Kinda what I was thinking.

I thought SB's community was a bit "rough" around the edges... but I think DarkFall has them beat. 

Oh well... at least DarkFall is number one at something.

Yeah, made me wonder as well. What's up with that?  Total absence of moderation? Though I have to admit there is a certain sense of pleasure to receive from overly hurt victims of a healthy gank. Games like this are able to trigger strong emotions and that is a blessing as much as a curse.

Something I have never really understood about the mostly 'white' players of MMOS: Is racial abuse really that close, just below the surface, of peoples thoughts? Some one is allowed to post with a sig like that? What the hell kind of mickey mouse game is this? And what's with all the whining and name calling? It's full loot pvp. If you're in a fair fight you're doing it wrong. Everyone knows that. Is this game only full of emo nerds and neo-nazis?

I was actually referring to the in-game chat that was screen-captured and then posted in the SBG forum.  There were some links and quotes of posts from the official forums as well though.

 I must say, any game with GM's that present themselves in such a manner is a game not to be touched. I honestly would not have been able to tell the diffrence between the Gm and the kid had his name not said "GM". Thank you for posting this,  one more reason to completely disregard Darkfall as worthy of my time. Am I to old that I can remember honor in pvp, respecting people who kill you and are killed by you? What is with this generation of degenerates who completely lack in-game respect? It is truely mind boggling that kids are allowed to play games nowadays... they all seem to turn into THAT when online.

When are you going to learn, Darth, that just because a thought occurs to you doesn't mean its a "good point", nor worth posting? For example, this "retort" of yours completely fails at making anything resembling a valid point.

See... I'm responding to the behavior of at least some DF players as shown in a series of screenshots taken from within the game itself, and then on the official forums. I'm commenting on the behavior of those involved... not the game they're playing. Thus, whether or not I'm playing the game has absolutely zero relevance here, as all the information required to discuss this topic is contained right in this thread.

Further, the OP asked if that's unusual in DF. They were told that, no, it's pretty normal.

Based on this, I stated that I'm glad I stayed away from the game because of how some people playing it behave more poorly than I'd ever experienced even in Shadowbane. Like Shadowbane, I'd rather not associate with the type of people DF attracts if that's how some of them behave.

Leave it to you, though, to try to twist and shoe-horn it into somehow being about the game itself anyway in some irrelevant game of "gotcha".

As usual, Darth, your attempt at making a valid point or an effective rebuttal fails miserably.

P.S. Can't help but notice that in your effort to rebut anyone commenting on the screenshots, you say nothing to denounce the racist or derogatory comments of those involved. Yet, you're disturbed by people commenting negatively on it. I guess your rabid defense of DF extends to the abhorrent behavior of those playing it as well?

I'm referring to the posts in this thread, following the long list of screenshots. If you scroll past all the screenies, you'll see normal posts by people getting pretty carried away with their comments. Among the screenshots are some from a thread on the official forums with similarly ignorant/racist comments being made.

Lol, these guys are total amateur.  I spark people into a rage so much faster and harder than that when I pk them.  This is what I find amusing about Darkfail [among the thousands of other things of course], it was supposed to be all "hardcore" and whatnot, but the game seems to be filled with dweebs and morons.  As far as PKing goes this is a joke, all it is is ganking somebody, but a real PK sparks the person off causing actual changes in their personality and bringing them to a place inside their mind that they didn't want to go and might not have even known existed.  It's not this amateur kiddie crap which you would find in games like my little pony online.

BY FAR THE MOST DAMNING THING shown in that thread was the screenshot of the retard talking with one of the Darkfail GMs.  Holy shit, even in player servers I have never seen such unprofessional GMs.  It is like he is just another player in the game, lol.  How could you pay money for a game like that, with a lower standard of professionalism than most player servers?  Insane.

I don't think MMOs are particularly "white"; if any race is over-represented it would be Asians, but for the most part I think the demographics match pretty well to whatever geographical region the game is drawing users from, this is my experience.

The reason for the racism imo is mainly caused by people just trying to say the most objectionable things they can think of, so they say a lot of horrible sexual and racial things in these situations.  If they didn't actually consider the racism pretty horrible they wouldn't say it in most of these situations, because being horrible is usually the point. The exceptions, the genuine racists, generally take racial issues to seriously to use racial insults in this sort of "har har, look at the horrible thing i just said" way.
