Originally posted by iceman00 I'm not sure how player looting attracts "the worst kind of players". I mean look at EVE as an example. Yes the game has tons of bots and macroers but the community that actually plays the game is awesome. www.agonysend.org |

"The Old Republic is being made with all the trimmings of an MMO. Full PvP, groups, raids, guilds, auctions, and crafting will play major parts in the game design and have players building up their resources to battle it out across the galaxy" I wonder, is it all the trimmings of a MMO since WOW or before. Because before we had A LOT more depth and ability. If you look the the MMO since WOW, they are linear, shallow, and fun for about a week. |

In general, the game resembles a mash-up of Knights of the Old Republic/Mass Effect and World of WarCraft.
Not So sure I like that.. |

PvP & player looting? This just made me much more interested in this game.
aggreed. I mean the star wars universe is just one big war good guys vs bad guys with some kissing in between scenes :) |

Originally posted by Murashu I know some people care but most MMOers admit to skipping thru quest dialogue and only read what the objectives are. I see nothing immersive about a game that has thousands of people completing the same quest for the same guy, killing the same bad guy in the same place in the same manner, day after day after day.
I play single-player RPG's for my taste of immersion.
Who care about being immersive? This sounds like a fun game. Light sabre battles, cover combat, interesting stories .... |

I have to admit that some of the things being release are looking pretty cool and I'd like to have a chance to beta the game to get a real sense of what to expect. I don't fully understand the part you mentioned about crafting though. I remember early on hearing/reading something about crafting being a secondary portion of the game. If I had to wager money I imagine that crafting in TOR will be similar to WoW and that type of crafting. I really hated that system of NPC looting for resources but it is what it is I suppose. If they can somehow strike a balance between world drop item quality and crafted item quality I'd be happy even if I don't really like the system. |

You know, there were games before WOW, that didn't have the "kill x, collect y" type of quests. Those are the type of games we do want back, but not in a single player type experience. |

Speaking only for yourself. I, for one, am interested in SP type experience with some MP trimmings. |

How come so many people grip about kill x mobs or collect y items quests?!? I mean come on it is getting old, I can't think of one game I have played that had one of those quests that didn't have a story or reason attached to it, do you guys read the quest diologue? What it really comes down to is a group of players who see themselves above these "meaningless" quests, read/post on way too many forums where people complain about how worthless these quests are.... blah blah blah. We can't always be heroes saving the princess, sometimes you gotta plunge the toliet too. |
