It seems concerns about future change are well founded...for those of you excited about real pvp and the hype, expect MO to be a repeat of darkfall or worse. The funny thing is i was just expressing concern over losing the good qualities of the game should the carebears want to make it like wow. Apparently they didnt like those thoughts. I dont think i was being negative...Iwas actually excited about the game and its why i brought it up. Oh well needsless to say they attacked me for no good reason...

what saddens me most is the didnt even give a reason...they just took my reptuation points and closed my thread. Im sorry but a communnity that doesnt allow expression, especially the kind that expresses a letgitamet concern,  is well pretty shocking then again we cant complain perhaps the internet is a place where you can just get shut off. Im not worried though arrogance comes before the fall

I don't know.  In reading the thread and your incessant posting in it, It sounds like you may have been trolling/flaming carebears and trying to be a forum drama queen.  I don't see any attack posted there - they didn't try to smack you down publicly like some moderators would.  They just handled a perceived problem quietly.

I think your fears are best dealt with by explaining the gaming background of starvault itself.

Henrik (the CEO) played a red in UO for many years, he witnessed first hand trammel and insurance and how all of that can decimate a good game.

Starvault have said that they are making a hardcore niche game, so they dont give one crap about people saying "do this, its good for your business!" and whining for whatever feature they want put in. So overall, I would say that your fears have no application to SV, at least at this time.

If anyone was attacking anyone you were attacking them. What you were trying to do is stir up unnecessary commotion on the forums and that is why your thread was locked.

People seem to forget, video game makers are not making "your" game they are making "their" game. If the developers want to make the epitome of carebear games that is their choice and theirs alone. By making a post for rallying others for war you become a potential issue and is best to silence you before it gets out of hand.

Honestly, reputation points mean absolutely nothing on that site and hold no weight. On top of this I stand by my statement, there was no attack. I think you just took it a bit harder than it was meant to be, no hard feelings. Thread locked is no big deal it happens on forums everywhere every day.

Ok, first of all, I appreciate that you are upset and that you have a vested interest in a game that is close to your heart.

But people need to realize that this is private property/private space of the game company. They don't have to let you do or say anything.

Granted, there are more professional ways to close a thread... he could have said:

well thats fine and dandy, i certainly wasnt stirring any trouble up. that wasnt my intention, but considering they took it that way instead of politely informing me that i was violating some unwritten rule in there politically corrert world, well whatever  i suppsoe no crying over spilled milk...it happened to me if you dont tow the line it will happen to you whatever that line is in there little book, i must have accidently tripped over it.  It was more of a just to let you know this is how they roll thread, nothng good can come from people that use such methods. Youll see.

I hate to burst your bubble, but it's a privately owned and operated forum.

You chose to express yourself in a manner that the staff considered to be inappropriate, and as such, your thread was closed and rep points were deducted. If you review the guideline and rules for the MO Forums, I'd wager you will notice that you were in violation of more than one of them.

Again, I think you are taking it a bit too far.

They are not the first game company to close a thread. Players really need to remember that this is a company. It's not some club or movement where we all put in our thoughts and decisions are made for the good of all.

It's a company.

Now granted, there are better and more professional ways to do such things but it's their space and they get to do what they want.

It does say that you can't troll. But I don't really see your post as trolling. I can see where some might but I personally don't.

There's this:

It's a bit weak but the only place where I can find that you might have a thread locked, other than the trolling which I don't really think you were. Still, I can see others making an argument for a troll post.

Most probably because 99% of your posts had "carebear" in it. Learn to make points without name-calling and you might get to earn and keep good reputation. When you go around name-calling, people are going to ding your rep. As for closing the thread, maybe the mods/devs saw this too and knows that it won't lead to any good. They stopped it before it got worse.

You may not think (hehe) that "carebear" is a derogatory term, or for the sake of this post may state such, but that word has been meant as nothing but derogatory in the context of MMO Gaming, even illustrated in your post when you use "carebear" and "hardcore" to contrast.

Learn the grown up way to debate/make points without name calling and you avoid negative rep and thread closing.

Poopoo, relax and stop trying to sound like a drama queen.  Having a thread locked just means that the thread/posts were in violation of the rules.  Usually, it results from one of the other forum users reporting you for an infraction and one of the moderators reading the thread and agreeing.  If you want to know what the line is, try reading the rules/code of conduct next time.  Coming onto a different set of forums and trying to stir up drama is just silly.  Moderators are not under any legal or contractual obligation to send you an e-mail and let you know why they are locking your thread. 

And since you're located in the US, I should probably add that 1st Amendment protections do not apply against gaming companies in internet forums.

care bear is hardly offensive or vulgar. But anyways it seems majority opinion is against me so i must be wrong, im moving on. Perhaps this is a good thing, universe has a way of giving everyone what is right for them, beacuse of this its probably not a loss, im sure it was for a reason, the future will be interesting to watch
