NWNO? lol.. the game and the original NWN have nothing in common save the name itself since Bioware will not be working on it. |

Cryptic does one mediocre MMO(which they ran into the ground) and now they think they can do 3 MMOs at once? Seems like the Star Trek Online license wasnt the only thing Cryptic got from Perpetual Entertainment. |

If it harkens back to the "gold box" NWN on AOL then I'll take it.
Interesting, though, isn't Neverwinter in the Forgotten Realms universe? _____________________________ |

I had a feeling this would happen, although I thought it would be a Baldur's Gate/ Forgotten realms MMO,but close. Cryptic seems really solid with Champions and Star Trek Online, and buying them seems to be one of the best moves Atari has made in a while. Cryptic can develop an MMO at a VERY fast pace with the "Cryptic Engine" , and early beta news from players and Media outlets are very positive. Time will tell if Cryptic is indeed the saving grace for Atari.
On a side note, although Atari isn't spewing cash atm they are however "paying the bills on time " so to speak and are not out of cash nor about to implode , and are fairing alot better than alot of other developers. Atari's MMO division(Cryptic) could bring in a constant flow of cash that would be a huge plus for them. |

Dammit, for the first time in my life there was only one MMO that I was looking forward to so much that I decided to stop following every other MMO in development. That game is FFXIV. Now I have two to compete : ( |

Amazing, I have been asking for a NWN MMO for a long time and now I ain't the least bit happy. NWN2 was made by Atari/Obsidan and it stunk. While a FR MMO is nice I wish someone else than Cryptic did it, Why oh why, Bioware? Selling out your best game like that. But I guess it could have been worse, some cheesy F2P company could make the game instead. Lets at least hope Cryptic rent in some competent people and give us quests in the spirit of the original game and not like the one from CoX that are repetive and boring. NWN had very nice quests and a really good storyline. |

Completely agreed. While an NWN game would be amazing, the simple fact that Bioware is not making it but rather Cryptic is, doesn't sit well with me. I guess Cryptic did OK with CoH/CoV but I'm just not sure that they can pull off a proper NWN MMO.

I'm not a big NWN fan to begin with although I did enjoy the series, but even I feel strange that Cryptic is set to take on yet another project without successfully launching either of the 2 they are currently working on. Cryptic is a good development team, I've been following champions closely lately and they are very active in the community. They've added a number of features requested by the community and CoH was terrific at launch and yes, it was run into the ground, but it had its moments. Something we might be seeing in a lot of Cryptic games however, is their exceptional ability to MMO-ize their project at the expense of the game/IP originality. I've been saying CO will be a great game, but the Champions PnP it is not, so I don't think we will see the NWN we remember either. Thats not to say it won't be a good game though... |

Seeing the funds and sheer manpower that is needed to create a good, decent MMO. Having 3 MMO's in development at the same time is a classic recipe for DISSASTER! Cheers |

This is great news......it can't possibly be made as bad as DDO....Seriously I can't imagine ANYTHING that pissed me off morein the last 10 years as seeing DDO for the first time and practically throwing up. anything they make will make me happy in liu of DDO....they could crap in a box with a 20 year old copy of Loom on 5 1/4 floppies and I would be happier than with that f****ng game. |

Good grief, now they are making THREE MMOs at the same time? Sheesh, why not 10 or 20, while they are at it? o.0

I wouldn't be so sure that it couldn't be as bad as DDO. Personally, the only thing that I know Cryptic for is building highly instanced, highly generic repetitive tasks in a limited number of environments. The only good thing that I've seen come from them is, of course, their character customization. CoH may as well have been built by industrialized robots for all of the uniqueness and variety that its locations / "quests" had. Their quick development (dare I say "construction"?) schedule (on each of their multiple MMOs that they're pumping out, no less) merely reinforces this in my mind. I really wanted a Forgotten Realms MMO setting as did many others, but this just bloody figures. See, ^ this is why I didn't make any comments in the first post. I'm not at all pleased. oh hai this is not a sig |
