I'd urge all of you who have had station accounts in the past to go and see if you are a subscriber of FreeRealms. I checked mine (looking for a SWG vet trial activation) and discovered I'm 'playing' FreeRealms. I reported this on other boards in cyberspace and others after checking have discovered the same thing.

Now, I personally don't care if they send me an email saying they've activated my account to make it easier for me to log in and give it a go, but that's not what they're doing here. This is sleazy (as per SOE usual).

This is padding the numbers to convince people that 'everyone is playing FreeRealms'.

Not cool.

Someone asked this on the FR forums, and Pex said only those who have logged into the game and played are counted in that total.  Station Access accounts are member accounts, but unless they have logged in, they don't count for the total registered accounts.

Or what the person above me said. 

Wow....SoE is smarter than I thought.  Giving all station accounts Free Realms in order to "pad" their numbers....ingenius.  I would gather that many other companies wished they could do this with their games.  I'm actually surprised....great business move by SoE.

On the other hand, this only gives more ammunition to those that don't trust SoE.  I don't think anything illegal was done.  Just something a bit sneaky.

I don't frequent the FR boards, so I would not know of any statement to refute my statement other than what the second and third posters replied with.

Quite honestly, I would LOVE to be paid for bashing SOE (if there is somebody reading this who is willing to pay me for it please send me a PM and we'll talk).

Huh, I just checked my SOE account and it has me listed as an active member of Free Realms as well.  That 1 million number doesn't seem so special now.

More power to them, pad the numbers all they want.  Not that it makes an ounce of difference anyway.

Yea your account is "active" but it is not counted.  You have to have a charater created to be counted.  But keep hating on SOE as I am sure they are the only compane that pads their numbers.

Yes facts where is your proof again? show us proof that SOE is counting more than those that logged in and created a character in that 1 mil and you will have credibility.  If you can't you are just a sad waste who is throwing a tantrum because SOE broke your Wookiee, as well as a lair.

Whoa, back off the nerd rage kid before you hurt yourself.  Who said I'm a SOE hater?  I'm still a proud subscriber of SWG even after the NGE, and also looking forward to both DCUO and The Agency.  All I did was confirm that my account was also flagged as active, even though I never played the game.  If my chidren were under the age of 10, I would probably even have a subscription to this Free Realms.  So i'm not sure how that makes me a hater of your "compane".

They're giving it to everyone.  You also have to actually join those million players and create a character for Free Realms to get it.

Whether or not they are counting in various sources, the real issue with these numbers will be:

1. If one million free customers will recomp SOE's costs for development and the incredible amount that they are spending in PR on this thing. Factoring in commercials on Cartoon Network and all of the advertising on game mags and websites - it ought to be a pretty penny.

2. If the one million registrants stay long. As it is marketed to a younger audience, that number will fluctuate wildly as previous history and data shows that they bounce around alot.

Time will tell of course.

So many things to troll about, you had to really talk about account numbers on a free-to-play game?

Well that is a very good point. I know here in NY you can not find station Cash Cards or the FR TCG decks or booster packs, they have both been sold out since they hit the store and certain Non digitized FR cards are going for an insane amount. But SOE did invest a significant sum in the devlopment of FR and if folks only play the free part it will be a huge loss. Still it looks liek SOE is off to a good start.

hehe ohhh myy long weekend gives people time to create new fiction despite what is written in black and white.  

Its interesting how this forum has suddnely exploded in a flury on a monday which is a long weekend for many in north america.  

I will point out what has already pointed out though

1) its been confirmed that inactive station accounts are not being counted only active ones where people actually created a character

2) free games dont usually die no matter how hard you want it to die

3) its receiving massive amounts of siphoned traffic and the number of servers at prime time goes up, does not remain the same and traffic rises .

okay well i'm going back to my planting now.   I guess the SWG vets forum isn't gamey enough today to keep them occurpied there so got to come and post fiction here to try to stir people up.
