Man i hope pvp dont turn out to be like what WoW considers PvP. A complete CC fest with whoever having the better CCs and better CD's just totally dominating, or OP healing abilites making it damn near impossible to kill certain classes. Which is what WoW considers PvP. PvP should be based on tactics, skill, and awareness which is lacking in that other game. Now im not asking for TOR to be a complete PvP game, just better PvP were players actually PvP instead of being chained CC'ed or chasing a healer around in circles trying to kill him till his help shows up
And pets hell no, all you get there is a player running from you while his pet do all the work, no i understand that you will have a companion npc, if it's usable in PvP to help kill other players, than all player abilites should be usable against it. Not that BS that blizz pull with player's abilites, were some work in PvE and not in PvP and thats only for certain classes. I dont want to play a class were i have a ton of abilities in PvE but only 2 or 3 that works in PvP.
Im really looking forward to this game because i like playing a game with a background story to it, but i also like to PvP from time to time, and PvP is no fun if you are chained snared the entire time or are getting beat on by a pet and your abilities dont work on the pet, but i have high hopes for Bioware and i think they will do a good job on both aspects of the game |

Hey im all for full looting of players after you kill them, as long as they have an actual fighting chance of defending themselves, and not just sit there CC'ed while i burn them down |

I understand your concerns about PvP and using WoW as an example where PvP fails in certain reguards.. I agree, however I do know why this happens and it's not just a Blizzard problem but a problem that all PvE focused games have when PvP is tossed in the mix.. The problem is PvE encounters are totally different then PvP encounters.. This is a typical programing flaw.. Mobs that have 100K hit points and more, depending on level, require alot more dps to take down.. When you program certain dps classes to shell out 2k - 5k dps, obviously it isnt' going to take much to kill a 20k health player.. This applies to healing classes as well... Sad part is.. this problem wasnt' as noticable at level 60 end game.. With each 10 level expansion jump the gap between PvE and PvP balance widens.. IMO.. what devs need to learn is a different way to program PvE encounters if you wish to have a PvP game as well.. Stop programming players with 5K dps killing a 500k hit point mob, then expect that same player to be balanced in PvP.. As for SWTOR, If they stay clear of the adding healing classes to the game, and having boss mob encounters, they may have a chance of a balanced PvP enviroment.. Still to early to tell |

They went for a pretty low number of classes,8 (four if you assume that the 4 on one side will be perfect mirrors of the 4 on the other side), and there might not be a healing class, which leads me to speculate that balancing in SW:ToR will be easier then in games like WAR or WoW. And balanced classes is fun pvp! http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=17779800832&sid=1&pageNo=1 The OP just doesn't get it! |

The healer class just doesn't fit here that much. SW: ToR should really be pretty much about skill & awareness. If you sleeping, you might get caught by a trooper's thermal detonator and well, thats pretty much it...

If the game has looting of players, I doubt most people will play it and they will be out of business in less than a year.
However, I seriously doubt Bioware would do something like that. They're too savvy for that. My website is closed temporarily. Hopefully it will only be a short delay. |

Based on past experience, if an mmo company talks about their games features and pvp is not initially discussed, as in TOR, then pvp will not be a major focus in the game. I hope Im wrong. Cheers! |

You got healing powers in KOTOR. Don't know if that translates into a class, but perhaps something you can train in. I would be surprised if there are zero healing abilities. |

Oh come on, SW:TOR is not going to push the edge in any aspect that might cause even the slightest conflict. They are going to make an extreemly well polished Star WoW with some great new ideas for storyline. They have already said several times they will be using WoW as a model. Bioware wants to make a massively successful MMO, they want to rival WoW, they want to be the best and bigest, they won't get that with FFA pvp and player looting. |

Speculation sucks. All I can say at this time is we can infer that PVP is a feature, not a focal point of the game.
Website is down so I cant do more looking |

It better have PvP. Thats the big point of star wars. Wars, fights and PvP against good and evil. I can tell you now if it doesn't have PvP it will flop like a mc donalds cheeseburger. |

Yes, it has PvP. To my disgust. But we have no details on exactly how it will be implemented. But considering how good this game company is, I seriously doubt they will do anything that will make people angry. They want story, not just bashing people to bash them. My website is closed temporarily. Hopefully it will only be a short delay. |

Yes, because when you add in PvP looting, the game instantly turns garbage, and the thousands of subscribers playing will leave in droves causing an extremely successful SRPG company owned by EA to go out of business. Makes perfect sense. |

Ya, I agree..
However, the only thing they have discussed at length, is story, I really don't believe any other features have been really brought up...
I hope you're wrong too ; ) |

With PvP looting, you typically find a game where gear isn't the most deciding factor of every encounter, which really makes me happy.. Also, why does it instantly turn to garbage? |

Previously I see you bashing EVE Online/sandbox games. Here you're bashing ToR. Now you bash WoW. What other variation of MMO can you possibly like now? You've bashed almost all the different molds of MMOs. Stop being so negetive about ToR. If you don't like it, don't play it when it's out. It's Star Wars. It always has been and will be about conflict, the battle of good vs. evil. If you don't like that, do what the previous poster said and go live in a small cottage having virtual tea parties if that's what you enjoy. |
