You enter the war room, marketing is there, customer service, managment from all departments. You go over the numbers, 10% hit, omg 50 million gone.... 20% hit 100 million gone.... its decided, time for the TROLLS.

They crawl out from under the bridge and decend with unforgiving fury upon the potential competition...

If you don't think this is the way business works, you are in the dark. Business is total cut throat. !0% hit is serious business. 20, 30 and 40% is devastating.

The companies don't have to do it any more since a minority of players are so blinded that they think they are on a crusade.

Aion fans are as much to blame for this. It's clear when you see threads "Aion vs WoW" pop up every other day.

This thread is rather pointless. I'd suggest you go get a business up and running before you speculate on how they work.

Exactly, and I  see that the OP's already been reported, so hopefully the thread will be deleted or locked by a Mod.

This post is valuable, I find it highly unlikely you will get your deletion wish. It will point out that the potential for misinformation within these forums is quite high. I suggest for those people curious about AION to pretty much ignore some of the rubish posted within this forum and do some research for yourself. View some videos on youtube, view other forums and when its here play the open beta to get a real feel for this game.

As far as business practices, its pretty much a ffa and quite cutthroat. Slant drilling, hostile take overs, price wars, patent infringement, law suits, etc.

As far as Blizzard trolls, there are many people who would freely troll for this organization even if Blizzard is not supporting it.

did you really list price wars?  sorry, gaming simply doesn't see price wars.  any AAA title will cost you $50-$60. (when they are new) and they all charge the same based on when they came out.  they started under $10, then went to 12, now 15.  I don't see Aion undercutting blizz by a few bucks to get more subs, no one does.

Aion will sell for $50 because thats what people expect to pay.  so will Lineage3, and blizz's new MMO when they come out.

Blizzard doesn't fund trolls because they don't need to.  you don't need to pay a fanboi to trash other games, and them saying that stuff really makes no difference.

Please, Blizzard are way too much interested to keep their reputation to troll forums of other games. Wow players and fans are of course another thing but as far as I know, no major game company have ever got caught doing this and there is no evidence of it.

We seen the same accusations in many forums of other games, but without any proofs whatsoever this is just trolling in itself. So, give us something that even hints that this is the point.

Besides, fans of games are usually a lot more rabid than the people making them, Tasos and Barnett excluded.

lol, I'm surprised you didn't say there is no slant drilling in games. Since you have so much trouble determining the meaing of the business section of my post i'll simplifiy it for you. Business, was a general term I used for all business models, you seem to think I said Gaming business. If I had of said Gaming business then I would look like a fool because we all know slant drilling really has nothing to do with gaming. lol.

I suggest you pay closer attention to what you are reading and not make invalid assumptions.

All the game are normally priced around the same, but compared to others I think AION will be worth it.

if Michael Morhaime has shown the industry anything in the last 15 years, hes shown his tenacity.  Mind you, im not in love with the dude either.  Hell, you could call me disgruntled.  But that said, if hes shown anything, hes shown he runs a company that pays attention to its customers.  He's shown his company has listened carefully to the marketplace and whipped his development teams into making the right product and releasing it at the right time.  most importantly, hes shown no matter how much success blizzard gets, its never enough for mike.  that mans insatiable.

look at that list.  did ANY of those games just flat out suck so bad that nobody bought them?  Blizzard has earned every penny theyve made thus far and GG for them on that.

Listen, im glad you found a game you like.  You should focus on that an getting your friends to play it with you.  

If you think you have to tear another game down to convince your friends to play it with you, then the game you like sucks in the first place and more imporatntly, you know it.

Well i think the OP has a real point.  I can tell you as along time MMO player WoW has become so main stream enough for the "normal population". The shear amount of people that play the game mean the game population is gona include a few crazy people. When you hear of funerals being done for real life people you know things have changed. Thats said the poplation includes a fair amount of people that feel personaly attached to the game. The reasons could be they feel thier ultimate toon on WOW would all of the sudden not be as impresive to his fellow guildies playing on the "next game", or perhaps  a old beta tester  stories of the old days would fall of deaf ears.  There are going to be trolls from wow.  Aion will steal players from all games not just WOW.  \We cant assume all the trolls will  be from wow.  So its not blizzards trolls. SO burn the trolls case by case. I also have to say the WOW fans should really stop thinking wow is the perfect game that all mmos should be judged next to it.  If you enjoy playing a game that even dumb children can excel at you may want to try a more involved game before crying about how a game will fail because its NOT WoW.

You are absolutely right regarding reputation. Would the United States admit to spying, social disruption and sabotage in Iran? However we all know there are covert operations being conducted in Iran by the United States.

It is not beyond the realm of possibility that some Blizzard employees would pounce on a competitive game, I know I defend my company to the limit because i am loyal. However I do believe the vast majority if not all the misinformation in the AION forums is being posted by WoW fanatics.

Blizzard are too busy getting the startcraft 2 beta ready.. or atleast they better be ... /shakes fist

Well obviously you cannot comprehend the post. I will try and simplify it for you, ok?

lets say WoW has 10 million subs and they make 500 million profit per year from these 10 million subscriptions.

Now lets say AION takes a very modest 1 million subscriptions from WoW upon release, that is 10%

10% of 500 million dollars is 50 million dollars. You call that funny? I bet you dont work in accounting.

you shouldn't bring up the graphics engine, cryengine is one of the best in the business. Why reinvent the wheel? The fact they modified the engine for this game is bonus. The WoW engine does not even come close even with all the updates they have done, its remains a cartoon. It started as a lag fest and it remains a lag fest. So i guess this is my time to laugh at you. really funny.

Zeblade is a clasic example of misinformation everyone, i am sure I am not the only one laughing at his "old graphics engine post"
