Welcome to the new internet trend. Before E3 2009 Valve used to be a company PC players used to love. Enter L4D2 (by the way does that not reminds you of R2D2 ?) Now Valve stepped on and spit in everything PC gamers used to love about Valve.
Do you think a gaming company can ever recover from this ?

You're not making much sense to those like me that are not aware of what you're talking about. |

Either I've been watching a differnt E3... or I don't see what the fuss you're making is about...
What exactly do you think Valve has done to "spit on everything PC gamers loved" about them and turned gamers against them?

Talking about Left 4 Dead 2 announcement at E3. Basically Valve sold original L4D - a very content limited , unfinished and still experimental game - for 50$ Under false pretense that they will continue supporting it with new maps, weapons, game mods and gameplay tweaks. But in fact (which is now shockingly revealed) Valve started to make L4D2 in same moment they released L4D1.So instead of working on fixing the just released game, they immidiately started planning to sell the FIXED game as NEW game. Now this policy is not unheared of. Actually is something many gaming companies practice... Like EA for example. But these gaming companies arent exactly loved... And here is Valve joining the club...

Honestly, since they're addin comical type melee weapons (frying pans, etc..), let the 360 owners have it. I loved L4D for its sense of realism and immersiveness. If they want people to run around with flame throwers (which we all have in our closets in our houses, right?) , rocket launchers, and katanas, then by all means let them. I sure as hell won't be playing. As a PC gamer who owns consoles (which are collecting dust more than anything), my main game focus is on multiplay options. I just find controller based FPS'ers too cumbersome. Not only that, you don't get the fun options of opening up an SDK and making the game to your own personal vision. If Valve keeps with a 360 exclusive project, then they're going to take a hit on sales. There are just as many PC players as there are 360 players, so they're alienating a large portion of players who don't want or even own a 360 who would pay to play the game on the PC that they spent twice as much money for. I'd keep an eye on it. We'll see how things progress, but I'm still not happy with the new choices of weaponry. I will say that I am intrigued about the new boss infected. Edit: Just read that it's for both. I'm happy about that, but still unhappy about the weapons additions. |

or lobotomist you try to say valve is turning to be like EA making new version of old game every year like for example fifa series and nhl?! well i would tough that valve would have just added new maps to original l4d and weapons , items etc etc. not neccesarily just making whole new game. |

Why are you so Upset? Valve has given us quality games since Half-life. Games that have been supported by the Mod community giving us years of gameplay goodness. Are these guys not allowed to release a sequel to a game? I understand that L4D2 looks like more like an expansion pack than a true sequel but does it really matter? I Enjoyed L4D and I look forward to the new campaigns. Also I don't know why you're bitching about a Console exclusive L4D2 is coming to PC also, who gives a shit about consoles?
L4D rocks and L4D2 will rock just as much. No Valve is nothing Like EA.

I'm fine with it. I've got a lot of hours logged into L4D. They're packaging L4D2 as a seperate game because it's NOT THE SAME GAME. The gameplay is Similar, but everything from the graphics requirements to the characters is completely seperate.
I would rather see this sold as the sequal than see the new gibs dropped down to the quality of the first one. I mean cmon... There are massive improvements in limb seperation! LineageII | LoTRO | RFO | 9Dragons | Aion | Perfect World | Ether Saga | Dungeon Runners | GuildWars | Hellgate London | tCoS | Warhammer | AoC | Tabula Rasa

soo...ITT OPs blatent and quite funny nerdrage about 360 meant he couldnt even read about the game he wants to bash.
OP. Valve are nothing like EA, they dont put out POS very often and a Valve POS is 1000x better than anything EA ever put out so I dont know what you aer talking about. Valve is still run by a big fat sweaty game loving guy, when it gets taken over by a suit wearing money grabbing jew then fine, worry about them. We've got a few more years yet im sure.
And, so what if its been a year only, if they felt the changes were so big/core then its a new game, and pointless to try and patrch it in/run it on top of L4D. Get over it. Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man! |

But , for every one sheepish "I buy all that is served to me. I am ultimate consumer" person There is also people that actually think , and buy only VALUE for their money worth
Those people are now refusing to buy Valve products. And they are telling their friends not to buy Valve products.
In today VIRAL marketing world - it constitutes as huge economic blow. You can not longer cheat one customer and than expect nobody else will not know about it.
So simply There will be always people that BUY ANYTHING that is put in shiny wrapper. (above posts show that) But there is also thinking inteligent people. And they buy smart. And Valve just lost them

Your comparison is weak at best, so you resort to insults instead. Valve hasnt had me as a customer since HL2, so go smoke that one over your commect about shiny boxes. Come up with more weak arguements, please its fun. Oh and, you're not over something if you so desperately feel the need to prove how over it you are. Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man! |

This thread is like some surreal experience where the 3rd poster puts words in the 1st poster's mouth and 75% of the replies afterwords think the OP is angry at the game being 360-exclusive (which most replies take the time to inform us isn't true. ;) ) Valve's games have turned a bit sour lately, but I wouldn't exaggerate to the point of calling them the new EA. Mostly I just think it was a dubious move to let players play Versus mode at all in the original L4D, as without that tacked-on feature the game would've been just fine. It's when you give gamers the option to play a lackluster Versus mode that the game's main downsides crop up, and in hindsight Versus play would've been a killer feature for L4D2. |

I, for one, am excited with L4D2. The game offers more than just melee weapons and most importantly, the AI director will now also change certain parts of the map to suit the progression of the players. For example, the devs mentioned that the crypts in New Orleans are different every time you visit them. Plus there are completely new triggered events, new weapons, new graphics, new enemies like special infected and hazmat-suit wearing zombies, new survivors complete with new voices, 5 new campaigns...
Overall seems like a solid sequel to me. This stuff couldnt be sold as an expansion pack since I 've heard they have also upgraded theeir engine to accomondate for the changes. As for L4D1 it was a great game when it launched and it has been patched to being even better now. QQ more imo. I had more fun with L4D than any other game last year and I intent to have just as much fun with its sequel. |

Everyone caves into money. EA probably slapped a huge check in front of Valve for L4D2. Just be happy they are still developing for the PC. The only true PC gaming company left (in the big scheme of things) is Blizzard. |

Interestingly, though not overly known it seems, the revenue for PC hardware has gone UP in the last year, whereas console sales actually went down a bit. Not to overinterpret, but the PC as gaming platform isnt done, its right now actually gaining more momentum than the consoles. Consoles market is big in the 2 or 3 years after each generations release so far, I grant you that. However, with PCs being reasonably priced, and consoles not only being expensive but starting to see the little problems PCs had, like crashes, hardware malfunctions, buggy games, patches and all that, I dont think we know where this is heading yet. I dont remember who said it, but some designer, may even be Garriot or Molyneux, once said " When I look out of the window, I see hundreds of windows with hundreds of PCs behind them, each a potential gaming rig." The PC market has one huge advantage over the consoles market: A huge crowd of potential gamers with PCs at home that have virtually no barrier of entry except their own interest. To get someone to buy a 400+ Euro Console is a huge hurdle. To get someone to try a 40 euro game, not. E3 this year just rides on the console hype of the last fiscal year, as development normally trails the current trend by a year or two. I suspect next years E3 will bring us a ton more PC titles. |

good, they can keep it on 360, i wasn't very impressed about the first one anyways, they wasted thier time on that game instead of making another HL2 episode. |
