Well, after having just finished with the China open beta I gotta say Im giving up my long time game FFXI. I have been on FFXI since 2004, Easily one of the oldest players who still plays on my server. Although my college schedule prevents me from doing any end game, I have leveled many jobs to 75, as well as done much of the games story. I am willing to give all of that up for Aion.
Aion feels like an advance version of FFXI, it has style it has a stoyline, amazing lore as well as a history. It does not feel rushed in any way, it feels very polished, very well done. I am willing to give up FFXI for Aion.
Once aion comes out chances are il probably sell my FFXI account for a few hundred dollars online and use that money to pay for Aion until the next big stylish & storydriven game comes out. |

Not every Korean mmorpg is the same. To consider a game to be crap just because it comes out of Korea is simply ignorant. |

Actually, nothing. Everything I'm playing now Is free to play. Requiem, Demigod and the other games I'm just playtesting. I'll tell you what will suffer will probably be my social life if anything. LOL! That's the downside of being an MMO gamer. Ink

Nothing. People will look at it and think it's Lineage (even if unfairly so). You do understand there is a stigma attached to asian MMO's in this country (US)? That alone will keep it's numbers down. The casual fan (WoW player) never heard of it before. |

Spellborn.......I am truly sorry I subbed to that game for 3 months. Probably will keep playing LOTRO, but maybe not if Turbine keeps doing dumb things in their updates (check out the LOTRO forums and you will understand). |

I will definitely hit WoW hard if it as good as it is percieved to be. Warhammer I'm not sosure about because they have alerady lost a vast majority or people everyone that is there is there to stay I could be wrong we will have to see, But I do recall a guild in warhammer called "Waiting on Aion" |

If the trial impresses me I'll play. Haven't played a MMO for months, besides betas. |

I'm certainly interested in Aion, however, I am an mmo gamer without a home. I still play WoW though I am bored of it and I'm still there because I have a fantastic guild that I love raiding with. However I've been thinking of going back to AoC because I love the look and feel of that game but I 'm still trying to decided. I doubt I will rush out and by Aion the day it comes out, but I may. Either way it will be one of those two I will be dropping if I want to keep Aion up past the free month. |

Originally posted by VABeachDave Absolutely none. I've seen way too many launches of MMORPGs that are touted as a stupendous, exciting, ground-breaking release, and they've all turned out to be a pile of shite. I'll wait 6 months for the fanbois to stop frothing, and the trolls to get bored, and if the game is still around - and has a demo - I might give it a try. |

It is not just "hype machine", myriads of western and eastern players are playing the game. There is much more players playing AION today than Spellborn and Darkfall, you may not like it, but I am under the impression you are misinformed about AION. There is almost no marketing related to AION in the West, only players impressions. AION is much more what Warhammer should be (deeper PvE, better RvR, more impressive graphics) than a grinder.
... Hmm maybe, i was on a unofficial site like 2 years ago and people were rabid over it, and it wasn't out over there... they were "hyped" to the point to where if you hadn't been on thier boards since the day they were open you were dumb, or a noob or whatever, they were all just VERY rude, and elitist. Seems like alot of hype to me all over the net that i have seen... PLUS i just don't like the look, and i doubt the rvr is better than war's |

Once AION is released this September in the US and the EU, what other MMORPGs will you stop playing? :L |

None...although there is a good chance I'll be checking the game out at least. The game does interest me but at the same time I'm really getting sick of the hype. I won't be canceling my LotR sub but it is possible once I get to try the game out so I can decide for myself whether the game is actually good or not that I may end up playing both on a regualr basis. 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |
