A few more things.... (after playing FFXI today)
Status Effect on Enemy- I'd like to see the status effect icon on/above my targets lifebar to see when the effect wears off. I don't want to have to watch the combat dialogue to figure it out! Auction House- I don't like seeing the entire list of everything that has EVER been auctioned, let's have a couple of new menus, current items up for auction, history of items auctioned including last sale price, and your items that are up for auction. Stackable items- Why is 12 the maximum number? Let's increase that to at least 25.

Thinks to keep: -Job system -Party requirement to lvl (not as hardcore as FFXI) -Keep it Difficulty -LvL sync -The way the cities are built. The attachment I had with my home city. I hope they bring that back -Mog Houses -Keep the servers region mixed -Unlocking Jobs after a certain lvl/quest -rare/ex items -Ranks -Airships -HNMs -Loss of EXP when dying -Chocobos
Changes: -A little bit of solo content would be nice (more so than FFXIs) -I liked FFXI's AH, but kind of want it to go similar to WoWs -Leveling up. Some sort of skill tree would be nice to add variety to the jobs. Would be an awesome way to replace SJs.
-An open would where load screens are a minimum. -PVP. I dont even need open world pvp/ganking. Just something more smoother and easy to get into.
-Crafting. -LS. I liked the old one, but add a little more to the rank system. And add online/offline status (within LS, not game).
-More character customization

Kept: - Missions (Storyline CoP rules, the same way) - Level and Party System. - Auction House - Crafting - Notorious monsters - Events - Difficult
Changed: - Customizable Character (give us more and more) - Skillchain, i like now, but could be good to improve. - Give maps a lot more of explorationg (some places where terrains changes cause of strange phenomena) - Tetra Master implemented in game We Are Blind .. To The Worlds Within Us .. Waiting To Be Born |

I never played FFXI so maybe I dont fully understand, but I think that the ability to change jobs anytime could also be a bad thing. I would not like it if any group I joined could tell me "we have enough of your class - change to healer plz". I tend to choose the class I like and play it till I get good at it. Alts are not really my style. Pressured to play an alternate class would be a big bummer for me. |

I thought I would add that I think NMs should make a return. They were a lot of fun and my Bro and I bonded a lot hunting them. People hate on them but you can't make everyone happy! Maybe if they made the NMs instance based that would make them easier on casual players. That way you don't have to camp one for hours on end, hoping for a claim! |

I'd like to have items be exculsive so you don't have person X camping nonstop and just reselling, but I'd like so be able to buy them for when I have enough money and I give up on camping. I'd like like to see the drop rates increase by a lot, but I don't want to see the market become flooded with things that peoepl eventually don't ever want. It is a hard balancing act and glad i'm not making the decision. |

I hope the AH stays similar....I can't stand current auctions inother MMOs when people list stuff with no BO...its like damnit I want it now, and you'll more then likely get way more for it with a BO instead of auctioned. Sometimes I don't mind paying way over priced for an item if I want it that bad, and in FFXI you can do just that at anytime with anything!
Also if it hasn't been mentioned yet, keep armor scarce and somewhat hard to come by and eventually make it all player made further along in the game. As well as don't add in the stupid BoE, BoA bullshit....allow us to resell our gear to others or use it on another job...or heck even an alt if you is inclined to play a 2nd character, etc! The only gear that should have any kind of binding is Race/Job specific and super rare items that very few players will have! |

I've played FFXI since 2004, and I have hardly ever fought regular nms (I fight HNM's now cause my LS does, but I don't really camp them). NM's are on a timer to limit the amount of drops it will produce and let into the world. Killing an nm, is supposed to net some nice/rare armor. Sure, some of the lower level NM's this isn't the case, but some of the higher ones it is. I don't have an emp pin, or lizzie boots, etc, cause I am a lazy faggot who doesn't care. I believe the ppl who camped them deserve to be the few that have them (or the few that made some good gilz selling them). I did, however have to camp that ying yang robe NM....that was a pain in the ass, with all that competition. But, I love my YYR, and it was worth the 25+ days it took me to get it. |

