L2 is a grind fest and does alright in the US.....i dont think Aion is going to bring anything new to the table. Just my opinion, but i may be wrong, we will see. |

Unless u want to play the chinese or korean version, wait and see. NC West is localising it and rumours are, they are adding a lot more. So the NA release might be a totally new beast. Till then your guess or mine. |

Im looking forward to to the NA release, hopefully it will change everyones negative opinions. Hopefully. |

Yes, because NCSoft is smart enough to compete with it's own game. It already has a grindfest game, why would they need another? What they needed was something more casual, to compete with WoW, thats what Aion is. |

First, I can't believe ANYONE that has played Aion (I am currently playing) can call it a grindfest. I don't believe WoW was a grind and if you feel the same then you will love Aion because its like WoW with quests for xp but it goes a little extra. I get xp for crafting all day or for every piece of mineral I gather while in the field, I don't struggle to lvl at all. The quests are coherent, fun and many time challenging depending on your lvl, class, equipment etc. In FFXI when you died you lost xp, in this game when you die you don't really "lose" xp as it may apear because that xp can be bought back from a "soul healer" for chump change. So if I die 3 times I wait until it's time to advance to the next area, visit a soul healer and get all that xp back and sometimes that makes me lvl if I'm close tnl. I have never played a game that gave xp for crafting and gathering simultanously as I quest and do missions. To me I feel spoiled. I bet if I honestly wanted to I could hit 10 lvls with ease if I actually "grind". I'm not a grinder anymore so I won't do that I just enjoy the game. I think it will do extremely well over here in N/A. I can't wait. |

You don't get all of the xp you lost back from the soul healing. ![]() |

I figured it was 100% return because of the explanation the soul healers give you when you interact with them. Now I'll have to go check this out because I'm curious. I remeber I died once at lvl 21 and the soul healer gave me back over 21,000 xp. I don't care if that was'nt 100% because I would rather get that back than not getting anything at all. This is good to know though, more incentive to fight for you life lol |

Think thegrind is more defined now with this thread, it is probably take an average player 3 months to get to max, and then they will be able to enjoy the the game end content. With a world designed like it is, makes me curious how fututer expansions will play out, will they eventually go into space and find new planets ? The tax system is not fairly new cause they have that in L2 , when someone owns a city keep , and Aden being or use to being the main tax keep. The new thing for NcSoft and this game is the territory control, and that is the most interesting thing I've read, think if more people would write about that, it would perk more interest towards players who are looking for a pvp typegame with solid endgame mateerial. If they didn't do a sub fee like in Korea, I would probably try the game.. |

Actually it seems recently they've been trying a lot of their ideas for Aion out in Lineage 2. Crossing over ideas, which is great. In L2 they have Fortresses now which are siegable every 3 days, which cover control over smaller areas and do not accumulate tax. They give clan benefits and rewards and there are more of them. The same goes with the Kamael playable race added to Lineage 2, a lot of their style looks Aionish, and out of place in the Lineage 2 world, that and they can fly. Future expansions will probably focus on the Abyss and the PvP content and adding raids and quest content to satisfy PvPers. They've already added content in Korea. If you don't want topay subs, then play in China? Its pay per hour and $15 gives you 300 hours which isn't too bad, and no box price. Problem is, it's China, more lag and less people you understand. The endgame doesn't start at max level, or 50. It starts at 25. You can enter the abyss then and start PvPing. Hell I have a level 22 Sorcerer and I already have a PvP point. |

In that case, can you tell what leve your attacker is at? Or the person you are attacking? Or is it like Lineage 2 where you can't really tell? |

The only way to tell the lvl of the player is by his weapon or the buffs he has on. Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

I had to ask one of our lvl 35s what lvl they were. They were tearing through the place killing us until help arrived. So I guess it's kind of like WoW because he was able to tell me what lvl they were because he was closer to their lvls, whereas I was only 21 so it did'nt register for me. This is only a guess but I can't see any other explanation how he knew the lvls.
Edit: I posted late, the explanation above may be true, this is another thing I have to find out for sure. |

I don't want to play a game that is slightly altered for a certain region, I would rather and wait to see what the NA/EU version is like. If the PVP is balanced and the games terrority control areas work, then it has some good news to bring, but those elemts aren't knew to the mmorpg genre. I guess people are to busy lliving and dying by one opinion, I don't post that way, I like to read and then reavaluate my self and maybe look at things at a different perspective, a lot posters should try that, and maybe the conversation can go on with out so many blocked users :) |
