1)  Before doing this again train to fly transports, specifically (since you're gallente) the Viator as it can warp cloaked and aligns and flies very quickly (for a hauler anyway).

2)  Consider having a carrier or jump freighter meet you in lowsec and jump the goods to 0.0.  If your corp is living more than just a very few  jumps deep in 0.0 and doesn't have access to one or the other you guys are in for a hell of a rough time :)

If you can't do 1, or 2, above... never fly through 0.0 without at least someone to scout you.

I almost envy you on that numbers you guys throw around here :) "hundreds of millions lost, still it was fun "

I'm new to the game, bleeding broke and cannot even afford skills. Found out that i have to grind corp-standing with lvl1 Q-17 20k missions to be able to get lvl2s for a little more cash and you are having fun losing the millions :)

when i started  eve in 2004 i remember making my first million isk mining in my imicus , i know alot of people hate mining but it's still today a fast and safe way of making isk .

there always a market for ore and always will be , but mission running later on get better for isk once you get those level 3 or level 4 agents .

All am saying it;s not hard making isk in eve just depends of the time you wanna invest .

This is why I hide in a remote 0.9 space and mine all day.

Err say WHAT?   Mining in high sec is neither a fast way to make isk nor is it particularly "safe", especially if you're doing it in a ship that requires you to jetcan mine :)  If you train the social skills (which you can EASILY pay for with level 1 mission rewards) you can quickly get to level 2 and level 3 missions and be making 10x more isk running missions than you can make mining in high sec, even in a hulk.

Tip for anyone doing missions:

Train to use salvagers and tractor beams and train destroyers 1.

Fit out a destroyer with a couple tractor beams and a few salvagers and after each mission bookmark your wrecks then go complete the mission and come back in your destroyer to loot/salvage all the wrecks.  Even a lowly level 1 mission will net you over 1million isk in loot/salvage.

A level 4 mission, by the way, can often net you 30+ million in loot/salvage... on top of the bounties & mission payout you get.

A Good Sandbox isn't about your characters abilities; It's about the players ability.

HEHEHE it gets better it really does but it does start out that way.

As to mining in the previous post. With the proper skills and tactics mining can be used to supplement your income, but for the most part, on it's now, mining is a dead end it seems to me. With high skills and used to add variety to other activates it can be helpful tho.

Correction:  Mining in high sec is a dead end... unless you are multi-boxing with several accounts....

If you're going to mine for your isk in EVE get in a 0.0 alliance and mine the real ores.  The high sec ores are crap and not worth your time tbh.  Unless, as I said, you're multi-boxing...  And even then.... you're still better off doing it in 0.0 on the ABC ores.

Also.... once you have a bit of a nest egg don't blow it all on ships.  Keep growing your nest egg and get into other aspects of EVE to make real isk.  Trade/Market work is where the real money is at, if you have the patience for it.  Buy Low/Sell High and make a bloody fortune doing it if you do it right.

meh, I might disagree with Taram on the mining in high sec thing. All you gotta do is park in 0.5, go afk, leave drones out on aggressive, then come back and hope they killed a hauler spawn. sometimes they drop faction. I made bout 100 mil that way no lies.

Add to that its all tax free w/o the hassle of Alliance and punk ass reds trying to smoke ya for an easy kill in 0.0.

Not to mention you can probably do all this wit +5 implants on

Ya, ya, yeah I wear my best implants at all times in 0.0 most of the time but thats only because i know the system

I tell ya it's almost as if EVE/CCP favors high sec carebears way over us Alliance pkers.

Op dont feel too bad I lost way more then that to a POS thief i think. I had a fully loaded out Domi parked at corp pos. normally I never park it there and leave it overnight. but this time I did. I login next day and my domi + t2 fitted thorax was gone.

That lost cost me in excess of 150m easily :(

sometimes i just think this game just punish, punish, punish

That's not mining.  That's ratting.    And, frankly, 40-100mil a day is peanuts compared to what you can make running and looting/salvaging lvl 4 missions for 2-3hrs.  In 3 hrs I can make almost 200 million isk doing missions if I loot & salvage.  Sure what youre saying is decent afk money but then again you can make 10x that afk through trade as well once you have a big enough  nest egg to work with.  Also, the odds of you getting 40-100 mil doing that are fairly slim.  You got lucky when it happened.  AND you couldn't truely be AFK either cuz the wrecks will despawn with the loot inside them if you don't loot them in time.

