Post your reasons as to why this will not be like your favorite SWG Pre-CU. -no dual classes -no creature handler -Jedi will not be rare -no player owned cities -player housing? -player owned shops -player owned vendors -player bases -space combat? edit: I would like to see game elements that allow for a living, breathing virtual world. There is more to SWs than 24/7 combat. Like in the real world, people eat, drink, buy, sell, they build things, they fix things, they collect things, they dance, they mingle, they party, they form relationships, they have a home, a place to work, etc. That was the most successful part of SWG Pre-CU and I would like to see that in TOR. Not just another "fight til you get bored and get all your lootz". |

Post your reasons as to why this will not be like your favorite SWG Pre-CU. -no dual classes - Why do you need to be more than 1 thing? -no creature handler - Go buy a dog. -Jedi will not be rare - They aren't suppose to be rare. This is Knights of the Old Republic time frame. -no player owned cities - Yeah like we really need 20 miles of silos and empty buildings scarring up the game world. -player housing? - WHY do you need this? Even in games that have it, it is just a novel idea. -player owned shops - Noone cares. -player owned vendors - Noone cares, this particular one isn't even wanted or needed.... Ragnarok anyone? (shivers) -player bases - Might be ok, this one I will say would be cool, if guilds could own a starbase or something. -space combat? - Don't really need it, or care. |

Yeah you didn't get the memo? Ten people who speak make more noise than ten thousand who are silent. |

Originally posted by jadonc Nobody ever claimed this would be a sequel to/replacement for SWG. Probably because even when it was a decent game, SWG still wasn't Star Wars, it was just a fairly good sandbox game with a Star Wars graphical skin. From a Star Wars perspective, the dual class thing is irrelevant since, well, there weren't any major characters who could be accurately described as "dual class," except maybe Luke. The creature handler was never a Star Wars thing. In all of the movies there was what, one character who could be considered a creature handler? The fat guy who cried when his rancor got killed. As for Jedi, given the time period of the game, there is no *reason* for them to be rare. As for all the player owned stuff, so what? Nobody has attempted to market this as a sandbox game, so a lack of sandbox features really isn't relevant. Though on the player housing issue there is a possibility that we will get customizable player ships that serve as houses. On the space combat thing, it would be nice, but can wait for an expansion, as it is a completely seperate gameplay experience from the ground game. Also, SWG didn't even have space combat until after they had already broken the ground game. Peace is a lie, there is only passion. |

How do you know any of those statements are true? BioWare is still developing the damn game and is releasing very little. Just let it go. Pre-CU is gone, dead. If you want pre-CU SWG, go support the work on the emu. Who cares if TOR isn't like SWG? I mean really, who cares? |

That can be changed -player housing? - WHY do you need this? Even in games that have it, it is just a novel idea. It's a plus to have it -player owned shops - Noone cares. MANY care about this, it's called "player ran economy" -player owned vendors - Noone cares, this particular one isn't even wanted or needed.... Ragnarok anyone? (shivers) Ya I can agree kind of -player bases - Might be ok, this one I will say would be cool, if guilds could own a starbase or something. Yup -space combat? - Don't really need it, or care. Ya it doesn't exactly need this

Argh!!!!!! Who said it would be?!?!!??! Can we lock these threads or something, it isnt '' Star wars, back to galaxies!'' Its the old republic, they-are-not-the-same-game, it hardly has enough information out to make judgements, not even a release date, stop moaning, stop looking back, swg pre cu is gone, this is coming, live with it.. |

I honstly doubt I will play it, because I see it failing before it even gets a fair shot due to the SWG Vet crowd. But I wish it well as we need another solid game to play besides wow. |

Hah! Bwahahaha. Yeah. People posting on a forum will make a game fail. Definitely logical. |

I REALLY won't be able to stand them when I have to pay 15 a month to listen to a QQ fest. |

Right, im gonna ask a question, why can we not just sit here and atleast wait until the game even has a release date and the information to make a well informed judgement instead of this stupid abuse trying to get the games subscribers depressed, were going to play it whatever you say, if we want to, we can, if you dont want to, dont. |

-no dual classes - Nope, no TKM dancing Doctors, though I’m sure you can dance in the cantina, heal, and beat the crap out of someone in the game with you fist, you just can’t run around with a title stating that you do can, since no one but you would care. -no creature handler- I’m not sure there is a need to handle creatures in TOR unless they are a mount, go play Spore. -Jedi will not be rare – Why would they be? Question is, what classes look more fun then Jedi? I already see 2.Was Jedi rare in SWG? As rare as Holocron drops at one time xD -no player owned cities – neat, but pointless since most were empty ghost towns on planets that should have no cities other than the NPC ones. Tatootine was supposed to be a vast desert, minus ghost towns. -player housing? – Why? So they can clutter up the landscape, cause lag and block points of interest, and over all not fit in? Yeah it’s great rolling out to the Sarlac only to pass by a house that says “SOE SUXMEHBALLZAC” Or one with a sign titled aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh.lloooooooooooongestt.signiiiin.theee.wooooooooooooooorld!!!! -player owned shops - pointless way to make someone have to drive to BFE to dig through messy un organized vendors and over pay for something just because the person selling it is greedy. -player owned vendors – Players never really owned them, just borrowed them, I imagine there will be a much cooler way to trade goods in TOR. So I doubt you'll see a Twi'lek vendor in hawt pants that says "me love u long time" everytime someone walks through the door. -player bases – Bases in SWG were pointless and stupid anyways. Out of all the guilds I was in while I played on Bloodfin Bases were no more than a pain in the ass, the upkeep, the constant need to protect from an enemy who never showed up when you would rather be doing other things. The bugged factional detectors, all of it, lame. SWG never really did anything really well, it was all broken in some way which allowed players to exploit, this was why players thought this broke shit was fun. -space combat? – If it is in TOR I imagine it will be done much better than SWG since the Hero engine has the ability to stream instances (like space), unlike in SWG you could launch from a ground base and fly straight into space seamlessly with no loading screen at all. |

Stop living vicariously through other people, then. Their $15 a month is just as good as yours. They reserve the right to suggest the way they think a game should move, too. Seems that you can't accept that people have different preferences than you. Saying you can't stand someone just because they don't enjoy something the same way you do? Pfft. |
