Aion will be a financially successful video game under the MMORPG genre. WoW is currently the most successful just like Halo to FPS and Madden to sports games. All I can say is that Bllizard's finnaly got some competetion to keep an eye on, but it I don't think it'll ever reach WoW's success. I think that WoW's success will start to slow down in a year or two since some more viable options (other good mmorpgs) are coming out. I think that Blizzard was just lucky since just about every mmo that came out after WoW wasn't good enough.

WoW is more like... If the Coca-cola company changed the original and only coke every time they released a new flavour instead of releasing it as a different version. But I guess that is the problem with MMORPGs, they have to 'evolve'... sigh... a.k.a. get worse... 'fixing' the game (e.g. classes) so the aspect that they had before became easier with one button press instead of four is not evolution, its dumbing down. And of course everything else... If this is how MMORPG progression is then maybe I should skip the genre since Blizzard pretty much ruined it already.

Just kidding, I love Aion it is fun, but still this gen.

And it gets extremely boring for most people in time. never said they did do anything original, only compared them to coke in that one aspect/example I gave rather then in everything else. it is impossible for mmorpgs to be like anything else since they believe in endless progression and once that progression ends they believe in completely dying.