I think the drops should make hunting them worthwhile and the stats should be suitable to the effort required to acquire it. They should def. be rare/ex (no need to wonder if RMT will bot/monopolize the NMs to control the market on the items; we already learned that from FFXI). However, in response to those who might say "yeah but that's not fair, I dont' want to, or don't have the time to spend camping those for that item"... Well... then perhaps you weren't meant to get it? |

PC Friendly UI - Scrap that horrible UI. Make movement more precise - was sluggish and unresponsive in XI More unique looking armor - everyone looked identical in XI. An actual auction house - the bazaar was TERRIBLE. Job flexibility - No way the summoner should have been treated the way it was. Why couldn't I be a black mage/summoner and be accepted? I didn't want to play a white mage. Prevent releveling through the same drab zones Better zone design - they looked nice but make them look fantastic Make the game exciting More diversity in monsters progression through solo play for all classes, but group play still the primary target Minigames! ala in game tetra master larger inventory equipment that stands out more stat wise I would like to see a monthly evolving story |

A better AH yes, but the bazaar system is actually a good system. I hope they keep both aspects again. On the minigame front, I wish they would've made Chocobo Racing in FFXI, more of an actual racing experience. That would've been awesome if they would've made that a competitive racing simulation with head to head vs players. I don't know how long you played FFXI, but, everyone doesn't quite look the same the higer you get. Sure, armor variety is nice, but it's not the end all be all. The more time they spend in desiging armor, the less time they spend in other areas, so, be careful what you ask for. Same drab zones...lol. With 20 jobs, you can't make a different zone for every level tier, for every distinct zone, in a detailed 3D setting. That would take an exceptional amount of time, and resources. You ask alot. And finally, the stat boosts, while small in ffxi, is much better than huge chunks. Don't need the game to turn into an arms race, or that the equipment makes the player, not the skill. Plus, with smaller stat boosts, endgame can still be more balanced, than, say in WoW.

Like the max HP one can have if I recall if just under 3k and only if you're a Galka...ummm Monk is it!? When you get to the crazy #s like WoW has; recently landing near 30k for some classes...that's just insane! |

Totally agree. Plus, 400-1k agility, is purely insane as well. Those high numbers would force the endgame to be segreated by the gear the character has. He already complained about being segreated by subjob, now he is asking to be segreated by gear as well. Can't understand that, |

- All I need kept is the ability to have one character be all my classes - 1 rep grind is beyond words in time savings. No alts, just mules = pure win. Anything else (for me at least) can change or be tweaked as need be. Beyond anything I want it to be more player-friendly & unique, and to keep me playing for years & years...My faith in Square is endless :) |

ya'll pretty much hit most of the good points to change and dont change. I just hope they dont over hype it, and just expose it, as from my personal expierance anygame that was overly hyped was either a let down OR not a bad game but not what it was hyped to be. I very much enjoyed my time in FF11, the only reason I left was because of the population drop, for me its nice to see areas alive/active in game, and when you log on and theres like no one around, tends to take away FOR ME at least. Cant wait for FF14. |

Now, the server sports around 2k ppl 24/7. Sure, half the ppl are gone, but there are still plenty of ppl around. The lower level zones aren't packed (same with other mmos). But, some of them are because they still are vital camp sites. It's nice that it's not overcamped these days. |

WoW SE is seriously stupid in the head, they ruined FFXI by introducing solo into a PARTY based grind game...that completely %^$^$^$%#$ up the ENTIRE leveling point..
now if they get rid of solo in XIV, it'll be like FFXI before it was ruined, but a bunch of WoW Q.Q nubs will be crying their eyes out and slitting their wrists b/c you cant solo in a party game.
keep: almost everything add in: maybe some quests for minor exp/gil? trash: Fields of Valor or at least take away the exp bonus from solo |
