a superpower.  We'd know it's there 2 seconds after they put it there.

But yea, N. Korea gains nothing from firing upon anyone.  KJ fires one missile at another country and him and probably his sons are dead within a year.

Good plan.

Pres Obama would still ask China for permission to attack North Korea (which would be denied, then he would say oh well I tried). Then he would apologize to NK for asking China for permission to defend the US against them for launching a missle threat.

I would nuke the complet coast to stay in power.  And yea not too sure about the superpower thingy, just have to place a guy every kilometer with a scope and a talkywalkie to locate the invasion.

I'd nuke Okinawa ending the invasion at it's staging area.

How would you nuke the "complete coast" when in your scenario, he only has two nukes?

And who says we invade by land? This is not D-Day and North Korea is already accessible by land. We already have 40k troops there now and tactical nuke subs off the coast as well as planes that would have conventially bombed the hell out of them the minute the first missile went off.

We already know where all their facilities are through satellites. There was a regular guy who already posted the whole of North Korea on Google Earth, including Jong's palaces and their military stuff. If a regular guy can do that with Google, don't you think our intelligence knows way more than that already?

One dimensional thinking.

North Korea can be accessed by many ways. This is the 21st century, not 1944.

Alright then I would nuke my own city once they are taken by the invasion forces.  You would lose thousand of soldier for a wasted land.  And then I would be dead so no more problem.

And last time I read an article it was saying N. Korea could have up to 6 nuke and 7 if they refined more of their stuff.

edit: I do prefer my first plan, planting nuke at strategic place around the 3 border (not counting the China border) and detonate when needed.  Let say 2 nuke at the east, same at the west and south. And if they have another one you put it in the capitol and nuke it when it fall.

There would be no second launch before we invaded.

That is why I would win.  You don't put the nuke in the missile silo, that is too obvious. You make everyone believe so.

4 ways by my count.

By sea, through Russia, through China or through South Korea.

South Korea being the hardest. Through Russia or China not being an option on the table.

Historically, it was the marine landings that outmanouvred the NK, that's why America and her allies practise them there once a year.

Whichever way you intend to do it, Okinawa is the primary staging area for that region of the pacific. There is a fleet there now, an MEU ready to go. It's the regional logistics capital, any military build up will go through it.

Yea that is why my first idea to defend n. korea was nuking the coast.

That's why all their missile tests have been over Japan.

Pearl Harbour is in Hawaii?

Justification is an event. Sanctification is a process.
