99% of the reviews I've read here are trash.     By that I mean, these testers have not played the game to a point to even formulate an opinion that is worthy of a person drawing any conclusion at all.      My opinion of AION has changed dramatically as I have progressed, now only level 9 Scout, and loving it.    At level 4, I was hardly loving it.

So to those not in beta that are looking for some insight in to this game, take most of these negative reviews with a huge grain of salt.    They are mostly provided by kids with an attention span of  zero.

With 60-days remaining until release, I am sure there will be more in-depth reviews for you to read, and above all, I suggest you pre-order the game and get access to a beta key so you can try it for yourself prior to launch.    You can always cancel the order if dissapointed, but whatever you do, don't feed these trolls.

Good job posting AoC images because those are not Aion.  Props on the derailing.

Anyways OP 100% agree but I played on the Chinese version, still debating if i'll get Aion when it hits the US because im low on money.

But if i had more time and money I would have already pre-ordered the game.

First, you are implying that negative reviews are inaccurate and thus implying that good review are true.  Stupid.

Second, this game doesn't requrement much mental attention.  Well, for me at least.  I guess you are struggling with it.

Third, the game looks fine.  The graphical style of the mobs isn't appealing to me.

Finally, the weekend certainly is well populated!

I would have an opinion on the Aion beta weekend if I hadn't been forced into pre-ordering online and not getting any email containing a code. All the local stores "DIN'T GET THEM  THANGS IN, SORRY".

So, no beta weekend for me :<

There is at least 4 games in that batch of screenshots. AoC, LOTRO, VG and WAR

But fear not, I'm sure you won't lose too many players. Then again who knows.

As for Vanguard, the scnery is nice, but the avatars look and move like crap. While in AION the scenery is nice and the avatars actually look and move great.

You know I don't think that too many Vanguard players would quit for Aion, at least none of the ones that I know anyway.

Nope, I am with the OP on this one.

Negative reviews are as good and interesting as the positive reviews. The thing is, 50% of the opinions are just over exaggerated  nonsense.

But this has been the same with every new mmo launch, nothing really surprising here.

I'm not implying.   I am stating a fact that 99% of the negative reviews on this board  soon after beta began, are from people that never even made it to level 10, let alone 5.    The Internet gaming community is infested with kids that have zero attention span, and that is the source of 99% of these reviews.

Positive, or negative, a review should be made from one who at lest plays the game to a reasonable point in time to formuate an opinion worth sharing, say 10, 15, or level 20; should also include that persons computer specs., so we have some context, in addition to MMO"s that person actually prefers, and why, to allow us insight in to an pre-concluded conclusions vs. an open minded one.

This guy's complaining about the graphics? LoL.

He probably doesn't realise that it's the BEST graphics/performance ratio out there at the moment. You can have huge numbers on the screen without a hitch while having everything cranked up. You can play the game on very old PCs, and it still looks very good.

I guess Mr. solareus prefers having AoC graphics and limiting numbers to 48vs48, but setting everything to low until it frankly, looks like !@#$.

Or maybe NCsoft had to take a leaf out of Mythic's book, we all know the endgame sieges in WAR are brilliant performance wise. /sarcasm.

Fact is, the landscapes look good enough, character models look amazing with the best character creation system IMO, and the game handles numbers on the screen extremely well.

Ah well, It's not like I'm going to convince a troll anyway.

A game released in 2013 will take that title again.

And solareus, stop acting like if your opinion wasn't formed before playing the game, if it's true that you've played it.

That's not at all what he's saying have you read some these 'reviews'? They're troll fests. Some are not.

No need to get angry, I don't follow APB either, but I did see the thread on it here and here's the character creation video if you'd like to see it - www.gametrailers.com/user-movie/insane-apb-character-customization/319854

Aion also 'is not out yet' according to many posters depending on what point is trying to be made, I read conflicting 'it's released China / Korea' and 'it's still in beta'. Quite convenient really.

Oh well I may just pick up a beta key and just see for myself. The best review is your own review.

If he have a good computer then graphics/performance doesn't really matter to him, does it?

I have not been in the trial at all and have no opinion about Aion yet, but I sure don't care how any game looks on low, not my problem. If it looks great on max then great, otherwise not great.

Of course if you play it on old crap then it do matters to you but we don't know the other guys hardware.

