/agree , I really disliked how EA bought Bullfrog (incorporating them to a random EA dev house) and killed the Dungeon Keeper series, and similar things in the past only added injury to EA's image. It's pretty hard to get that bad. 

Even with my pessimism, I'm pretty sure I'll buy L4D2 because the first game was the few MP ones lately that made me lose hours of sleep in the first days I played. I bet a lot of people will end giving up on that boycott, because Valve aren't bad developers at all.

I agree with whoever said EA might have offered a big paycheck to Valve as incentive for the sequel. They saw a lot of potential and competent developers, it's a sure good investment.

Nothing wrong with a mindless rant sometimes but I'll surely be picking up L4D2 at launch. The game will be too much fun.

Its beyond obvious that they will try to iron out any existing bugs so im assuming the only thing you can be crying about is that new content will not be added in Left 4 Dead

dude valve is much too good to be compared to the borg of pc gaming. so they screw up sometimes. they also gave us HL/HL2.

what has EA done for me lately? they bought mythic and bioware so they can churn out 2 stinkburgers. valve gets a pass on this one from me due to the good things they have done.

Valve DID officially say they were going to support L4D even moreso than TF2.

L4D2's announcement not even a year after L4D is a smack in any rational persons face.

Finally making 2 maps playable in versus and adding an extra mode with a tiny rule change does NOT take many man hours especially considering they had already said it'd be there. A year before release the game wasn't even confirmed to ship with a versus mode... us GAMERS told them we would not buy it without versus. I would not have even bought it if I had known I was only getting 4 small campaigns out of it, unfortunately Valve told us otherwise.

The dev team that made this decision and L4D also made Counter Strike:Condition Zero a terrible mod for counter strike used to milk the player base. I figured once they sat around valve long enough they would've learned a few things about customer satisfaction, I was wrong.

OK I get it, some of you convinced yourself that playing the same map over and over again for hours is actually worth the money you spent, not all of us were able to do that.

It's a little rough saying valve as a whole is the new EA, but certainly the turtle rock branch of valve is pretty damn close.

Well it would be at least good if they give us some kind of real story. I actually never played single player mode because there is nothing to see expect maybe the achievements but i don't care about them.

they didnt add story because you supposed to be you own story, also for replay value you dont want to see the same story over and over again

Also there is story to be found ingame, you just have to look for it. Read the graffiti on the safe room walls for example.

Gamers: Looks sweet! Uh, but what's with the lack of content. This is it?

Valve: Oh, don't worry. Like we did with Team Fortress 2, we'll continue to update the game with new maps, weapons, characters, achievements, and so on. Oh, and there's also going to be modding tools shortly after launch, so the community can create a bunch of fun campaigns for everybody to enjoy.

Everbody Else: Screw you Valve. We payed full price for a game that had almost no content just because you promised us you'd add to it, but instead of delivering on your promises of updating the game you're expecting people to pay for it while keeping existing L4D players hanging.

he has been in this community for a while. you have 7 posts. did you come here just to trash him and defend valve?

 Valve is not even close to "the new EA", but L4D is the first product from them which has left a bitter taste.

Relative to every other Valve release L4D lacks support and content by a large margin and releasing a sequel this soon is a bit of a kick in the teeth. Since the Half-Life era Valve has been a company which has offered support and content (or at least mod tools and server tools) well beyond the norm in the game industry.

The announcement of L4D2 after relatively poor support is about the standard in the industry. People are reacting so badly because they are used to Valve being better than the average game company.

For me the problem is Steam, not promised content. I had a game disabled by Steam and was unable to get it to play again. That really sucks. And, I can't give the game away or sell it. That also sucks. And I can't play offliine, becuase STeam has to verify I own it. Again, more suckage.

I now boycott all games enabled with STEAM. Give me a good old CD with a key any day. Kudos to the developers of Fallout 3 for not using something so fucked up as Steam.

That being said, I don't think you should EVER buy a game based on promised future content. If it's not enough game for you to justify the purchase price right now, don't buy it. If it is, then buy it, and think of future content as a bonus if it shows up.

Life is too short to boycott gaming companies.

I posted in another thread my disappointment at such greedy business practices by Valve, will I boycott the entire company because of it, No. Long story short I love games too much, and if Valve releases the next awesome game I'll damn well play it, likewise with any other notorius company, be it EA, SOE or whatever.
