...they discovered the Power Shards? I have had this game pre-ordered since I could. I was stoked. Finally something new. I don't care if it's not 'innovative', I don't care if it's not 'next-gen'. I just want something new and polished... something I haven't seen in a long time. (Was at the release of AoC, and WAR.) And I am so sick of playing WoW as a waste of time. So naturally I was stoked for the beta. Super stoked. I logged in as soon as I could and was amazed at everything I saw up until I actually got into the game and found a few things that killed it all for me. Most notably: Power shards. WHY. Power shards are basically recycled Soul Shots from Lineage 2. WHY am I even seeing things similar from Lineage 2 in Aion? Are they not supposed to be completely different games? I understand - same company, etc - but c'mon. The only similarities between the two games I expected to see was the art style. Seriously, I know it sounds crazy, but this killed it all for me. I think soul shots in L2 were the most pointless feature of the game, and I know many will disagree with me, but why were they even there? You had to buy millions of them and have them on 100% of the time if you wanted to get anywhere. (Granted I haven't played lineage 2 in about a year, so things might have changed). It was just a giant money-sink that left new players at a huge disadvantage. It's funny. I could forgive them for making me install the GameGuard trash, but for some reason I can't overlook the Power Shard "feature" in Aion. Now maybe they won't be exactly the same as they were in Lineage 2 - I don't know. I only got to level 14. I really, really, REALLY hope it doesn't play out like SS from L2 did. This wasn't the only similiarities I saw between Lineage 2 and Aion. Again, why? ...and there were other things I didn't like (auto-movement, no mob-tagging, mob training, instancing...) Now I've cancelled my CE pre-order and wondering if I will even play it at release. Truely I am saddened. I had hopes. Perhaps the future beta events will make me change my mind, but I doubt they'll take out Power Shards, instancing, etc...
Sorry. I know many of you don't care about my opinion, and I'm happy for you if you're enjoying the game as I can see many people are. I just felt like I needed to say something. |

Ammo? We're talking about ammo? Not the game? Not the game? We're talking about ammo? Not the game that we go out there and die for and play every life like it's our last. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about ammo. I mean how silly is that, we're talking about ammo. I'm not shovin it aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I do, I honestly do. But we talkin about ammo, man, what're we talking about. Ammo? We're talking about ammo? We're talking about ammo? We're talking about ammo? We ain't talking about the game, we're talkin about ammo man. We're talking about ammo man, not even the game, the actual game that matters, we're talking about ammo.

Honestly I dont think anything is wrong with the Soul Shard thingys, It was put there to speed lvling along and make the combat more flashy. I dont know what its like in Aion but in L2 it played out nicely. I honestly liked the idea of it, it was an item where even if you were a noob you had a chance of becoming successful really quick. I started crafting them and made a fortune over night, I kinda wish Aion would of done the same but they actually just vendor sell them which is kinda lame in my opinion lol, but none the less easier..
I would think they added it to increase the player driven economy. But yea I'm shocked you would actually quit the game because of that 1 little thing lol, you dont even know if its a big difference in Aion really, and its so much easier to obtain then it was in L2 at lower lvls |

The shards barely add anything to your damage, unlike SS/SP which about doubles your damage. I use the shards only when I accidentally hit B. |

The auto moving...I dont think I've ever seen a game that doesnt have that. You mean auto run correct? lol and umm Mob Tagging, I'm not sure either but I saw that you can do it on players, and I'm sure even if they dont have it now they will have it in the near future. |

Please correct me if I am wrong. |

What I mean is, when I have click-to-move disabled, and I right click and enemy to go into combat mode, my character auto-runs up to the enemy. Also when casting a spell, if a player trys to quickly dodge out of my LOS behind me, my character auto-faces him instantly. Just personal taste, but I didn't like it. I could over-look this though, I think, once I got used to it. Maybe I'm just nitpicking. :\ |

ahh I see, yea I found that to be pretty lame, I kinda like how in other games u needa follow their movements if you wana cast the spell on them or something. I say that though because I wana be a melee char and find it unfair that my strafing aroud them comes to no good use all the time =P lol
But the game does feel pretty free in combat, you can still run around people and have fun like that, but yea its kinda on easy mode when it comes to casting if you ask me, even melee, but honestly aion is the best game out there right now in my opinion for this style of play, the other game i love playing is darkfall but giving aion a shot now because my girlfriend is up for playing it lol and plus it just looks super sexy, cant beat the graphics and performance.. sorry for kinda strafing off subject =P but yea i see what ur saying now and I agree it ='s lame but its ok |

Shards are good. It gives you an upper advantage with your attacks. I use them when I need a boost in a life or death situation. Past 25 I used them for pvp. -In memory of Laura "Taera" Genender. Passed away on Aug/13/08- |

This is good to know, at least! Thanks! I'll remember this for the next time. |

I've given up hope on ever playing a new MMORPG that isn't some cookie-cutter, twitch-based, button-mashing, grind-fest with a shiny new graphics engine. Atlantica Online was the last hope for me ever enjoying an MMOG. Too bad it's a pay-2-win Korean grinder with zero immersion and horribly balanced PvP. Back to playing FPS games I guess... |

In like an area such as Abyss, if i was looking for a fight yes. If I'm questing and fighting no. It's just the B button to turn on so my fingers are close to the trigger. -In memory of Laura "Taera" Genender. Passed away on Aug/13/08- |

i think my biggest dissapointment about this game, is the amount of WoW fanbois ranting on these forums about how much the game is a copy of other games. |

Wait you're talking about ammo? Not the game? LOL
Look if it's fun just play it, don't dissect it. |
