Hey all!

I'm a guy who has played wow since 2004 and I just quit because it was such a huge timesink if I wanted to have fun at the endgame. I was in a top raiding guild but the time that I had to put into my game to have fun and raid was really interfering with my personal life. I have played WAR quite a bit but I didn't get to the endgame to see how it is. Is it a huge timesink like wow is?

I never play WoW, however, I don't find it fun at endgame.

Most of your time is wait.  Waiting for BO count down for the RR, waiting for fortress count down for the crest.

Some people might think it is fun when your warband rolls on the opposition side (100 vs 30), but I don't call that fun.

Not only it is a timesink, it is a mind-numbingly boring time sink.  If you like to endlessly raid generic keeps, then do some more PvE in the opponents city in the search of the next tier of gear that will enable you to compete with the next generic boss, then give it a try.

Oh, did I mention the horrendous lag?

I would say however, that the Endgame is not as exclusionary as WoW. For WoW end game raids meant you needed to be in a hard core guild. WAR is a lot more casual friendly. Good or bad, you arnt as dependent on a guild as you are with WoW

Money in politics is the root of all political evil. It is corruption at it's worst.

WARs endgame is by far the worst part of the game. It is a timesink and it is also very boring. The first part is mostly about zerging and locking down zones, fortress etc. Then it turns into a boring PvE questing grind wich ends with a select few that gets the "privelige" to fight the King which is extremely boring, I heard (never reached there). Basically it can one or two shot anyone, including tanks, so the only way to kill him is to kite him.

But that isn't the worst part, if you do manage to kill the King then you just get some loot and a temporary buff and that is pretty much it. And the losing side, who just lost their capital and King, is not affected much. Lose some exp bonus, access to some quests and the bank and that is pretty much it. Pathetic really.

If Mythic does not make a complete overhaul of this so called end-game then this game will never be a success even though the lower and mid levels are a blast.

Yup, i still say T1.. is the best part of this game :D

But at T4/End game.... it's a fricken headache. CC Hell, Lag Hell, Waste of Time Hell (IE waiting for ton of different caps). Scenario hell (better have premades!), PvE hell, Mythic hell..................... hell hell hell hell hell ETC.

They are overhauling the ward system at least.  Should allow you to progress through some of the content without having to endlessly run the same dungeon hoping for that lucky drop for armor set pieces.  Ofcourse, this just means you can get to some of the other not so great end-game.  I'm sticking with it for now as I'm still having a blast in rvr with my guildies.  I do hope the overhaul the city siege though.  Last time it opened up we didn't even bother to go and did some alt leveling instead :(

New Sigil System
The Armor Ward system has been replaced with a new achievement-based system called Sigils. Each Sigil represents a Ward that was previously awarded through the acquisition and equipping of armor sets found in the Old World Armory. The purpose of the Sigil system is to allow players to get the benefit of the Wards previously associated with the armor sets without being required to wear and use that armor set. It also allows for new methods of receiving the Ward and progressing through the game without collecting armor sets.
The new Sigil system can be viewed and tracked in the Old World Armory section of the Tome of Knowledge. Clicking on any Sigil loads a page that displays the fragments needed to complete the Sigil, and describes the tasks associated with each fragment of the Sigil. For any given fragment, only one task of those presented will need to be done. You can see the tasks associated with each fragment by clicking on the fragment icon on the left side of the screen. Also, obtaining a fragment of a higher level Sigil will unlock the fragment for any lower level Sigils. Any players who have current armor or sets that would fulfill a fragment task for any Sigil fragment will be granted credit for the fragment task upon first logging in on that character. Once unlocked, a fragment is unlocked; completing multiple fragment tasks for any particular task will not grant any additional bonus.

EDIT: I skipped around and was reading something else and this guy's critique was about spot on. If you want to know about endgame, it can't be said any better than this:

City sieges are probably the biggest disappointment for many players.

To get there you must capture 2 fortresses. Often zones are capture through domination (your side must control all BOs and keeps and claim the keeps in the zone and hold them for 2 hours... BOs must be held for 30 minutes). To take a fort, you generally have to flip a zone then the next zone and then the fort. So you generally must take 4 zones to get those 2 fortresses.

The city siege starts by trying to accumulate points as attackers. To do this, you must win an instanced PQ that is almost impossible to complete because the mobs are too strong with defenders nearby. If you complete this stage, the attackers then get several hours to kill other PQs and the defenders get kicked out of the city. If the attackers accumulate enough victory points the flip the city to the next stage and can attack the king. Also as they progress through the city, the city levels down. Keep in mind that a city must be level 3 to run city dungeons and if it is not level 5, people get half as many drops from that dungeon.

Also, during the city siege all zones shut down. No other zones can be taken meaning nobody is doing ORvR anywhere else. All scenarios shut down so nobody is doing scenarios. After stage 1 of the city, defenders cannot enter their city. That means after stage 1 of a city raid there is no RvR at all.

There basically is no raid content other than end game RvE (RvR but vs NPCs). There is a lot of group content. It is all pretty shallow. Kill x amount of trash. Complete random tank and spank boss, repeat, clear instance, wait x number of days, do it again. Land of the Dead sounds interesting. We'll have to see. One major issue I have with group content is the drops... they are completely random. Not like WoW set items that are tokens for 3 classes. That means a lot of drops go to waste and it may take dozens of runs before you get a couple of drops.

If this sounds like fun, I'd say re-up and go for it.
