How does the leveling speed in this game compare to other MMORPGs? Is it easy to hit 75 in this game?
Also, is the game very soloable compared to what it was at release? Can I solo all the way to the cap if I wish? |

It is one of the longest grinds in any MMO. Some of the people who have been playing since release have not reached level cap, and if they have they still havent seen all the content that the game has to over, some have though. It seems to take the average-hardcore player around a year or longer to hit cap the first time through the game. That being said its a great game, full of more depth on the market and is worth giving a shot if you are patient and enjoy group play, as it is still VERY group oriented. On the other hand, FFXIV will be out next year, might as well wait for that : ) |

Can I expect each level to only take a few hours? |

With a competent party; sure....if not though it can take days to get just a little XP, but with all the new solo options you can get a good amount of XP during those down times while not having a good party! |

I just restarted two evenings ago,and was only able to play a couple hours each night, I was able to play a bit today and I'm level 14. They've added some field manuals to the game since I played years ago, that help with leveling. It's kill X of this creature and Y of that creature for an XP bonus. And also if you use conquest points you can buy the emperor/empress band, which is a ring that has 7 charges and will give you a 50% exp bonus up to 1000 bonus exp or 3 hour duration, whichever comes first... But the ring has about 16 hour down time between uses. Obviously I'm still really low level, but it does seem a little less difficult to level now then it was say 4 years ago, but we'll see how the later levels go, as I recall 20-35 is tough and I never made it beyond that point my first go round. |

This poster must obviously be one of the WOW nerds that spends 24 hours a day 6 days a week playing video games and has no life. That is the only way to get to 75 in a few days (even if you pay someone else to do it, it takes more than a week).. Not to mention taht to get to 75 you must also level your subjob to 37. (Unless he's mistaken and has never played FFXI). "There are things that I believe that I shall never say but I shall never say those things that I do not believe." |

Nah, he's right in a way. The first time up though, it's going to take a while because of the different quests you need to do on the way up to 75. After that, it's pretty much cake. I got a job to 60 in couple of weeks with breaks here and there.

Yeah, I'm sorry but Khrymson doesn't know what hes talking about. I've heard getting to 75 in a month, but that was always because the person had their subjobs leveled, had already done the cap quests, and usually had another 75 to do the AF quests and get money for gear plus they already knew a lot of people so can get a competent party together. To get your FIRST 75, takes a bit. Not because the actual leveling takes awhile, but because doing the side stuff and just getting a good party can take awhile. |

The thing about ffxi, is that to get to level 75 you not only need to level up.. but at some points you need to do missions and quests that if you dont do them, you wont be able to move on... like rank missions, airship mission, Genkai missions, Killing maat. and many many more.. like job quests, sub job... and more lol. This take time and you need people to help ypu 90% of the time. So it takes time... Players that already done all of this can level up a job to 75 in a month or less |

This is the reason that my company neither offers leveling nor accounts for FFXI. Though 1 month would be acceptable if played 10-12 hours a day. Can you show me where I can get a leveling guide that is current, or provide me with more information on leveling? Spitt |

Just get in and play and explore the game and try things...when you die from something most horribly then you found an area too hard and shouldn't go back there for awhile...go in a new direction. If area A) is too hard and you can't proceed but area B) is possible to survive in; then which area do you think you should go to.....do you really need a guide to figure that out!? |

I don't think people have trouble with leveling when they ask for a guide. They just look for the fastest way to level. |

I'm gonna skip over what everyone else wrote ... Leveling speed is based on what you put into it. If you are on a long period of time and you are willing to make your own parties you will be able to get up to 75 very quickly. If you are on here and there and you are just waiting for something to happen you will not succeed very fast. It is a lot easier then it was back in the day when I started. They lowered EXP cap for each level after 50, added exp rings, and added events where you can get exp for paricipating. Before all that happened I got my first job to 75 in just under a year, but I was also into endgame at that point too so I was doing events and was an advocate of this odd philosophy called "logging out." In short I could have done it faster if i wanted, but instead I chose to enjoy the game and have some freaking fun. The game is more soloable than it was at release. You cannot make a career out of soloing outside of a handful of jobs. It is possible to solo all the way to 75, but it would be in stark contrast to your original question about the speed it takes to level. Solo is very very slow. The most efficent exp is in groups. |

You don't know what you are talking about as well. It is very and very possible to even do 75 in 3 days. If you didn't know or rather if you didn't play. You would never know the "crazy" Asura player leveling team. the first 75 bluemage appear 3 days after expansion release from what i heard. I even saw a dancer reach 75 within 4 day of wing of goddness release. (using /sea all dnc) Pretty crazy i tell you, why it is possible? Let me tell you, with powerleveler ability like me who have 2 account, in 1 day i have reach from 9 to almost 37 in less then 12 hour of gameplay. of course 1-9 is like 3 hour itself because its solo which is so slow. If you got powerleveler you can reach 75 pretty quick. Its roughly 2 hour per level if you play effectively from 50-75 ...little slow between 64-66 of course.
