So after waiting for a few days for new infos and even announced in game play we learnt quite nothing new about the game.
 
The last straw was to reveal players won't be able to see the in game footage till week(s).
 
They planned this long time ago, saw hundred of posts expecting for new infos and even a count down to gamespot interview supposed to show off actual game play... and they did nothing.
 
Many people managed their schedule around gamespot event and so wasted their time.
 
I can say I had a bitter taste in my mouth when I read Sean post

(edit) In all fairness I wanted to say BioWare improved their communication management in the last week as they told players the game play footage won't be for this week but would come later. Also they pointed at the a smuggler update (now live) and the delay about E3 recap. /tiphat

WoW... comparing Bioware to SoE is just wow...

I think you really need another hobby if this affected you so much.

Give is a rest they show the in game demo behind closed doors and you call them SoE?

I've already read enough on the demo to know the game will rock, I don't need to see some non-mmo player fumble with the ToR controls to prove the game will be good.

Not telling players there was no in game footage to be publicly shown, when you do know they are expecting it, is the way of SOE.

im glad bioware are not over hyping the game, if they tell you feature now you will get all excited and then come release if it doesnt make it in , then everyone will be bitching. Look how ridiculous paul barnetts description of warhammer is now that we have play the game for ourselves,.All the mmo's that have failed recently were over hyped, and couldnt live up to that hype, in the end thats what killed them

i prefer them not to over hype the game by telling us features that might not make it in to the game at release. They dont owe you anything, so just wait like the rest of us.

I was pretty frustrated for having sat thru all the other e3 stuff just to get to the TOR stuff only to find out they weren't showing any footage. The Gamespot host also assumed that they would show the footage. I was also pissed that Sean saw people talking about this for days, but didn't come out and say that it wasn't gonna be shown till AFTER the interview. All this leads me to believe that the showing of footage was either planned, or even Sean had no idea they weren't showing the footage till after they said they weren't. This is bad communication with the community manager, and really put him in the line of fire if that's the case. Of course he can not say anything but that BW is sorry. We may never know what really happened. I hope they learned from this meltdown.

Lot's of games have been shown behind closed doors during E3, and then later ended up being amazing titles. And information about what was shown behind those doors will get out in a few days anyways probably.

This is their first big screw up.  Before comparing them to SOE, we need to see if they learn anything from it.

When Bioware is ready to show more in-game footage then they will. Just be patient.

My point was more to put some emphasis on this event and miscommunication management. If I knew it would be hopeless I would just have moved away.
 
Only the future will tell us what they learnt from it and how they used this experience.
 
Well if I didn't already, I guess I made a name of myself and won't ever be invited in the beta. So in a way I'll make someone happy, the one who'll get my spot ;)

The good thing to come out of all of this is that they got some decent feedback from a few sites that really are impartial to the game (some you didn't read in the articles), so I'm pretty sure most of what we did read was a pretty honest assessment of the game at this point, which isn't bad at all.

I don't read swtor's forums much, but the way i understood it by people talking about it all over I thought the demo was an officially confirmed event.

i sat through both interviews only to wonder what had happened. then i found out that there was no official word on the demo ever taking place. its sad really because they knew all along what people expected and did not clarify it to them.

yep, that's why I don't think even Sean knew. He is usually pretty good at keeping people in the loop and shutting down rumors if he knows. He posted that they wouldn't be showing footage about the time Gordon said they wouldn't be showing any today. Oh well, when they do show this footage at least we know that it's what we get in the game.

If bioware showed footage  someone  would find something to criticise. I believe they did the smart thing by not showiung anything until it is developed more.  Look at this years releases and last years and see why more comapanies are withholding info.

The whole idea behind closed doors press presentations is based on the "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" principle and it is a natural aspect to big releases; the cinematic trailer was made public right away, the gameplay info will be for the press to make some money and publicity on. They could have told us though :)

And for those who think they wasted time; I spent the whole day moving the great company where I worked for 7 years, at least, what's left of it after it went bankrupt due to the crisis. Felt like a friggin' funeral with the difference that it's also physically taxing. I envy those who wasted time on this.

Anyone who manages their schedule around a game event needs to take a hard look at his or her priorities.

Actually reading all those articles again, there was plenty of new info, such as player controlled ecomomy . Hopefully they do a better job with that then SOE did with SWG.
