Just after cancelled WoW for the 4th time 2 months ago, i removed the pink lenses and realized:

1) PvE is repetitive and boring = tired of spending 4 hours in naxx to disenchant everything just to have a shot at KT, tired of lvling my 4th alt in content i have explored and vomitted to no end;

2) PvP is unbalanced = i don't play a paladin or deathknight; i didn't play a druid or a rogue in TBC;

3) Spending hours in front of a PC screen collecting pixels while i could learn kung fu or piano is mind-boggling;

I'd like to thank Blizzard to have cured me of this cancer of video-gaming that are MMORPG, i hope they enjoy the Ferraris this lucrative job gave them because it's well-earned.

Bye!

Lets not look at the end, try to look at the fun you had over the years  and how much you enjoyed it then. Yes I also left wow because I was bored but I still remember the intense fun I had in the early days of the game, when you didnt know what was over the hill or behind the woods.

Its natural to be very negative against a game you quit, its a way to hide away the addiction. But what you should do is to just realize that all good things comes to an end and then move on, happy with the good times you had and then be prepared to have a good time elsewhere.

Lately I have come to the conclusion that the best thing you _can_ do about MMOs is NOT to read too much about them and hype yourself up. Just jump out and try different games and when you at last find out "hey Im enjoying this" then stick with it and only then begin to delve deeper into the game.

Its a very effiient way for jaded old players to find the fun again.

3.  why can't you do both?

I currently attend school 2 full days a week and 3 half days a week, I work partime (or casual...i forget) 1 or 2 nights a week and both weekend days (16ish hours over the weekend), I play sport (Thursday nights + Sunday mornings) and on top of all of that i learn drums (Monday nights).

Do everything in moderation and there is no way you can't make room for a game.  Personally i play about 2 hours a day (roughly) and 4-5ish hours on the weekend (pretty much wherever i can fit it in) and i still have plenty of spare time (spent catching up on Assignments (when i feel like it) or reading).

Anyway aside from that no1 is pretty spot on (hence why i stay away from PvP in all MMO's) and no1 is personal opinion really...I think the quests get better and better as you get higher and higher and some quests are a fresh change.

Also Vivendi owns the Ferari's...and Activision...and just about every decent studio out there....

MMO wish list:

-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

I wish this response was the first to all the "I've played this game for X number or years and now realize how bad it is."

People play games for years because they actually were having fun.

Great response.

A simple truth-"What people want and what is good for an mmo is not always the same thing"-mrw0lf

You hit your self in the head with a hammer.  It really hurts.

You might try it one more time to be sure that it will hurt.

Would you really do it more than that?

Same with WOW.  I played it once, quit.  Came back for a bit, realized it wasn't the game for me and quit for good.

Did that mean all MMORPG's suck? No.  Could I go out and learn Kung Fu? No,because I never let MMORPG's stop me from doing other things in life that I wanted to, they just fill in the gaps where I might have been watching TV, sleeping or spending time with my wife.   (beside, me and Kung Fu.... not going to happen, same with the hang gliding career...nope)

I think what is going on is that people love MMO's, and WOW is the most tolerable (but not most desirable) MMO to play.  This is kind of like wanting to watch TV, but the only thing on is re-runs of the "Hollywood Squares".  Because you might love TV, watching such a program does not necessarily mean you are having fun.  In fact, it is kind of like a self-imposed form of water-boarding.

It is high time for Blizzard to get off their butts and announce their new MMO, so we can see if it is a waste of time or worth hanging out for.

I work close to 50 hours a week.  I have a wife who needs time.  I also take Krav Maga.  I still find time to game, because I love it.  I genuinely love video games.

There will be a fifth time, I see it in your future. BTW, Kung Fu sucks as a fighting art (though there are many other benefits), take Muay Thai, Judo, or Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Judo is pretty inexpensive in most places.
