Can build up run or chocobo skill to go faster. Get your own airship.

First.... leave travel alone. If anything, I would be in favor of spreading it out over more jobs. A little interdependence is good to maintain the social environment. Regrettably, while we gain playability by having more content available to soloers, we're also giving up a lot of the forced interaction that caused FFXI's player-base to have so much quality. So there need to be some constraints on what remains, even if the constraints aren't tied to the fundamental drive of the game (character advancement). What I would change is to, as others have mentioned, have some kind of proprietary speed increase available to everyone (i.e., chocobos); this, however, should be gated to preserve a lot of the world's danger. Everybody should remember the Jeuno run. There's nothing quite like trekking through Passhow on a grossly underpowered character in hopes of finishing that infernal quest. Good times. Don't go giving every level three (or whatever the new equivalent will be) character a chocobo.
Secondly, as I already mentioned, there needs to be some kind of interdependency in jobs in the gameplay itself. While I agree no one should have to wait three hours for a WHM, bringing a WHM along as opposed to leaving him behind should be a no-brainer, as should be the case with any other job available. In FFXI I decided to level PLD as my main job because I reasoned that it was needed and no one else was going to do it (well, not enough anyway). I was good at it, and it held stature that I haven't seen replicated in any games without forced grouping. I don't want to see that go, but I know that in order to have a game friendly to casual players (as I have since become) that role has to decrease. Rather than see it collapse altogether, though (or worse, collapse for the vast majority of the leveling portion of the game only to resurface at the upper levels and shock the hell out of unprepared soloers, as happens in WOW when people discover one day that you can no longer get new stuff without nine other people and a competent tank), something--I don't know what exactly, but something--should be there to preserve relationships between jobs and, consequently, between the characters that fill them. [Mastif, live forever, wherever you are. You were the best Taru WHM a Galka PLD could have asked for, and just a spectacular guy all around; sorry I lost touch.]
Oh, yeah................. and PVP. Peace and safety. |

I think it would be good if you could upgrade chocobos to make them run faster etc... but I think if you had to look after them that would be a right pain in the ass and the novelty would soon wear off. |

Would be cool to be able to merit (whatever) your Choco to ludicrous speeds. Where you run by people an newb Choco's and they are like, "wtf was that??!?"

I want it to be a game where I can sit in a main city and talk to someone and enjoy, I just want a social game. I'm along in the real world and I just want to talk to people every once in awhile really. So yeah....social options, maybe housing and like guild housing. Or player owned stores, that are actually there. Or just to make it easy a mod-kit that allows us to creat content. I enjoy games that allow me to mod ^.^ --Custom Rig: Maker's Forge--- |

Well FF always has a ton of content so it would seem possible to have more open zones, or a more open world in general. To an extent i enjoy the linear aspects, but i do not love going down specific paths carved in slate tell you to go this way. So I would love to see a more open world approach rather than the, "You are cliffed in from both sides" feel. I can immagine the epicness of getting lost in valcrum dunes v.2, it's 10 times bigger, and has 10 times the bogie!

This guy pretty much says it all in this blog.
This is an example of what I DON'T want. Goddamned Dunes!
What I really want is more concrete info and images of the game. |

I can't wait for this game!! >_< It's gonna be Epic. I gotta say though most FFXI community will migrate to FFXIV 'cuz of it though, so yea. I'm pretty much done with FFXI though anyways. =/ But yea, other than that this game really has a lot of hype. The environment is gonna be huge as far as graphics go in this game will deliver that hype. xD |

I have a big lists of "All I want" but it's not that demanding. I want total character customization I want a massive collection of animated character emotes and sounds. I *don't* want to look like everyone else at whatever level bracket I'm in. I want more than just the 5 initial races I want male Mithras I want my character to be able to jump I want, as another poster said, that VERY RARE social experience that I've found lacking in EVERY SINGLE MMO I'VE PLAYED SINCE. I play WoW right now.. and we all know how THOSE PEOPLE are. I want more than just 1 or 2 jobs that can feasibly heal I want to still be able to solo at levels past 20 without having to be a (what was it) Beast Master? I want ALL jobs to be viable at ALL levels. (dead dragoon jobs and burned out thieves at 60 come to mind) I want a not-so-simplified style of combat I want more ways to make money than just farming or mindlessly crafting I want not ALL content to require a group although I loved group play in FFXI I want some form of PvP. Finally I want to feel like I'm playing a Final fantasy game. Not just the chocobos and the title but the actual FEEL story, minigames and all of that this time.

