Well I am currently in search of an mmo, one that has eluded me, that has a large selection of classes with a non-noticeable grind ( since we all know every mmo no matter what has a grind, it is just hidden well). I am done with wow for now due to poor connection issues therefore I am a non-reliable healer in a 25-man.

I want a game that fits the same description, preferable free.
I'm losing hope though. :( |

It sounds like you still enjoy WoW, I would try to get that connection fixed if you can't do that try Vaguard, EQ2 or Lotro they are also pve focused games like WoW. Maybe if you gave more information i would be able to point you toward more games. Have you ever tried Ryzom? it has no classes since its a sandoxy/skill based game (like Eve but you actually have to play to skill up), the game is group focused so you and your buddy can play together and the game has a three week trial. If your looking for a F2p MMO try Runes of magic, Requiem or Atlantica all three of those games are decent.
Playing: EvE, Ryzom |

I agree with everything except the D&D Part, id suggest trying the other two first as my attempt to try D&D recently went rather badly due to the low populaton I found ingame. Wolfenpride: <--Giant fucking sword syndrome. Probably cause im trying to compensate for miniscule manhood. |

Its really hard to say honestly... I was going to suggest you try FFXI because its sorta a long term adult video game. However it has a severe grind. It is very party based though... if you ever are interested in knowing more about FFXI check out the player made wiki site. ffxicyclopedia <---
Also if you have any questions please feel free to ask me ^.^ I play on Diabolos my character is named Seisen, been playing FFXI for years now, even while playing other games. It has a timeless quality that you just can't find in other games, yeah it can be dull at times but it also can be the most interesting and deep experiance you can find in an online game.
Otherwise if you are looking for not a grind try something like City of heroes, whenever I get really bored I go back and give it a month or two of my time, very fun casual game. Thinking of trying TERA? Check out my guild on Basilisk Crag! We're actively recruiting! www.proxytera.enjin.com/ |

I'm confused, are you asking what MMO you should play with a poor connection? Cause my response would be none. At least buy a better connection with the $15 a month you will save by not playing WoW and picking up a F2P. Although I would say WoW is pretty much as good as it gets without Helen Hunt. Check out Runes of Magic if you enjoy WoW, it is probably the highest quality F2P I've ever played. |

Ok this is what I have come up with from all the posts- I played ryzom back in the beta and do remember it being somewhat interesting, so I will check that out. I am also going to check out Runes of magic, since I haven't even seen it before I played FFXIand got a WM to like lvl 20 and it was just too much of a grind, and that was when I could play 24/7 I was also thinking about picking up eq2 again, though...blah idk I just get that feeling when I think about it Also the only reason my connecton is an issue in wow is because as a healer running 600ms-1k is a big issue and as I know form past experience other MMOS dont require such teamwork as ulduar requires. As per buying better internet....If i could get fiber optic internet where I am right now dont you think I would be paying that $150 a month.....

It seems alot of people are leaving WoW ... though my reasons are somewhat different (bored and its become way too easy plus i dont have time to do 25 man raids anymore) I think alot of WoW players are trying to push on till diablo 3 releases but its becoming hard. i am also considering dusting off EQ or trying EQ2 but the gaming market seems to have hit a snag that cant bypass WoW yet ... please let me know if you find something good |

I'm going to back up the guy who suggested City of Heroes. It has no real grind to speak of and connection issues should be a fairly small issue if you play a class that can solo fairly well (Tank or Scrapper). Its a well polished game and there are still quite a few people playing it. It is EXTREMELY casual though. Guild Wars is also a possiblity, although I think a poor connection would hurt you more there. If you get the FACTIONS campaign you will not have to deal with a grind as you can get to the max level in the game (20) in less than a week even if you have never played before. Do not get the other campaigns until you have your character from factions leveled up to 20 however, as the other campaigns are much longer and leveling is much slower. Prophicies has a KILLER grind even though it probably has the most content. Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may. ~Mark Twain |

How about Planetside? It is almost 'grindless' as you can compete more or less from the get go. I realize it's very different from the games mentioned, but I found it a great MMO. Don't know what the population is like by now, though. Other than that, although I haven't played it much, Chronicles of Spellborn 'seems' to be more about story than grind. Might be worth a try if you haven't already.
edit: Sorry, missed your ping issue. That's obviously a killer for Planetside. |

WoW is pretty playable up to ping 600/700. A 1k ping means ur 1 second from every move. WoW has very good server ping for many players, if you have 1k ping to WoW, what makes you think you will have no issues with any other games. If you have 1k ping with all games you are pretty much screwed. Fix the ping first, unless its specific to WoW, which i doubt. |
|
having a 1k ping with 24 other players in Ulduar w/ so much going DCs me. Also what makes me "think" i will have no issues with other games is that A. I play EVE online fine B. I play RO fine C. no other MMOs has as much going on as wow does in one area, and it seems to be only wow I have the issue with. Also as I said before I can't fix my connection because this is all I have access to. So im thinking about giving CoH a try- I am currently updating Rune of Magic though to see how that is. And about GW I played that for a bit- have every game and the expansion, but it doesn't appeal to me anymore.

1000ms latency is really.. REALLY bad. I recall playing from Hungary on dial-up accessing a West Coast US server and I was getting 1500ms latency. Are you on a server that is not in your area or something? |

Runes of magic for a Free WoW basically that has the most expensive end game gear you will ever see ( IE to make 2h weapon that you will never replace until they up the level limit $1.8K US.) Atlantica online if you like Final Fantasy and dont mind pvp'in every now and then (100 battles a day, 175 in a party before you have to pvp to beable to battle more otherwise you suffer HUGE losses, eg 80%~? drop& EXP Lose) eh.. the mmo market is kinda failing atm, Aion looks like garbage and is just overhyped to shit, the new star wars MMO is suppose to be a godsend, not too much else to say really

Why not play EQ1 all together? :) I'm down. Time to fix this genre. |

No offense but you need to fix your connection or go try some good single player games. Any online game you play with that connection is going to suck (not just wow). Other than that the previous posters made some good suggestions. |