As to 0.0?  If you can't make more than 50mil/hr in 0.0 you are, seriously, doing it wrong.  My wife used to mine solo in a hulk in 0.0 and made 70mil an hour just doing that.  And that's 'easy mode'.  You can get stinking rich in 0.0 if you do it right.

I'm not saying you cant make more doing other things. I'm saying you are obviously wrong that high sec mining is useless when I see high sec filled to the brim with miners

L4s is a mind numbing grind bTW. At least if you are a miner, you can gather ores & mats for your high sec research labs and so forth. Cant get liquid ozone from L4s right

Neither L4s or Mining is something I do really. I just show up at mining ops to held defend them from hostiles or haul if needed

I personally don't think much of L4s or Mining. Both activites are boring as shit and people would quit in the masses if they couldn't AFK both activities. Ratting sucks balls as well. Trading is fun however. Anyway, pve is just a means to an end in EVE...

What he left out here folks is that using that destroyer to salvage & loot is a mind numbing activity. Takes forever. And worse- it requires you to be at yer keyboard. zzzZzzzz

Mining is way SAFER than mission running by far. Many missions are bugged (this is EVE yes) + if you're not fitted out proper you can get pwned in L4s.

Myself I just stick to flying my pvp ships on Fleet supported ops with my Alliance so I dont have to grind to make ISK. I also get loot from enemies and such which helps.

Ratting sucks as well. But at least it only takes a few mins to kill a BS. So I kill 2-3 1.8 mil rats bout once every 3-4 days. I also Trade which beats the hell out of Ratting/Mining/Missions. Trading in EVE is like true persistant PVP

Well all I have to say is that

1) I've never lost a ship in a mission

2) I've never had less than 50mil in my wallet since I had more than 2 million SP (which you can have in a few days these days)

3) If you aren't fitting ships properly you'll die anyway

4) Mining in high sec in anything below a hulk isn't something you can do "afk either" because you have to put the ore somewhere or fly back to station constantly.

5) Looting/salvaging in a destroyer may be boring but you're talking 1-2 million every 10 minutes in a properly fitted catalyst.  PS: You don't go loot salvage while the mission is up.  You bookmark 1 wreck in each room of your mission, go complete the mission with your agent, then go back to your bookmarks in the destroyer.  There won't be any ships, structures or even warp gates at your wrecks then because the mission goes away but the wrecks remain in space.  Fit a catalyst as follows:  1x AB, 1xCap Recharger, 2x Tractor Beam, 6x Salvager, 3x Cargo Expander II's (and if you rig it through cargo rigs on it) then just book it around looting and salvaging and tractoring wrecks.  You can salvage an entire level 4 mission in under 15 minutes.

I have over 8 billion isk in cash, over 5 billion in investments and over 4 billion in ships.  I think I know what I'm talking about when I tell you that high sec mining is a waste of time.  Sure, if you're in a hulk you can do it afk fairly easily... hell I've seen people do it in badgers too.  But it isn't exactly good money.  At most mining in high sec will net you about 5-7 million isk an hour (note: That's in a covetor, hulk or mining battleship, which will take you at least a month to get into and have skills that allow you to mine fast enough to make that kind of isk and it is NOT AFK, if you try to mine AFK you will make far less unless you're violating the EULA and risking getting banned in the process).

Running just level 1 & 2 missions you can easily make 5 million isk/hour within your first few days in the game.   After about 2 months you can be running L4 missions where you can clear an easy 10-20mil/hr and that's with VERY basic skills doing missions slowly in a drake.... once you have good solid skills (if you wish to remain in high sec) you can make over 40mil/hr.  So, sure, you can "mostly" AFK mine for hours and make 20-40mil/day or you can spend an hour at the keyboard and make 40+mil/hr eventually.

It's entirely up to you how you make your isk.  I'm just pointing out that mining in high sec, while you can make some money doing it, isn't exactly the best way to make money.   Even running missions isn't the best way, it's far more lucrative to run plexes (more skills required though) and even more lucrative to go the manufacturing/trade route.  The key there is you need a small starting fund to get going on trade.  There are plenty of guides on how to get started on trade.... once you get the hang of it the sky is the limit as far as income.  I know guys that spend maybe 4-10 hours a week on their trade characters who make over 4 billion isk a week doing it.