I like the character models as they are now. There a lot of combinations honestly. I have really only interacted a lot with one single clone of my toon. - Emotes are annoying now as is. I don't want to see a game where people can macro a different emote in with every activity. It could be fun for a while, but it would get very annoying. Tell me shit isn't annoying when someone macros: "/em Throws Pokeball. /s CARBUNCLE I CHOOSE YOU!!!!!!!". That is met with almost immediate /pimphand. Although the /train in WoW is awesome and a do spam that constantly. - I'll agree there especially realy on when everyone has on leather armor. It would be nice to see stuff look really dramatically differnet on each race or be able to have differnt colored gear. - Does it really matter? I mean FFXI is set up so you only need one character and the strengths and weakness of any race is easily overcome by the right gear. Race doesn't really matter other than what you can stand to look at for the next 6 years of your playing career. - ... seriously ... oh forget it ... just read this: www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/2923474#2923474 - Does that really eat at you that space doesn't equal jump? I have had people quit the game over that. By having your character grounded at all times you actually unlock a lot as far as little mazes and puzzles that you can do. - Having playing WoW off and on for maybe a total of 8-9 months over the past since it came out. FFXI is much better in the interaction with others. I never have felt a part of a guild even though I was in one in WoW. And then there are those times you get booted because you have real life hit you one weekend where the leader wants to RAID some zone you are 30 levels too low to even help with. Assholes ... it is like Asura x 4285. - WHM RDM SCH SMN DNC. I have seen parties where PLDs main heal. I have seen parties where PUP main heals. Neither of which were failures in the least bit - The idea of the game is based around Parties. You COULD solo on most jobs off very low EP, but I get what you are saying. Sometimes you just want to go at it alone for a little bit. It would be nice, but I wouldn't want to compromise the group aspect. Something like Public Quests in WAR would be amazing. - DRG is one of the better DD jobs imo. I took THF to 75 with realtive ease. The only thing I had a problem with was PUP and i did a lot of campaign for that exp. I know what you are saying with wanting all jobs to be viable, but that is a problem with the players and not the game. Certain players only want certain jobs or they won't play. I have foudn that some of the most broken parties (not the idea party build) are the most fun I have ever been in. Blame the ignorant assholes for this problem. - Not sure if you want some button mash ala WoW or you just don't want to stand there and have the game swing for you. I think the combat style is fine if we can get to the point again of skill chaining and magic busting. It kept the parties more livily and you hato be at the computer and be attentive to hit when you needed to. If something like that would become manditory in FFXIV we'd be a lot better off. - You can kill Qudavs til the cows come home. I can't see any other way of making money other than famring up crap to sale, farming up crap to craf tto sell, or farming up crap to complete quests. Any suggestions? Making it where you can do some easy odd job for money or buying properties and charging rent makes getting money too easy and thus devaluing the currency (which is what happened when the gil sellers ruled). When this happens the game becomes too easy and not fun ... and speaking of which I have not played Fable II in about a month, wonder how my shit is going. - Again ... that is how the game is designed. - PVP didn't make sense in FFXI becasue of the story (all though Sandy did ally with the Quadavs at one point to wipe out Windy ... but that is history >.>) the only warring between the factions were turned into sport ... that is the PVP you see in FFXI. Maybe in FFXIV there will be room to have something like that, but I doubt it. Plus I can't stand it when you are playing WoW, hit level 20 and take two steps into contested territory before getting raped by some super high level dickwad. |

I see several people asking for the same social aspects of FFXI but without forced grouping. It's *because* of the forced grouping that FFXI was the social oriented game that it was. If the content in FFXI was as easy to solo as WoW's is, you' d have the exact same community as WoW. People in FFXI had to be polite and considerate toward one another because otherwise they'd get blacklisted and potentially wind up an outcast. I remember this one guy on Kujata that tricked a JP out of a high level item and they actually conducted a protect in Jeuno against him. Eventually his reputation got so bad that he had no choice but to re-roll under an anonymous name so he could even get a group. It was priceless. MMO games would be pretty cool if it weren't for the people. |

There should be more solo Content. But make it things like Crafting, Solo Mobs that give no XP but have lots of gil and Crafting supplys. There are a Hundred MMO's to look at that gave great and Fun solo content W/O Ruining the One thing that made FFXI a Trully Great game. Its far more inportant that the classes be ballanced to a point that you can have more than one perfect party build. There should never be any LFWHM, Or 2 RDM, Cant do anything till we get them. I hated some Zones where Some jobs were pointless and that you could only do somethings in say 3 zones... Wtf? I rember the Dunes beeing so over camped it was almost pointless to play there but It was the only place that had people. If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. |

Korroloka tunnel was awesome for an alternative. Again, this is where I stress options. If Valkurm doesnt work then we need someplace else to go. Korroloka tunnel was awesome for leveling. Again, you would need 1 rdm and 1 blm to make it work.
