A short time ago, CCP began paying closer attention to the number of ships that have been destroyed in EVE Online, and in their latest dev blog they reveal their data in graph form and break down the numbers.

Awesome, gotta love CCP. Those graphs are indeed quite exciting to say the least, I figured the numbers would be high, but not quite that high. Plenty of PVP to be had. |

The Devblog is another example how uncompetent, stupid and arrogant(ignorant?) CCP employees are.
They are getting excited and bragging about their 0.67 ships destroyed in PVP per MONTH and account. CCP Diagoras going on in his is devblog with retarded assumptions how new subscribers are primarily the cause of increased PVP losses. Doh...I really wonder where do they hire those retards from... I only have 1 real life similar experience where the CEO of the company was so stupid and incompetent that he was intentionaly hiring same or even less competent people in mid and lower management so no one could threaten his position. |

We have many forms of pvp in Eve and pve stuff as well. This just shows that people that play eve do more than just pew pew. I also like the increase in ships destroyed from 08 to 09 that's nice.

There is no other PVP without pew-pew PVP...and for that matter, those numbers are alarmingly low. |

I acually do alot that doesnt involve pvp. Industry and trade has become my new favorite thing. Theres also missions and worm holes. You could come up with stuff like being a spy or a CEO/director. CEO's can spend there whole day jsut managing the corp if they want. |

Actually those numbers just help reinforce the reality that most EVE subscribers in fact *avoid* actual pew-pew. .7 ships destroyed per month/player? Please. We accounted for more than that just flying in the alliance tournament. I know lots of pilots who lose 4-5 ships a week, let alone per month...so each of them accounts for what ~30 other players who don't lose even one? heh.

Edit: 4-5 ships a week? what in blobs? jesus people need to grow a brain. Damn newbs dying that much is sad.

Trolling? Why? I am dead serious about that one. Losing ships is important attribute dictating the dynamics of EVE economy. As you said yourself 'think of all the people in Empire that never get killed'. Those people do not create any demand. Those numbers are damn low, they mean that 67% of the players lose 1 ship per month. That is not much of PVP... |

Originally posted by Gdemami Yet the Economy is thriving even with that number of players being blown up. I think 6 thousand ships going pop per day is more than enough to keep the market going. Just realize not everyone wants to join in on ship vs ship pvp and move on. Your trying to say Eve is a carebear game or not much of a pvp game and we all know that's bullshit. Playing: EvE, Ryzom |

I don't see how that 60% number even matters, Industrial and mission runner players don't really get killed in combatant pvp those guys are the reason the pvpers have those nice ships and fittings.

As much as people talk about the epic PvP battles, this info suggests that each person destroys a ship or has their own ship destroyed about once a month. Not very impressive really. |

So.. on average, about one in 50 subscribers lose a ship every day? I love how you just said "You lose everything in Eve" when you die. You guys generally like to call people trolls for saying that. Shouldn't you be buying ships and equipment in bulk so you always have another ship assembled and ready to go? Why wouldn't you want to get right back to the action? The reason the 60% matter is simple. You remove PvP from Eve and it is nothing. Short of the crappy agent missions that no one wants to do anyway, there isn't much to the game that doesn't directly involve PvP combat. Without the equipment loss from PvP almost every other gameplay mechanic is useless and unnecessary. There is no market without PvP, there is no need for mining, escort or transport without PvP. This IS a PvP centered game, but apparently not many people are actually engaging in PvP in Eve. I'm sure a lot of people who have played the game won't be surprised by that fact.. but the people who only hear the Evotist fanbot spin seem genuinely surprised by the low number of ships lost per subscriber. |
