He's became a very, VERY sycophantic fankiddie, and an obvious shill. He's claimed to "have the ear of the developers" which, to me, suggests that he's doing nothing more than working the propaganda machine in order to get more subs for the game, and to feed Tasos' hunger for fankiddism. I mean, if he doesn't get removed, at least give a disclaimer that the information is probably extremely heavily biased TOWARDS Darkfall, because - I don't know about you - but I don't find the fact that new players may be convinced by heavy handed pro-Darkfall crap, just because it seems to be official and on the front page. TL;DR:

I have Darkfall now! |

But why follow and read everything about a game you are not interested in? Write your own blogs instead of telling others to stop with thiers! |

I kind of hate to say, but... I do agree. Sort of. Paragus is a great writer, no doubt about it at all. I enjoy reading the words he makes. But lately there's calls about him being made "press", and this bothers me. He is not objective and unbiased. I've not yet seen any negative things whatsoever detailed in his blog. He goes to enormous lengths about game mechanics and things, but despite admitting some small issues, he never goes into detail on any of it. And I do hate to seem negative to the guy. In truth, I think an official Darkfall blog written by him would bring in a lot of folks not sure if they want to play it or not. I think he's a great asset to the community; rather than bad-mouthing a lot of other folks and games, he positively supports the one he actually likes on its own merits. But having him spotlighted as a Darkfall-only blog these days seems unfair. He's not talking about MMOs in general anymore. If he starts doing so again, even I would like to see what he has to say. But lately, I've been asking why I'm reading something only giving me the good and shiny on a game that is known to still have some issues. If he can only get his exclusive knowledge of the game by staying "friendly" towards its staff, I have to ask when the line is crossed between being independant journalism and freelance shilling. I'm sure his fans disagree with me, and many will probably take time to express their opinion on this matter in colorful ways. But whatever. I'm just saying I for one would like to see him take some time to look at other stuff in the MMO industry and comment on it. Doesn't have to be other games; any topic, from thoughts on pay-2-play versus microtransactions to how to minimize latency or otherwise speed up general performance, would probably read like a dream. |

It's his fucking blog. He isn't a staff writer. It's not suppose to be objective journalism, it's a man and his experiences, written down. Nice trolling btw. |

Bloggs are usually on based on subjects the writer is interested in and enjoys so they will always contain a bias.
Not many people (if any) that focus on the negatives of darkfall are going to want to stay subscribed to the game or write a regular blogg.

I have to disagree. I actually like his blogs even though I hate the game and company behind it. You could always counter his blogs by pointing out things like... They have falsely advertised thier game. He's a fan of the game. |

So we've run out of things about the game that are considered troll worthy and have now moved onto people who post PERSONAL BLOGS about the game. How fucking sad must your life actually be. Wait!!!! I've found an alternative, DON'T READ IT. After 2 seconds of doing so it's obvious to a lobotomised platypus that his blog is for people who are interested in ACTUALLY PLAYING the game not bashing on it. ----- |

He's a shill. Probably gets paid by Darkfail developers. The things he posts are, in effect, advertising spam, and if Darkfail want those on this website they should be paying for the advertising, innit? {mod edit} The one and only. |

How sad can you be? It seems there isn't an actual limit after reading the OP's rant on a personal BLOG. Did you play the game yourself? No? Then shut yer trap and get out or give us a point by point analysis on why you think he's lying to us all and giving such biased information. Paragus has done an excellent job in relaying his experiences towards this community with in depth information, interviews, maps and whatnot. He should be applauded for his efforts regardless whether it concerns a game which you happen to hate or not. If YOU dislike a game you are free to say so and why but what you are suggesting is an almost Nazi-like or communist censoring of someone else's opinion because the opinion given doesn't match your own. What makes you think readers can't think for themselves, {mod edit}? And what makes you think everyone should think alike and feel the same? Seriously, gtfo. |

"Opinions are like a$$holes , everyone's got one" ...........and i stand by it. The fact that i might not agree with or not like many things Paragus is currently writting and will write in his blogs doesn't mean that he shouldn't be writting them. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion me, you and even Paragus strange as it might seem to you, especially over the internet which IMO is the last place in this world where someone can speak his mind freely........ Iiii-iiiiiit's.... me!!! *Hooray* |

No, you are wrong. Don't you understand this website is funded through advertising from game companies?? Do you really think it is appropriate that the company can get free advertising through the back door by planting a "blogger" in the game community who posts constant advertisement articles about the game [hypothetically]. This is, essentially, spam and it undercuts MMORPGs bottom line. I'm not saying this is definitely the case with Paragus, I'm just saying it APPEARS to be the case, not just to me, but from this thread you can see that many people have noticed the same thing. It does not appear to be personal blogging, it appears to be advertisement spam from the game's developers, essentially what you would expect to see on the developer's own website if they actually had an active website that had been updated in the last few months.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS that whether Paragus is actually a shill or just acting exactly like a shill in character, the net effect is the same, any game developer with half a brain will see this and understand it is good advertising strategy to plant "community bloggers" on some of the big websites like this one then they can get free advertising without having to pay for it. If it is essentially the same as free advertising, whether Paragus is getting paid or is simply a dupe becomes a moot point.
That's the argument being made here, in my opinion. Obviously many of the community members here have a lot of love and respect for this site and they don't like to see it tarnished by blogger "shills" which undercut what is supposed to be a community of honest gamers giving their thoughts and perspectives without regard to, for example, paychecks they might be getting from the game developers, which I'm not saying is the case with Paragus, I'm just saying if a game developer was paying someone to shill for them I would expect to see pretty much what Paragus is doing in his blog, so whether he is actually getting paid by them or not it amounts to the same thing, "shill" in practice or in effect. And it taints the community. The one and only. |
