Yeah, what are we talking about, 50, to 100 people leaving a server?  Happens all the time, no big deal.

Every game comes to an end, it was just this guild's time.

I tried to RP as well when I played for amonth, no one iin AoC cares about RP, they jjust want to see naked characters and be the uber elite pwner. IT is boring combination for game mechanics..

Many of you may have noticed over the last two months that two things have happened. One, my play time has drastically decreased and two, that we as a guild have largely stopped recruiting. This was due to the decision on my part to stop recruitment in a possible move to end up shutting down the guild. For myself, as well as most of the officer core this game simply does not support role-play in a manner which we find acceptable. We have given Funcom fifteen months (starting on January 21st of 2008) to communicate, speak with, and support the role-play community. We have seen limited to no changes in this time. We have seen the careless destruction of a RP-PVP server, we have seen the lack of incentives for role-players and the continued attempts to “throw bones” to keep us sated while quietly shrugging off the real issues.

You will have no doubt seen a drastic decline of D&D’s membership over the last 2 months. Many of my personal friends have left the guild and left the game. Despite this, the decision was not an easy one to make. Some of D&D will stay with this game, but the majority will not. The majority have already left in this last month or are in the process of doing so now.
I am proud to say that I have led one of the most successful role-playing guilds on Age of Conan for 15 months. We always maintained our standards, our member base and whenever we were interested in pursuing something (Such as raiding, or Battlekeeps) we were successful until such a time as we decided we were done.

I would like to thank all D&D members past and present for being a part of the journey that was our guild. I know that D&D will always be a part of Cimmeria, we are a part of its rich and diverse history and I know that in role-play Sinreth and what it was to the community will not soon be forgotten (whether ill or good).

Those of us in D&D’s officer core would like to thank everyone who made our experience on Cimmeria fun, and to wish luck to those who would continue to try and maintain and foster this community. Perhaps someday we will be back, but for now it is off to greener pastures for us. We will always remember the Cimmeria that we loved, but for many of us it simply is not the same anymore.

now first off i don't like rp and d&d was one of the most sad guilds around but this shows that aoc is about to die when a die hard rper guild leaves the game

I personally NEVER understood why the only official RP servers were PvP servers....

I mean DAoC had RP servers that like any other server had frontiers and battle grounds... but they didn't make "The Dreds" the RP servers... 

An assassin appears from the shadows before you.  They inform you that they are about to one shot you...  *please wait for them to re stealth*

I would also admit I'm suprised that any "RP" guild actually survived on AoC's RP-PvP servers that long.  Or is it server after the mergers I dunno if there is more than one now.

To be honest I don't see that as indicative of a game dying if a major role play guild leaves. All that shows me is that a game was not very condusive to what the role play community (or at least a portion of it) wanted.

IMHO i think AoC is about to take off with the imminent release of 1.05 and with how smooth the game runs now, there is a trial and an expansion in the works as well.

You know, people said the same thing about the 'big' pvp patch last September.  All summer, all the fans ever talked about was how awesome the pvp system would make the game.  Guess what, it came and went and barely impacted the 'fun' level of the game.  Players continued to quit just as fast as they did before the 'big' pvp patch.

1.05 is going to be the same thing.   Who cares if stats are now going to be more meaningful (and the game is wowized) if the same crappy dungeons and same crappy gameplay is the only way to get that gear.  Yeah, they are changing gear and stats, but the amount of actual new content is very small compared to real MMORPGs that have actual content patches.

To the OP:   When a developer uses 'nudity' as one of the biggest reasons to play a game, then odds are it won't go out of it's way to facilitate RP... they just were not shooting for that type of crowd.

I think you have it backwards, The game is screwed so everyone left.

 I guess that means SWG died when all those guilds left to go play WOW when it released, wait it died when all those guilds left due to the CU. No it died when all those guilds left due to the NGE... oh wait...

Anyway a single guild leaving no matter how large really won't have a lasting affect on a game, even when it's multiple large guilds leaving. It sucks that it has to happen but it's also unavoidable. You can only play a single game for so long, especially when the mechanics/enforcement don't necassarily match your playstyle.

I quit AoC recently, but only because pvp wasnt hardcore enough to me and i hate their combat system. But this game is otherwise fantastic. I bet any money it will never die, its just too good.

One guild is leaving one server... so what, other servers remain unaffected.

AoC ftw, i wish best luck to this promising and man, so good looking game.

wow what an achievment.

Maybe he's role-playing being someone who could potentially make a game fail by withdrawing his support.

Role play on Wiccana server, Cimmeria should have the RP removed as any new players that go there wil experience the overwhelming stupidity that is the Cimmeria server.

Doesn't matter if some of D&D leave, there is plenty of RP events going on. The reasons why some of them are going is fair.

At the end of the day, for those really into RP, you will find a lot of things going on in Cimmeria besides. Just like it always has been.

Whether guild only RP or open invitational events. Thats why there is the Calendar feature ;)

Starting a thread to discuss why you left and also to note other large groups of players leaving is called a "discussion".

I'd suggest a simple refresher course in remedial English to go with that "Masters in economics" you claim to have so such a misunderstanding doesn't occur again.
