Pretty much what I think happened: Gamegaurd created an I/O mapping controller in my Network properties, it's very onw TCP/IPv6 protocol, which is unexceptable, a programming creating newtork breeches , This inreturn created a ghost route,on my networked router , which again, wide open hole to my machine, because my machine was pretty much malicously taken over by Gameguard, on my router table my computer was now nake "insert korean lettering here" . Upon this discover I took immediate actions to alert other players of the CB, and immediatly wiped Aion and Gameguard off my pc, and reset my router table as well as renaming the routers password. Game gaurd is simply unexecceptable for NA player, we do not play in Cafe's, we play at our homes or colleges, and for a program/application to create a security threat for potential account stealers to exploit is simple poor sdevelopment in my opinion. |

There is always the possibility that somebody "guessed" your wireless network password and had access to your network for a while (or at least until you checked for whatever reason). Maybe the password was easy to guess or maybe they got it via brute force. If the problem disappeared after you changed your password, I'm inclined to believe that somebody has indeed gained access from the outside. |

NCSoft Launcher has been on my computer since it debued during City of Heroes. I've had 0 problems with the launcher and so that leaves one possible culprit, being Aion itself which I recently downloaded and installed on my machine. I'll let you know if I have any similar issues with my beta weekend over the next few days. So ya, I guess its safe to say I'll be playing Aion and you won't, sorry. |

From NC Support:
Hello John, (shhh... don't tell anyone, my name is John) Thanks for sending that in. From reviewing the forum thread it's impossible to determine what caused the issue. As far as NCSoft software goes, Aion, Game Guard, and the NCsoft Launcher do not act in the manners that are hypothesized on the thread. Aion connects in the exact same manner as Exteel and Lineage 2 and nothing of this nature has ever been reported to us. My best suggestion would be for that person to contact us directly in the future if he feels there is an issue with the game, not that there is any link between the game and his possible security issue in this case. Also, he should consider a solid security suite, although nothing actually malicious was being reported in the post. Most of the other posters seem to be on the right track in their advice. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, |

So I decided to test this out to see. 1. Aion not running: No extra network protocols listed under my LAN connection. No extra connected devices listed under my router. 2. Aion running: Same thing as above. Looks like this is an issue with your personal network, OP. If it was a problem with Aion/NCSoft launcher I should be having exactly the same experience. Sorry, looks like you have a might bigger issue to worry about. "There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer." |

Ive recently played GW, Lineage 2 and Exteel as well, and had no issues, it was specific to Aion.Lets us hope my problem was just that mine, and everyone can enjoy the game :). As far as game gaurd goes, I will never use it again. |

IF you see Korean letter, it has been duplicated. |

First off I'll use an example... "my outside" computers are on a wireless network that has a security passphrase. I have never had anything show up other than my computers.
On top of the passphrase my router requires a "login" from my side. Where I use a unique login id (not the default) and password (not the default). So even if something installs software ON my computer... if I don't login to my router its not getting into my router.
If you have something showing up in your router as being connected through the lan (as an actual computer)... the only option is to have a wireless router and someone else is using it.
I honestly can't say that in all the years I've been online i have ever seen a virtual device created by software assigned its own IP address and show up on my lan as another computer.
Why would you do this? If you want access to a network and have compromised a machine to that degree... with rootkits etc you can have full access to everything without doing something this obvious.
If you left your router at default factory login/pass then ... no it probably wouldn't be that hard for someone to have some code that would alter DMZ settings.. or port forwarding in other to do whatever they want.
If this was an issue showing up on many computers.. then I would not be harsh towards the OP...
But what is being described.... well I don't see any way to connect it to NCSoft... you are also describing something that depending on locations (source/destination) would be a federal crime (I actually have some personal experience with that)...
and there lies the problem...
So what I see are options:
1) OP is a troll that made an allegation of criminal activity against a company.
2) OP visted some bad site(s) and now has a problem... doesn't want to admit to certain behaviour and makes a criminal accusation against a company.
Gameguard or w/e crap a company installs is one thing.. what was being described in the OP is something else. Or perhaps they just worded it poorly /shrug

Before this continues, sol you need to fully understand what I/O mapping is. Here some links provided: You may also want to look up how GG works although it's kind of irrelevant here. Nothing is wrong with Aion and it's not doing anything to your system or you. If you think your network is getting taxed while playing, someone is dailing into your network. I honestly believe you have a wireless router, but it really doesn't matter. You seem to not know to much about computers or networking and have some alterior motive with Aion and these threads. It's clearly obvious when looking at some of your more recent threads. You need to either just play Aion and enjoy it, or move on. Your not doing anything but wasting your time starting these threads when you could be doing something more productive. Take care and remember, it's just gaming. |

Also love how the game is never the issue to people who work for the developer :) |

Sure, I can do that for you, Solareus. Just to put your mind at ease that it's not Aion, or to worry you more perhaps that it is not Aion. I guarantee you though that it is not Aion. "There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer." |

All the things he's descibed as seeing in the Network properties are Microsoft components (I/O Mapper, IPv6, etc.). The I/O Mapper in particular is the piece that lets you see the pretty network diagram instead "yup, there's a cable plugged in" indicater. All are installed as DEFAULT by Vista/Windows 7 http://tweakhound.com/vista/tweakguide/page_9.htm (about halfway down they talk about network properties) As to the extra IP in his router, I'm guessing the people asking if it's a wireless router are on the right track. IF YOU BUY A WIRELESS ROUTER AND DON'T DO ANYTHING WITH THE WIRELESS SETTINGS ANYBODY CAN CONNECT TO IT. If you're not using wireless, log into your router and turn it off, you'll save yourself a lot of potential headache. |

1. Everything is wired 2. I've studied the ip/tcp stacks , since using Vista and networking my computers and printers 3. No one here speaks or even writes in Korean. 4. This all happened when playing Aion I can only guess , that it is a game guard issue. If you feel secure, have fun playing :D

This whole thread sure smell like a hoax by the OP to me. If nothing else the OP should thank all the people who wasted their time dealing with this non-existent fabricated problem. It's a bit hard to believe anything else, when the OP is feeding the Aion forums with trollish topics. And OP, as easy it is for you to accuse others for being into the the NCsoft payroll, it's similarly easy to be accused as a Turbine shill yourself. |
