No in the fact that they made the MMO industry accessable to all types of players and created a huge market for MMOs. We are seeing more and more MMOs each year but at a cost. Sooner or Later |

Mmmmm Horror, I'd love to see a Lovecraft influenced Mmo. 1920-1940's era, could go earlier, Occult based with all your European, Asian, American (south, central and north) Indian Mythology influences. You might not think it would go at first, but Edgar Allen Poe, sir Arthur Conan Doyle, H. P. Lovecraft, Heinlein, Asimov, and too many other writers from that era are still a huge influence on everything in writing, TV, and Movies still today. Why not Mmo's? Everything is laid out from networking, quests, Raiding, the whole Shebang. Blizzard lucked out with Warcraft. if any real competition had ever come up it would have died in North america by now. I loved WoW for years, will still go back to it a few months out of every year I am sure, but they never fail to disapoint me with all the things they could have put into the game, but instead they only put in just enough candy to sate my sweet tooth. I just hope they can follow thru with something worthwhile this time, and not lead me on to endless level grinding that leads to endless gear grinding, that leads me to boredom waiting for another expansion so I can do it again, lol Cheers |

The MMO genre as a whole is a running joke considering a 5+ year old game is so dominant. |

Why? If you want to blame someone for all the shitty WoW clones blame the companies for making those games. The problem with todays MMO market is the game developers don't know how to take the next step in making the next great thing. And considering Blizzards track record and experience in MMOs. They just might be the company to make a game that'll replace WoW. There are only two other companies I believe might have the potential to make a highly successful MMO. One is Bioware, and the other is Rockstar. Yes! Rockstar, if you look at the GTA series you can already see how it's build to suit the design that goes into MMOs. Plus they manage to make questing in their games interesting and fun reducing the grind factor you see in most games. Yeah, I'd prefer killing 30 pimps over 30 boars anyday...lol Anyways, hope to see what Blizzard is cooking up soon...just to know what they have in stored.

I'd rather see fewer and fewer great MMOs than the current trend of more and more crappy ones. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

I hope they pick a genre never seen before in a MMO or which is rarely done like sci-fi. I dearly hope we don't get yet another level grinding, loot grind, raid-tastic fantasy MMO. Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2. Game(s) I Am Currently Playing: GW2 (+LoL and BF3) |

When i look at all the stuff Blizzard has done,i have yet to see ONE full complete project utilizing up to date standards.Tehy have ALWAYS been known for using OLD tech and selling it off as new tech ,i expect NOTHING to change now,why would they change, many reguard them as gods. Blizzard is like a car salesman,we got you a 10k car but hey look it has all the features and is polished :D,so since it has al lthe featuyres and is polished we should be able to pan off this 10k car and market it as a lambourghini :D Overhead views, low tech graphics, cheap models, instances are the norm not the added content.Combat is copied ,quests are the exact same hum drub, but we have our subscribers fooled ,they all aclaim we are doing everything different :D,and and ya our quests are POLISHED :D No matter how cheap i feel Blizzard is ,in their productions, i still anticipate ANY new game by any developer in hopes they have grown up and can stand on their own two feet and deliver a product worthy of innovation and effort.Although i have extreme doubt in Blizzard's abilities to deliver innovation or anything unique,i will still withhold judgement until the product is finalized. One thing i have got my eye on is the TIMING of Blizzards new game.SOE we know is the developer Blizzard likes to follow rather than lead and so happens SOE followed a new strategy in making a [so called Free Realms game].Perhaps Blizzard is once again following in SOE 's footsteps?just a thought,i am not totally sold they are that lame ..YET.Just ask yourself what other ideas have come about recently and then remember it and see if Blizzard once again copies other developers brilliance[i fully expect it actually]. The idea behind the game HAS to be low tech as they will no doubt re use that ancient cheap gaming engine, because we would have heard of any liscensing deals and there has been none.Blizzard with all their money have yet to develop ANYTHING close to a decent game engine,i mean EPIC has 70 employees and is years ahead of Blizzard ,,sad really. Simple guess?cartoon graphics, perhaps a free realms type game or they will rehash one of their own games .I know they recently bought some cheap old game ,i can't remeber the name of it ?leisure suit larry or redneck rampage, something like that. There is a VERY good reason a developer buys the rights to a game and it is not to play the game lol, they have plans for it so don't be surprised if it is related to the purchse. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

60% market share in an overdone genre is remarkable whether you like it or not negative nancy. As for the rest fo their games I don't care what technology they use as long as graphics start out up to date and the game play is as amazing as it always is in Blizzard games. Other games might go deeper in some areas of play but they alwasy suck at the basics and thus fail. When other developers stop sucking you can talk about how bad blizzard is. |

CCP bought Whitewolf, the mega-huge RPG publisher, creators and owners of The World of Darkness (vampire the masquerade, hunter, etc.). Why would they do this? Well they now own a huge publishing company, so that's always good to have. More importantly they own World of Darkness and have started working on creating basically World of Darkness Online. I believe they have made some statements that they are in the planning stages or have started work, could be wrong though heh. If it's true then I think we'll be in for the ultimate Zombie/Vamp/Werewolf/whatever game. Just have to wait for some info to be released on it. Oh and Blizz isn't the only bunch keeping things hush hush on a new mmo. Squaresoft has something new in the works too, same secrecy as Blizz's project. |

They need a game combo of Diablo mob killing, AoC siege(asumeing it works) and WoW PvE with Ultima Online PvP. All MMO's have grinds. If you don't like to Grind then MMO's are not for you. |

Yes, it's true that CCP has been working on a WoD MMO. This has been in the works for quite some time now.
As for the new Blizz mmo, I'm curious as to what they come up with. I can't deny that I played WoW for years. Regardless of what others say about the game, I loved the pre BC WoW experience and many others are still enjoying their time in the game. In Soviet Russia, you violate RealID's privacy. |

I always thought Blizzard was smart for making their games have low system requirements. Believe it or not, lots of people have crappy gaming PCs or macs but despite this handicap still wish to casually play games. Blizzard, unlike many of their competitors, makes a product this demigraphic can actually use. I'm not advocating everyone should do the same, personally I love playing a game like Fallout3 at max settings and being blown away by visuals. Also, Requiem - for the horror MMO discussion. |

what would be that reason? im 100% positive that Blizzard said that for every game they released. We'r talking about a company that considers changing the art concepts 15% and renaming the races a new IP.
