you actually have to modify your camera et some other setting in options to make it so it plays like a standard mmo et not a wannabe fps all that info is on the forums maybe your first step would of been of pressing alt .

Yes the controls you log in with are pretty much crap.  It really only takes 2 or 3 minutes (longer if you never played) to go through the options and "fix" them.

Then again someone totally new.. I can understand it would be cryptic.  I mean honestly for me the options I use wouldn't be "clear" to someone that bought it new.  Yet I change the controls in 99% of MMO's I play...

I think a totally new player couuld easily outlast 15 minutes... my main roadblock with SWG is knowing what "was" and the fact I liked it better.

the first thing i did logging on this week was activate auto-fire on , i key mapped it the F key , trying the officer class this time around my only grip so far ingame is the lack of chat channel to meet people when your out there do the legacy quest line .

seem to me there more people interested in spamming their WTS , then recuit need blood to their guild

so far am level 23 i can wear armour but wish there was grouping abit more time will tell was looking forward to the new battlefields.

Funny how some simple changes like a new UI and changing the targetting system and movement speed so you can have smooth animations could make the world of difference and yet SOE continue to ignore the real issues of the game which puts people off.

6 years later ... which is decades in video game years ... this game is not a top notch MMO.  It is actually a shell of its former self.  However, the review you gave is 6 years too late to be relavant and holds no merit.

What mmo is these days , perfection is so rare in mmo's that all we can do is complain and still things dont change .

lastest bad games for were War , AOC and VG .

Only reason i rebooted SWG is the lack of good sci-fi games and waiting on bioware starwar game , after 4++ years of eve am kinda burned out .

Yes SWG is not what is used to be and is far from perfect but is has enought to keep me busy on land and space for many weeks .

I have learned to adapt in games and given the choice of quality mmo's these past few years i dont think we have much choice .

 You lost me when you said AoC was a bad game.  Been playing steady for awhile now, having fun and staying for awhile longer.

I've been talking to the Devs about a possible "Star Wars Galaxies Veteran" default keymap that would include a lot of the keymappings that you are all familiar with, you'd just go into Options > Keymap and select it and it would set up the keys largely as you remembered it.

I've been pushing for "Looking for group" chat channels for a while now, the only push back from Dev is the potential for abuse of the system from spammers etc, but these work fine in many MMORPGs.

If you want to find a group in the meantime, try this feature that I did manage to get them to implement: Player Search Tool

You can set up a filter for all combat players within about 10 levels of your own characters combat level, send them all a tell and ask if they want to group for Quests or COMPNOR missions.  I do that a lot while levelling and end up with groups of eight, which makes the whole experience a lot more fun, you get XP a lot faster and you make new friends in the process.

SWG is for a different kind of player. The kind that thinks about things like how, why, and what. Not the kind that want to sit down, start a game, and be lvl 100 in 15 mins. I realized this after my last comeback, I finally said ok. I am not going to log in and try to go for it, I am going to ask questions, read up, and really know the game again, then try playing it, and I was blown away by how much fun it is.

  First off that game came out in 2002, and if you have ever read anything about the game then you would know that it has been through alot of changes over the years which adds to the problems of its already old engine.  Want to play the real game go download the SWG Emulator and play the old SWG then come on here and talk about it.

When I logged in for the latest freebie time, I fumbled around for 5 minutes trying to fix that.  It's in Options, alright, but not in the User Interface section.  The off-the-shoulder checkbox is up in the Graphics section.

Actuallly, I'm pretty sure, before CU and NGE the game was the best on the market.
