Amublation is on the test server? Well I guess this means I'm gonna have to eat humble pie and maybe this new MMORPG is for girlies? Well before I post an apology I'd like to see some screenshots of ambulation and read a review of it first, Thankyou, Agricola

Could someone explain some basic things to me? I am only familiar with the nWoD core and V:the Requiem books. Firstly and most importantly, which set of rules will be used, oWoD or nWoD? And secondly, as far as I know, there seem to be some power hiearchy, for example a vampire facing a werewolf alone was supposed to be in serious danger. And the mages were described to be more powerful than pretty much everything else (maybe with the exception of some vampire elders and the like). But once again, I havent read the coresponding books, so maybe the newer rules make them about equal. |

However I'm sure they are out there somewhere, I have also heard they removed it from the test server due to bugs or some junk I dunno. I'm a bit too busy to find you these screenshots or videos for you. |

Well, the game is supposed to be shown for the first time this weekend at E3 so we don't really know anything. But the chanses are best for the new world of darkness, WW killed the old one 9 years ago and don't publish back storys. They will also most likely use the gmae to promote then pen and paper RPG. Also the old "generation" stuff for Vampires wouldn't work that good in a MMO, the new system will probably fit better in a MMO. As for mages, I been playing mage for many years and while mages sometimes are very powerful they really don't want to get into a fight with a mage or Werewolf. Mages have the habit of breaking when you hit them, and since they get badly punished for vulgar magic (like fireball) they usually works thru stealth and planning. Vampires usually work thru minions and only rarely fight alone. One on one can a Werewolf of course take anything down but smart vampires and mages don't let that happen. Still, it will be interesting to see how they will balance the classes in the game. It is not that easily done. |

Originally posted by Ilvaldyr Slight rewrite. Well, if they've done their homework and really are aiming for the 18-25 year old female demographic, then we can expect a game with heavy social aspects/RPing and less of a hack/slash/pwn e-sport mentality. Definately not a bad thing; we haven't had a really good social-oriented MMORPG since SWG.
I think the Vampire Masquerade series use the "world of darkness" mythology and rules too. Personally, I do think this will have more RP in mind too since the background stories of each vampire clan is pretty deep and one of the best too. I have not played the first Vampire Masquerade game but the second one, Bloodlines, had a lot of mature content in the game and it was definitely not suited for teens. |

Yes it is the same thing, but vampires are just part of it. Like X-men in marvel universe or Texas in USA. Half the game is made by a roleplaying company so I would say that it will have more social aspects and RPG features than any other game on the market. And the lore is huge and easy to research. This is one of the 3 games I think have a chanse of becoming the next bige game that will change the genre. |

I would call this a social experiment. I'm also looking forward to seeing what CCP will put out with a World of Darkness MMO. |

CCP obviously knows what they are doing..just look how successful EVE has become. Like most games with a predetermined target market, if the game is fun, it will go right out the window. Their core audience may be female but that's because female middle age women are a fast growing demographic in the world of gaming. |

I hate to break it to you all but at the latest fanfest ( ccp holds them every year in Rejkavik Island) they said that WOD had been put on a permenent hold and they where pushing all there efforts back into EVE. So I would not expect any WoD game coming out anytime soon. So we can just put this thread to sleep.... a WoD based mmo wont be coming out this year or in the coming years so just relax and take it esy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRbxQqIskSE if you watch the begining they talk about it and how they are pushing all the efforts back into EvE and putting WoD on hold for the time being... sorry boys/girls it wont be happening |

To agree with Bandy, He most certainly has a point about women in gaming, and the Wii is as much responsible as anything. Even if it is a gamble, even if they can't get it right, at least they have the balls to try something new. |

I have read such posts a thousand times before, I have heard WoD declared dead a thousand times before, and by people more experienced than you, so until the world ends or 3 decades pass and WoD is forgotten by bigger and better things, than I will keep right on talking. The simple fact is, that you have failed to see that this thread has gone far beyond a discussion of something specific and gone on to speak about generalities and concepts, keep up would before you start lashing out at me. |

However I don't think this particular MMO would be any good unless they included playable werewolves, mages, and various other supernaturals as "races" so to speak. That was what made WoD so awesome IMO. I would give it a shot and as much support as I can, but without the other elements of the WoD world, it would only be part of the world. |

Im not lashing out at you. I provided you a link where the heads of CCP told everyone at fanfest this fall that they, due to the current state of the world econamy are no longer working full time with creating the WoD mmo. So no use talking about this game, or making an 8 page long thread about it. I know some of you realy wanted this game to happen, and I think ccp will one day make it. But it wont be this year or any of the coming years. So thier demografi on trying to target a female audiance might have changed in the year 2015-20. This is the only thing im pointing out here.... |

True blackwolf, but most games have classes, if the game was solely about vampires it wouldn't be quite as much fun, one would think. But as others pointed out there are issues with mages that would offer problems, but I agree with you, this would be one of the few games I would pay for happily, assuming it didn't suck ^^. |

Also it will probably bore the theme Park mmoer, as EvE is the closest iv gotten to the intrigue and power playing of the pen and paper game of Vampire the dark ages and masqurade. Old charecters hold more power, I would expect they stay true to this in a World of darkness game so Expect an EvE way of skilled based learning where years playing will mather more then playing 24/7. Alo I predict sandbox... so most of you on these boards wont make it im sorry... CCP = Hardcore = Elite gamers. Olds school Pen and papper Rpgers are also way older then the Them park mmoer. So the potential customers of the game have more incommon with the people who play EVE. Im sorry if this makes some of you cry but thats the only way a WoD game would work... it has to be hardcore.. Im hoping when the game actually comes out that you can Diabolirize older players and take thier power OMG that would be awsome.... |

I tend to think that anyone who invests one game's income into another game that they're trying to promote is wasting the money. If the interest is there, it'll sell itself. There's a moment where you can claim popularity in a category but it's not enough unless the challenges and objectives are there for the user to work for. Like any game: "Do you want to try again?" From my stance, they're trying to promote the current vampire fetish that's provoked by todays current pop book/film lore, and it's sad to see CCP spend money on another game instead of their ambulation (and wishful thinking: planet) side of Eve Online. What some of us would give to have everything in one game for that particular genre. If World of Darkness succeeds because of this investments, then *golf claps*. Now where's my ambulation? Supposedly I'm landing in space stations without an interior view besides the ship I look at all day! |

I guess this means that there will be more story plot elements and actual RPG and good character personalization. There probably will not be a big emphasis on killing stuff though it will probably be there in some fashion. Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2. Game(s) I Am Currently Playing: GW2 (+LoL and BF3) |
