I played this game when it came out and a year after it came out, there were so many bugs and glitches, the animation definately did not feel fluid and felt sticky and clunky. The graphics are overrated and feel like clay lifeless models. the dungeons and bland and they also feel like you are not advancing. like dungeons in other mmos felt like you were going futher and deeper and saw different things as you delve in deeper.
This game does not have that, even the enemies and bosses are bland so is the loot. There is really no reason to even do dungeons. In other games you can do dungeons to get better loot for that level and get good exp, in vanguard dungeons yea you can aquire exp but you get it faster if you solo, the gear is half assed and does not even scale.
it took them two years + to put in one end game raid dungeon into the game. The population is extremely low and thats being gracious as well. The servers should be labled grave yard rather than low. Vanguard is the type of game that needs a good population to enjoy, nothing like walking for a very long time and not seeing another player insight.
One positive thing about the game is that the world is indeed very huge, huge but empty.
I also played the trial isle of the game it is nothing like what you will see after the isle. It is a gimmick to get you into their sheety game.
Do your self a favor stay far away from this game, even if it was free 2 play. save your PC the harddrive space.
This game only has one use, using the CD as a coaster for my drinks.

If you gather a couple of friends, lets say 3 / 4, you can pretty much do everything in the game, up til 50, and its really fun! Just don't choose to play as a bird shaman with full healing gear from CW, that made me quit the game :*( & none of my friends are playing VG :/ |

I like the game but at least you tried it and came to your own conclusion. I disagree with your comments on the graphics and the loot though. I feel the graphics are some of the best in recent mmo's if you have a rig that can run the game in higher settings. Did you have to run the graphic settings on low to get better performance maybe? As far as loot goes, I kinda understand what you mean about the loot not scaling properly when you look at the item level compared to your own level, but it is definitely not bland. Then as far as getting better loot from dungeons goes I haven't had that problem. I've gotten decent loot from dungeons. Maybe since item drops are somewhat random, your just not getting the luck of the draw. Also, do you take quest to do these dungeons? Usually the quest giver has nice loot rewards for completing the missions in those dungeons.
Your right about populations, it would be more fun with a lot more people running around, but I have seen a slowly increasing population. Even after all this though I still wouldn't be making a post like yours suggesting to stay away from the game. You've made your decision not to play it, and you listed your reasons, but what's wrong with telling people to try the free trial and make their own decision instead of saying "stay away from it". This posts just seems like you want to see the game fail and shut down. Maybe I should make a post saying stay away from WoW because it's crap. I do feel that way about WoW but I don't go making posts about it for everyone to read. |

VG is fun, as long as one is not looking for ' break-through' gameplay. In that aspect, VG doesn't veer away from the traditional EQ/WoW recipe. The size of the world and the PvE content available is amazing, nonetheless, and worth giving it a try if only just for that. |

Fixed that for ya...seems that you forgot to mention your uberness in deciding what others should and should not play. VG is a decent game. Has lots to do, with the typical grind and bland level up system. But at least it has a decent sized world. Different skills and races to play and you can go where-ever you want. You don't need to wait untill NPC X gives you a quest to go from area A to B, you just go there. Graphics aren't anything spectacular...but no worse off then LoTR or WoW or any other game that came out over the past few years. AoC has the best graphics...but feels alot like GW with all of it's instancing. I have played the game for a while, and now am running the free trial. I don't know what major differences you speak of. My experiences, the trial island runs and plays pretty much the same as the rest of the game.\ Besides...14 day free trial. People can try it and choose for themselves. Seems to me, Sneakers is just on a personal crusade to put this game down. Really, if ya don't like it, don't play it. No use on making dozens of posts and going outta your way to insult the game. |

I played this game when it came out and a year after it came out, there were so many bugs and glitches........ I agree the game was insanely bad when it first came out but VG has came a long way since then. the animation definately did not feel fluid and felt sticky and clunky. The graphics are overrated and feel like clay lifeless models... I am not sure what you play the game on but I have everything maxed out and the game is beautiful, but I know there are alot of people who prefer graphics like in WOW. Animation is a little clunky, I will agree with you there. The best loot I ever get is played made. I am not sure where you got your info on soloing being faster for xp but I lvl atleast 3x times faster in a grp than by soloing. It seems to me that you need to stick with wow where everything is handed to you. Vanguard is alot more challenging and doesnt' hold your hand the whole way like Wow does. Maybe you just need to find another game that suits you better. it took them two years + to put in one end game raid dungeon into the game. The population is extremely low and thats being gracious as well. The servers should be labled grave yard rather than low. Vanguard is the type of game that needs a good population to enjoy, nothing like walking for a very long time and not seeing another player insight. This game just isn't your cup of tea, I love the fact that I am not running into somebody every few feet, it actually makes me feel like I am a part of the world instead of just a little spec of dust getting blown into the wind. I never have trouble putting together grps or raids but I do know that is a concern for alot of people.
Also if the game is running clunky and hitching alot to you try switching to vista 64 or windows 7. I did that a few days ago, added 8 gigs of ram to my computer and I never hitch anymore. I do hope you find an mmo that you are looking for. |

I have to agree with this. To me and the way I play, it is an explorer's game. I DON'T want to see gobs of people running around in the wilderness. However, this game will appeal to a smaller group of people. As I've stated before, you really need to go into this game with a more forgiving attitude. The glitches and bugs are a lot better than launch. Having said that, there are still issues that sometimes contribute to a creaky game play experience. The world is beautiful but it's not consistent. The characters do have a plasticky, stiff feeling and I am always surprised when I move and can actually see some fluidity. The chunking I get is very minor and I don't really notice it anymore. But this game does offer a bit of a different gameplay experience than WoW and LOTRO. That is why I keep the subscription. The OP is not off when he says the Trial Islan offers a different experience though. First of all there seem to always be people there. Everything is more condensed so that you will see people running all over the place. Once you get out into the world everything is so open and huge that I can see people used to the trial island getting a bit lost. My thought is that I don't go to Vanguard saying "ok, entertain me". I go knowing what type of entertainment I want and knowing that I will get that specific gameplay in Vanguard. And that works for me. |
