i ve long thought less popular and older games might be wise to look at a different buisness model so i applaud the redent decision to make dungeons and dragons online free to play ( albeit with the option of vip access and microtransactions ) . i would think a number of other companys are looking to see how succesful this will be . so which mmo would you like to see go free to play ?

You forgot to put an option of "none". |

i basically assumed that people would be smart enough to realise that if you did nt want to see free to play mmos they would just not bother voting or commenting on such a thread .so putting an option up for none seamed a bit stupid . mind you i tend to have a bit of common sence i tend to forget some people are born without it . |

Well it is not uncommon for people to have a want to state that they care not for any of the offerd options. So it was not a unresonable request.
Me i'd like to see SWG go FtP if any. It is old enough to be on it's last leg anyhow. This have been a good conversation |

Way to read far to much into a simple comment and lash out with some assumptions. Maybe some people would like to just see the results of your poll without being counted as voting for a game, just for example. Maybe people are interested in your thread and free to play mmos, but don't find the narrow options of your poll suitable. Maybe they think converting subscription games to free2play will not work, because they need to be built from the ground up with that revenue model in mind. Those all seem like common sense options to me, but I like to keep an open mind about things.

Well as of this typing, 50 percent have said SWG should be free. And I agree whole-heartedly. SOE screwed up this game so bad and the player base has dropped. Plus, TOR is on its way, so why keep dragging out the slow inevitable death of the game? Why not let it just carry on to the world of F2P? F2P could sure use a decent game haha. |

CoH/V because I love that game, and played for 4+ years.....and ANY SOE controlled game(SWG, Vanguard, Pirates of the Burning Sea, et al)....they should go back to concentrating on stereo equipment and not fracking up decent games. I think DAOC would be a solid game that a lot of players would return to, if they didnt have to pay for a sub
The quesion is, what would you 'buy' in DAOC |

To be honest I think none of the old p2p games should go f2p with microtransactions, but i do however think they could all benifit from reduced monthly fee maybe in the 5-10 dollar a month range. |

Vanguard! Tabula Rasa (if it still existed) City of heroes (although I would still subscribe to it anyway) Age of conan! Ok its not old but thats the only way I would ever play it again.

If you're going to stick it out there, don't be afraid if you get it cut off. |

I think eve would be a good game to go ftp for a few reasons. Iv never seen a time card or a single copy of the game any where ever...making it a credit card game only, plus jumpgate evolution is coming out soon and will take eves spot in the fantasy space genre.

i always did like the look of city of heroes i played it for a month when i brought the game and have always gone back to thier welcome back weels . i ve a cheap t3 month time card i brought on ebay so i m planning to use that sometime soon . i think city of heroes player generated content seams interesting . vanguard could be fun i had such a bad experiance with it in the first months that the only way i would play it now is if it were freee tabula rasa seamed fun shame it did nt try the free to play thing before they cloased it down . i m playing age of conan at the moment again on cheap time card via ebay . its a lot of fun and definatly something i ll return to for years to come . i think its successful enough at present for it to maintain and justify a monthly sub so i doubt if we ll see it going free to play anytime soon . i dont know how warhammer is doing . when i last played it seamed like it was really struggling so maybe that could be a potental free to play game at some point . after all its really based around the battle grounds mostly so its little more than team fortess with a side helping of mmo . |

I think that with DF bleeding subs, a F2P set-up might save them financially, at least for a while. |

Eve is one of the most well developed MMOs on the market, and one of the few that has had continious growth throughout the history of its lifetime. On top of that, its game world is a single universe... which means ~50k plus people are playing in the same cluster. That's no small technological feat, and you wouldn't want to flood that cluster w/ more people than the hardware could handle without generating income to provide for more capacity. The reason a game company transitions to a F2P is because the community is nonexistant, the economy is stagnant, and the gameplay can't stand up to other P2P games. Eve has probably the deepest gameplay on the market, hands down the best player driven economy, and has the largest single server population in the industry. It's probably very last on the list of game's to go F2P... even more-so than WoW because of its server structure and the way character advancement is handled. Jumpgate evolution is an entirely different type of game. And I'm willing to bet it won't even put a dent in Eve's numbers... because, to be honest, it seems really shallow. Don't get me wrong, I hope its a great little space fighter game thats fun to play... but it doesn't even dream to touch the depths of Eve's gameplay. Anyway I have to vote for Vanguard. It's actually turned into a pretty good game since its horrendous launch, and if given the proper infusion of players it could be a pretty decent contender again. SoE is run by a bunch of retards though and won't provide it with the funding it needs for further development/advertising... its kinda pathetic honestly. |
