I got to totally agree , the so called review is nothing more than a personal attack on the Darfall Devs the Game itself and even the 1000's of people already playing it.

 This is so funny. This is pure popcorn. This is why I love DF. So *one* website which half of you fanboys have never heard give DF a good old abshing and your all up in arms. Including a lead" "developer" disclosing private logs of playtime ?  Kind of  defensive are we not ?

Better fasten down the hatches because DF will envitably get smoe very poor reviews as it quitly slinks into "mainstream" review sites. Heck it might even get some average (and possibly  good ones too, some people love the game... oh dear). But gods this drama eh ?

I remember when less than 1 month ago, MMORPG.com was the suckiest site for DF info because all the ppl were flaming the game and the staff supposably wasnt moderating the DF forums...

This was just one aspect of my OP. The other one is how is done better. Look at MMORPG.com has 3 correspondents  cover the game and all of them actually have played the game.

Instead letting someone who actually hates the work of independent  developer who bring fresh air in the genre MMORPG.com approaching  the game with the deserved respect and letting people write article who know  about what they writte.

Credit where credit is due. MMORPG.com is not capable to establish a Darkfall Community  but the DF coverage is pretty good for now. It was not expected by myself but seems they care about the game more then i thought.

I am actually pissed about MMORPG.com "review" of the game because that is what made me go fork out 50 euro to try it just to find out that the game is just as it is described by Ed Zitron.

For example MMMORPG.com claims the gfx are average. In which world is that crappy, severly outdated gfx engine with horrible animations average in the year 2009?

Also the borky controls are not so much mentioned in the "reviews". Nor the crappy way that your backpack organises your stuff (in a clutter of icons). Also the horrible sound that hurt my ears are not mentioned either. I can go on but I think Ed Zitron pretty much describes what is wrong with this game.

Aventurine doesn't need to worry about a second server... with all this negative publicity, they'll never need one.

So, what you are suggesting is that it is right not to point out (bluntly) shit mechanics and aspects of Darkfall in a review because the developers said they were going to be shit ages ago?

Three corresponents plus anything Paragus writes on the front page... for a game that most gaming companies have not even acknowledged is a released game. And mmorpg.com is terrible at "reviewing" the game, as they only point out the positives of every game that comes out. They take a completely neutral view to the point it is worthless. From reading all the stuff about DF on this site, it makes it out to actually be on par or exceedingly better in quality and polish than games like WAR and AoC, and it is definitely not.

You might think WAR is shallow and gets boring fast, you might thing AoC had a bad launch and instancing is unacceptable... but their quality, lore, and polish is so much higher and their content exceeds DF in the first hour of playing either of those games. And it's fair for you to hate those games but to stand here and say DF is a feature complete, amazing product is just a plain bold faced lie.

The press this game is getting on this site is for one simple reason, drama. People like drama and this game has tons. The people that are 'lined' up to play are mostly people that want to say "I experienced the train wreck that is DF". There's billions of people in the world, it's natural that 10K people in this world would like almost anything (About 0.000142% of the world, using 7bil peeps). And that is all fine and good, glad there is something for everyone's taste. But don't make it out to be on par with actual AAA titles, regardless if they failed you personally or not.

It's like saying Mount and Blade is on par with Oblivion. I paid $50 for Oblivion and had a great time, and lots of mods made it even more fun later. I paid $7.50 for M&B and I had fun for a few hours, worth $7 (about the price of lunch) and I'll agree it is fun game and has interesting combat. But if I paid $50 for M&B (Nice steak dinner) I would of flipped off the handle. I paid for a high quality steak and they have me a hamburger. If you like hamburgers, that's fine, I do too now and then. Just don't tell me I am paying $55 + $15/mo for the best steak you can buy in the world (many people claim its the best mmo on the market), when I'm getting Burger King (Did anyone notice BKs prices are actually around $7 for a value meal these days... hrm, I did).

No, that's not exactly correct.  It's just a matter of having a set of rules and enforcing the rules.  Moderators have a decent amount of discretion in determining when certain types of action are necessary, depending on the infraction, and depending on what type of environment the site would like to have.  It's in no way a matter of choosing sides.

It must be so painful for the DF community as a whole to have you on their side.  They must cringe every time they read your posts.  We should start a poll of DF players as to whether they would like to have you banned from posting for life about DF.  As most DF players clearly feel the need to post about how their game is not awful, it must be a feeling of 1 step forward, 2 steps back with each DR post........LOL....
