If these news articles are true, and they appear to be true. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I'm not sure how many players have been waiting for a NA server, and how many will transfer from EU. However I really don't see a large population on the NA server. I can see total subscriptions for NA to be about maybe 15,000 like it is now on the EU. The thing is, I'm sure most, if not all the NA players right now playing will transfer their character. So I would guess that to be about 45% of the population moving. which would be 7200 based on 16000 players would move to NA. Now lets say for argument points that the number doubles in NA to 14,400. In EU they will have left 8800 players. Since right now there does not appear to be a huge influx of new players lets just hold that number steady. So all together there will be a total of 23,200 players. While that would be an increase over all to what they currently have. Will it be enough money coming in to sustain 2 servers? I do think this is a bad time to announce a new server though. I would think it best to fix the problems they have now, and improve the game before considering a new server. I do wish them luck though |

I'm a little cofused. I just looked at thier official site. The two articles about the release of a NA server both say for people to join them at thier official site. Is that not false advertisement. It also still says it's in beta, and no where does it direct you to anyplace you can buy the game or get an account. What's with the line: How exactly is GNi providing unparalleled network performance when the server bugs out during those large scale battles? I really don't get it. People are already complaining on the official forums that there aren't enough people in the world as is. EU1 will become a ghost town if they open a NA server.

Even if they did come out with A NA server in july I will still avoid this game until the cheating and customer service get under control. It wouldnt hurt if Tasos was gone too. Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR. |

By reading forumfall I noticed they have a lose-lose situation if they really open a NA server. If they don't add transfers, they would be breaking a promise hurting part of their playerbase, losing them probably. If they allow transfers right away, the people who want a "fresh start" will not enjoy playing along with toons with maxed skills. Maybe the best option would be to allow transfers after 2-3 months after opening the server. Not to mention the problem of an enormous evasion from EU-1 (not sure about how many people from NA are playing in EU-1 right now), leaving the players with a deserted server, devoid of PvP, the main attractive of the game. I would say it's a risky move.
But it's weird how they have not announced the news yet even in the news forum. |

Somebody clue me in as to where in NA GNi has their server farm? I thought they were a German company so that doesn't equate to a NA server. Now knowing how AV works they could start a second server and call it NA-1 and claim to have a NA server while still hosting it in Germany! Wouldn't put it past them. I would love to see it just to watch the legal battles that will ensue when some typical ambulance chasing US lawyers get their grubby hands on the website and what is falsely advertised on there. It will be a field day and the financial ruin of AV. The copyrighted guild names will bury them as companies sue them in addition to the false advertising lawsuits. Should be an interesting train wreck to watch. They will really get a dose of business reality when they have to deal with Canadian and American justice systems and laws. Holy crap, now I get it. The stage released and 4+ hour server Q's make sence now. Av didn't do a staged release cause they didn't know how many people the server could hold. They did it cause thier payment plan only allows for a specific number. They release a little at a time and pay for more and more space as they can. When they first released they overestimate how many people would log on at any given time; it's higher then they expected and so a lot of people are stuck in Q's for hours on end. A couple weeks later they can buy more space and the Q's are gone. It's got nothing to do with anything other then what Av can AFFORD AT THE TIME. Basically it just means more BS from Tasos. |

I posted in another thread that this could be a money grab for the NA players to buy another copy of the game to play on the NA Server.. We will see if they allow transfers or not. I still dont get it.. NA players with high pings playing on EU Server ( pings shouldnt be that high if their network and servers were worth a dang ) or EU players being forced to the NA server ( maybe more game purchases depending on if they do transfers or not ) and them playing with high ping ( I expect GNi to have better servers and less lag for both parties anyway ). So where is the Win here? |

You just might be on to something there Fariic. I'm going to have to do a bit of research on GNi since there is something vaguely familiar about them just not sure what but it is not a good feeling. It is like I have seen them in a different form before. EDIT: Now I remember why the bad taste, here is a little quote about the founder of Global Netoptex, Inc. (GNI) "Prior to starting GNi, Mr. Wise was responsible for field engineering teams in Europe and Asia for Enron Broadband Services. He has extensive experience in managing new network installations including strategy, design, provisioning, installation and deployment. Wise was responsible for management of vendors, customers and compliance with a wide variety of International communications standards. His experience at Enron molded his philosophy of customer and employee service and openness" Wow that last line says a mouthful LOL "If you were as smart as you think you are, you would realize that you are an idiot" |

This will make EU1 a ghost town. Interest in this niche game has all but dried up. This is not a smart move on the part of AV at all. |

Squash the hackers, release a fresh start for everyone in NA and watch the EU server die. Maybe with exploits gone and a fresh start to get rid of the players that macroed and hacked to an unfair advantage Darkfall could begin its long and tireless journey to actually being a good Open ended MMO.
