Even with my pessimism, I'm pretty sure I'll buy L4D2 because the first game was the few MP ones lately that made me lose hours of sleep in the first days I played. I bet a lot of people will end giving up on that boycott, because Valve aren't bad developers at all. I agree with whoever said EA might have offered a big paycheck to Valve as incentive for the sequel. They saw a lot of potential and competent developers, it's a sure good investment. |

Nothing wrong with a mindless rant sometimes but I'll surely be picking up L4D2 at launch. The game will be too much fun. |

dude valve is much too good to be compared to the borg of pc gaming. so they screw up sometimes. they also gave us HL/HL2. what has EA done for me lately? they bought mythic and bioware so they can churn out 2 stinkburgers. valve gets a pass on this one from me due to the good things they have done. |

Valve DID officially say they were going to support L4D even moreso than TF2. |

Well it would be at least good if they give us some kind of real story. I actually never played single player mode because there is nothing to see expect maybe the achievements but i don't care about them.

Seriously.. this crying over L4D2 when you've seen all of about uh, lets see.... pretty much NOTHING on it.. is getting quite out of hand. I don't know you but from reading your posts you're CLEARLY not a Hard Core Member. All of your 1900+ posts PROBABLY contain crying over something. It's pretty obvious. Now, shut your childish mouth and go with your little "L4D2 Boycott" Community.
Now I know which people to avoid on this forum. Little brats like you. Get the mirror out, the only whiner in this thread is you. Lobotomist always has a good point to make, whether I agree with it or not. If you don't like discussing things with those that disagree with you, maybe you should move to another board. |

Also there is story to be found ingame, you just have to look for it. Read the graffiti on the safe room walls for example. |

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3174667 Gamers: Looks sweet! Uh, but what's with the lack of content. This is it? Valve: Oh, don't worry. Like we did with Team Fortress 2, we'll continue to update the game with new maps, weapons, characters, achievements, and so on. Oh, and there's also going to be modding tools shortly after launch, so the community can create a bunch of fun campaigns for everybody to enjoy. Gamers: Well, if that's the case sign me up. You guys have a history of adding and updating to your games for years, so we trust you. --Game Launches-- Gamers: Wow, great game, but now I'm bored. When are the updates and modding tools coming out Valve? Valve: Soon. --2 Months Pass-- Gamers: Uh, Valve, you there? --4 Months Pass-- Valve: Hey, remember those two campaigns that you couldn't play before in Versus? Now you can! Also, we have a new mode. Basically, we just take a few rooms from existing campaigns and make you fight zombies until you die 30 seconds later. Oh, and modding tools are still not done. Gamers: Cool, but we were expecting new stuff, not recycling stuff that's already in the game and giving us the ability to play those two campaigns which we were supposed to at launch. Valve: We still have a lot planned for Left 4 Dead! ---2 Months Pass-- Valve: Hey everybody, Left 4 Dead 2 is coming out. It's got new campaigns, new characters, and new weapons! How innovative is that! The best part is that it's going to be full price! Gamers: What the hell! You promised us all this new content for Left 4 Dead, which is the entire reason I even bougth that game when it has so little content. Now you're putting out a sequel that could easily be DLC content. Valve: Yeah, we kinda were planning on giving you guys all this via free updates, but we decided it was better to ignore our promises to our fans and make money off of you dumb people. Tools: Errr...new game!? Hell yeah! I'd better start saving my birthday money. Everbody Else: Screw you Valve. We payed full price for a game that had almost no content just because you promised us you'd add to it, but instead of delivering on your promises of updating the game you're expecting people to pay for it while keeping existing L4D players hanging. Valve: It doesn't matter. Look at the 1up.com site. There's a ton of stupid people who don't mind paying for something that was supposed to be free. Sorry, but dumb people now make us money. average_gamer: Exactly. Me wants shiney game. Boycotters dumb. Who care if dis game only DLC. --Fin-- |

Well since you don't seem to be able to provide any counter points and your only intent seems to attack another poster instead of trying to discuss the issue, you have relagated yourself ot major troll status. |

Valve is not even close to "the new EA", but L4D is the first product from them which has left a bitter taste. Relative to every other Valve release L4D lacks support and content by a large margin and releasing a sequel this soon is a bit of a kick in the teeth. Since the Half-Life era Valve has been a company which has offered support and content (or at least mod tools and server tools) well beyond the norm in the game industry. The announcement of L4D2 after relatively poor support is about the standard in the industry. People are reacting so badly because they are used to Valve being better than the average game company. |

For me the problem is Steam, not promised content. I had a game disabled by Steam and was unable to get it to play again. That really sucks. And, I can't give the game away or sell it. That also sucks. And I can't play offliine, becuase STeam has to verify I own it. Again, more suckage. I now boycott all games enabled with STEAM. Give me a good old CD with a key any day. Kudos to the developers of Fallout 3 for not using something so fucked up as Steam. That being said, I don't think you should EVER buy a game based on promised future content. If it's not enough game for you to justify the purchase price right now, don't buy it. If it is, then buy it, and think of future content as a bonus if it shows up. |

Life is too short to boycott gaming companies. I posted in another thread my disappointment at such greedy business practices by Valve, will I boycott the entire company because of it, No. Long story short I love games too much, and if Valve releases the next awesome game I'll damn well play it, likewise with any other notorius company, be it EA, SOE or whatever. something not as fucked up as steam. you mean all manner of nasty spyware isntead like rootkits to stop you being able to detect what its doing? yeah, rather have steam tyvm. and what game was disabled exactly, and why? you give no reasons just a whine off. probably got banned is what you meant to say. this thread is full of whining little prepubescants its pathetic and hilarious at the same time. fucking hell, buy it or do not, end of. steam hatred is irrational and pathetic. its a good peice of software which enables THOUSANDS of indie devs to get their game sold. realistically peaking L4D2 will be great, and frankly if I dont have to team with you snivvelling little shits then all the better Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man! |

A couple comments: 1. L4D is not an MMO, neither is the sequel. 2. Enjoy your boycott, I'll be enjoying the new game. |
