Its sounding more and more like Sony paid Square-Enix a buttload of money so they can announce it on their system at E3, but it'll more than likely get a 360 release at launch as well or within 6 months after! Either way I don't care as I'll be playing it on PC as that is the true MMO gamers machine!!! |

Nothing wrong with that. Matter of fact, Sony NEEDS a top line game like these Final Fantasy game to help with PS3 sales. I myself own a PS3 and see this as a good thing. This will bring more players to the system I love. |

More than likely they know and its all part of their plans. Not much has been revealed or shown yet, and the Square-Enix Press Conference is creeping up really soon!
When is the press conference? Do you know a good site to get coverage from? |

They showed it during the Sony press conference not sure if Suare had one but it all took place at E3 which is over now. |

Just to clarify, SE stated a while ago that this new MMO is not going to kill FFXI (somehow) back when the teaser was launched in 2006 for the game code named Rapture. They're probably going to do something like make FFXI F2P for those with POL accounts linked with FFXIV or lower the monthly subscription to attract new users.
There's a somewhat "fringe" contingent I'm noticing who, frankly, need a bit of perspective, to put it mildly.
Thought I'd mention that in a update FFXIV WILL NOT be using POL for it service. |

To be honest I am so glad that they are coming out with this game. I have seen several people say that they hated FFXI. I understand that its not for everyone. But in comparison to the New Gen of games that have been coming out for the last year or so have not even compared to the amount of fun, experience and friends that I have made to FFXI. I have played other MMO's only yearning for the same experience that I had with FFXI. My friends that I made on that game loyal and great people, made the game experience even more fun that previous. I have heard some amazing things about games but FFXI brought people together. Yes FFXi did have its faults gilserrers, whining people and typical issues.... But those were overshadowed by the people I have met. I have every intention on playing this game and I cannot wait. Thank you Square!!!

This is the best news ever. I'll be there fore sure. My question is.. i remember playing FFXI when it was released here in North America. But at that time it had been released for a year in Japan(?) or some Asian country. Is this game and/or will it be released in Asia before here? When it says 2010 i hope they mean north america and not just japan or something. Plus I was a tarutaru but I didn't see one in the trailer... unless i missed it?? I'll cry if i can't be the cute little things ^^ |

I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised by the announcement for FFXIV. I've been without an MMORPG for almost a year now, and recently I've thought I really wanted to play FFXI again. I did the 15 day trial only to realize I don't want to play FFXI but I want to play an online final fantasy thats unique and better!
I guess I am getting my wish! Looking forward to it! This time I won't have to be impatient and Import the game either :) |

I had to log on last night just to stop people from killing themselves b/c a whole lot of people just came to the realization that everything they did in FFXI was for nothing. Not entirly true, but for a game that it has been their life for 3, 4, 5 years this news came as a gut check. "ic0n Azumanga Daioh signature ftw." -- and thank you
I reupped to FFXI tonight... Content ID's look to currently be 1.00 each.... I saw 12.95 base with 1 character, 13.95 2 characters, 14.95 3 characters, etc.
I don't know if there will be carry over from FFXI to FFXIV but I don't know that FFXIV will release until after FF XIII, which by the way still has a December 2010 release date... So we could be waiting a long time for FFXIV |