I played some AoC and it runs excellent on my computer and so does Vanguard for that matter.

Still, it will be interesting to try out Aion for myself, but I can't care less how a game runs on your computer.

Ok solareus, we can talk. No problem.

The thing is, what you are posting confirms the point the OP is making, 100%. Because, even if you don't like the game, the game play, the graphics, etc.... what you are saying just isn't possible if you have played the game.

Fair view, and I agree.

As for Aion, if you had played it you would see that it is the most polished game since Lotro came out 2 years ago. Quality is everywhere.

Show me 1 game that doesn't have RMT. According to the BBC 2 years ago RMT already was a 500 million $ business.

And you see it more in pvp games due to their competitive nature; people want to get an edge and they will do everything for this.

RMT was the same in AoC at launch with guilds purchasing complete cities, mounts for everyone, etc... and it was the same in every other pvp game. Hell, people were even purchasing gold in lotro.

Ok, some games are doing a better job at banning the spammers than the others. But this still doesn't change the fact that people are still purchasing gold in the same way.

Only naive people will believe that games, like for example AoC are "fair" play.

So, RMT is everywhere, there's no point here, next:

Aion is a pvp game.

You obviously seem to be a solo player who likes to play with max 48 players around him. I like to play Massive Multiplayer online rpgs.

Furthermore, to me the gfx looks great and the avatars look much better and much more alive than i.ex: Lotro or Vanguard. The AoC avatars can compare, but I don't see anything else.

and let the lack of story and world atmospherics be apart of my vast library of mmorpgs, you are mistaken.

If you had at least played the first few levels in the starter area you would have seen:

1. many quests tell you about the world, about the races, about the abyss, etc...

2. there are cut scenes (some of them interactive) that send you back into your lost memories to tell you about your past and your place in the world.

3. There are books full of lore. Like i.ex the quest somewhere between level 1 and 10 that asks you to deliver a book to someone. Guess what? Try to open the book and you will see 9 pages of lore.

My iimages are to support the wquality in world craftmanship, something Aion has not.

What surprised me so much is that Aion is the most detailed, breathing and living world of them all (Aoc and lotro also aren't bad, but Aion has more life).

- small animals like squirrels, rabbits, lizards, critters etc... everywhere
- many different kinds of birds in the skies (and much better done than lotro - you actually see they are birds).
- many different kinds of fish in the water
- details like some small bugs hanging down from trees.
- footprints on relevant surfaces
- avatars and npcs with emotes reacting to rain, snow/cold, water,  heat (you also get some damage when walking over fire),etc...
- cities alive with npcs working, accelerating their walking speed and slowing down, etc...
- weather effects with lightning effects on world objects, fog, sounds of thunder before it rains, sounds of rain, etc... (after 1 year AoC is still missing most of these sounds)
- excellent sound effects with everything alive around you.
- etc...

No other game since Wow (and not wow at launch) has this level of polish. Lotro & AoC come close, but are missing some features. Vanguard with its unfinished game engine is missing 50% of all this.

And so does Aion, see above.

Did you really say that with a straight face? All what you said is irrelevant.

The point is that regardless whether you have the best PC out or not, it's client related.

I have a pretty good PC which ran AoC very good with everything cranked up, but once it came to sieges, it used to be a slide show, and you simply had to lower them way down to keep it playable. It did not scale well at all. That's why I said Aion had the best graphics/performance ratio. You have huge numbers on the screen and it's still very fluid, no lag, and you don't need to lower anything. A game containing sieges as one of the main gimmics is going to have a lot of characters on the screen at the same time.

The question isn't whether you care how a game runs on someone's PC or not, it's whether the game can handle decent numbers doing battle at the same time.

AoC and WAR severely lacked this, Aion, thankfully delivers it.

The performance vs graphic decisions developers make is critical in games like these.    While I prefer Lineage ][ type graphics, even in those sieges lag was a real issue.    Developers of AION made critical decisions in delivering the best graphics possible, while allowing for large scale PvP and PvE game play to occur with minimum hits on system performance; a very difficult issue to address and one it appears to have done an excellent job at.

ps: My scout turned 10 and the game has opened up in a huge way.   It feels like the game is more fun the further I progress.   It is a very well crafted game.
