What are you people talking about?

Of course they owe us something.

We're the people pimping, pitching, projecting and publicising their game for them FOR FREE across a thousand different game forums.

Our enthusiasm and eagerness for them to succeed is worth literally tens of millions of dollars to them.;

Car manufacturers, washing machine makers, chip manufacturers would kill to have the kind of support for their products and their company that we are giving TOR and Bioware.

So, we were told there would be game footage at E3. We waited and we looked forward to this. Then we were told that it would be shown to journalists but not to us.

People are disappointed and even understandably angry.

An explanation would cost Bioware precisely nothing at all. An apology might even win them some friends.

OP is funny. People really rescheduled their day to see a game interview?.........I love me some video games....but I figured I'd just hear everything online...here for example....at my own pace. Right now ...I even have a lot of time to kill...(economy locked into a part time job...so I decided to go back to school in Aug.).....and I've been playing video games  since the mid-seventies..(collected comics and PnPRPGed until early this decade)...and still never thought to re-arrange my entire day around a game that I  AM  very excited to  have in my old, grubby, lazy hands.

correction: I have...once I had purchased a game.....called out sick to play. That was over 20 years ago though....I think it was The Legend of Zelda on NES....lol.

The last straw was to reveal players won't be able to see the in game footage till week(s).
 
They planned this long time ago, saw hundred of posts expecting for new infos and even a count down to gamespot interview supposed to show off actual game play... and they did nothing.
 
Many people managed their schedule around gamespot event and so wasted their time.
 
I can say I had a bitter taste in my mouth when I read Sean post

It reminded me how SoE managed SWG players, I wished we where past that behavior. I do hope it'll be better next time.
 
 

 

Okay seriously. Anyone else who starts a thread with SOE or SWG should be taken out and shot. People need to learn how to exercise a little patience. You'll get to see the demo soon enough and then you can spend the next few weeks complaining about what's wrong with it and how the game will be a total failure. Hell why even bother? Just post right now what's wrong with it. It isn't like some of you guys ever needed any evidence to prove your boisterous claims or predictions.

I would love to see the great publicity you have done for Bioware. By all means, show me the posters,commercials or other means and explain how you are "owed" something. And NO, blabbing about it over the internet doesn't count. That just means you're a gossiper, not a publicist.

Initially I would not go as far as you but honestly you are right, many companies would kill just to have the insane amount of free advertisement MMO gets. (edit: I'm not sure they owe us more than delivering a nice and fun game though)

The funny thing is most of the MMO studios don't know how to manage their customer’s base so, it too often, backfires.

Now to the people saying I'm exaggerating, please note that I did not say BioWare = = SoE and there was a question mark at the end of my sentence.

LoL comparing BioWare to SOE is like comparing a small Fiat to the latest Ferrari ... Do some reading about BioWare it might help you in the future when you make more posts about them. And second I agree with us not having so much info about it yet but it will come dont worry and relax.

Truly.....I wonder if people will schedule the day off...just to complain about TOR when they release actual game footage.

you're making a mountain out of a mole hill in my estimation and while we have companies so undeserving of our trust like Av,FC, and SOE you are worried about something this insignificant? Bioware has a long way to go to deserve any comparison to SOE or atleast before you get most people to think this post makes any sense.

  I can only think you are new to mmos in general if something like this bothers you mmos are slow to develop and that's why most are not in agreement with you the demo that showed up at E3 was awesome and didn't come out til E3 about a week ago and now you are bitching about not being thrown another bone?

  What's more you should really know the history of SOE which is hard to believe you do if you even thought to write a comparison of Bioware to SOE.

all these posts i read about people being mad remind me of a child in the store stomping up and down demanding to get a toy from his mom. then BAM! the child gets his ass tore up for acting like a jackass. i think thats what needs to happen around here.

@ Jaxsundane: as a matter of fact I've been playing P&P RPGs and video games since the first one of each and I had my share of MMO, particularly SWG from day 1.. I mean day 2.

@ Lornj: you should read my other posts in the tread it will shed some light and you'll see I wasn't mad nor crying at all.

My point was more to bring some focus on this miscommunication issue as a try to prevent such behavior from BioWare/LA in future. 

I have nothing against BioWare and I do know they make well polished games but as a customer I expect them to treat us well. So not saying the game play footage won't be publicly shown when you do know players are expecting it and managed their schedule accordingly  is a no no.

If, as customers, we don't act now we open the door for BioWare/La to treat us badly. Imagine the same event being done when the game is live: major change made in the shadows, players grinded hard for something and surprise... it would be forum wars 5.10 and screw time 3.0. Would you sign  for that?

As a side note I really don't mind not seeing it as I knew quite none new game mechanics would be shown.

Not telling players there was no in game footage to be publicly shown, when you do know they are expecting it, is the way of SOE.

 

i prefer them not to over hype the game by telling us features that might not make it in to the game at release. They dont owe you anything, so just wait like the rest of us.

Sadly in the state of MMO's right now I totally agree.  I also don't see the point in even mentioning things that you aren't 100% certain are tested and are going to be in launch as this only brings anger/contempt from MMO players.  Hopefully they live and learn, that underpromise and over deliver is the way to go.  Good surprises make ppl happy they invested their money, bad surprises make ppl get angry.

Anyone who manages their schedule around a game event needs to take a hard look at his or her priorities.
